Mist pants to catch his breath after being caught so blatantly off guard. As he gasps for air/water, the blackness seeping from his wound staunches its flow and his shoulder glows a faint greenish color as the Oarsman's Blessing heals him with a belly full of seawater.
((Hooray for remembering to read my character sheet for things from a year and a half ago! It looks like Kraven should have it as well!))
A female with the crew yells "SWIM AWAY!" as she does so she takes a bite at Varlin, once she has moved her speed she will also throw her harpoon at him, but not make an attempt at pulling it back.
...
As the attacks miss, or bounce harmlessly off his armour, Varlan shakes his head again. Looking at the fleeing female he says, "We gave fair warning."
He reaches down to collect the harpoon then, pulling a magnifying glass seemingly out of nowhere, begins to examine the body of the fallen leader at his feet.

Oarsman's Blessing heal for 6hp
[OOC: Thank you for the reminder - Have now added it to my character notes.]
Kuatho nods and thanks Mist. He calls out too the merrow, “Let us know if you need any protection. I can kick pretty well for one of my kind!” His antennae are twitching with the adrenalin of the fight.

Varlan you find 17 silver, a sharks tooth, and one additional coin that does not look like it has value, but it does have an evil looking symble on one side, then the other side is a crude looking lettering, it looks mostly like the lettering that you have seen around the city except that it is sharp and more pointed looking at the ends.
Seeing no guards in the immediate vicinity Kraven speaks up, "Do we notify guards or move along, options could be bad for us either way, think we just move along now and follow compass. Not sure we have seen the last of them though." As he points in the direction of the retreating merrow.

Mist allows the paladin to place his hands on him. A slight shiver runs down him as he feels the healing warmth rush over him.
"Much obliged, Jake. Been gettin' away with so much of late, I must've thrown caution to the wind. Nothin' like a near-death experience to bring ya back to reality, eh?" he laughs, rubbing his shoulder and gently rotating the arm. "I'd say we press on, if yis are up for it. We're travelin' w' the blessin's o' Queenie Regina Pomegranate 'erself so I'm not inclined to worry too much 'bout guards so long as we're in the right."
He looks around.
"I'm all discombobulated... Which way were we headed? Oh..." He checks the compass and points as he starts to swim forward before quickly stopping and looking back at the party.
"I miss my ol' meat shield... Who wants to lead the way?"
As long as Mist is clear on the directions from the compass, Jecob will be the meat shield lead the way.

The astral compass leads you to the North Side of the city and out the gate to Cipactli’s Trench. The Great Sea’s deepest trench forms Tesora d'Mar’s northern border, and a heavy wall of sea stone and coral divides it from the city. The trench is 200 ft. across and completely dark - no light can pierce the depth. Moving around you can tell that you need to go into the trrench.
On a lip overlooking the trench is an old stone shrine - not much more than a large untended shelter. The building is simple, a series of worn coral blocks stacked upon each other. Inside, a plaque is dedicated to ‘Duquesa Celida,’ the ocean’s savior and the founder of Tesora d'Mar. There is also a much older version of the mural that adorns the palace. Here, too, the mighty queen is seen hurling her magic blade into the heart of encroaching darkness.
Inside there is a simple altar decorated with bits of mining equipment, illuminated by fragments of glowstone, along with a few large chests. The chests contain hooks, pickaxes, buckets, rope, and a few sealed jars of tar-like substance labeled ‘Kraken Slick.’
The irritable wizard from the palace, Mago Solarté, approaches the group at the structure. The old merfolk eats from a bag of plump snails, cracking their shells open with his teeth before messily slurping them up.
"DDDEEEAAATTTHHH!!!! Is what waits if you start going down there with out any true Kraken Slick. I have some at my tower, and you might be able to help me, and I know I can help you all. Come quck, this way." and the old man points back to the city.
Varlan nods, following the wizard. As the move he asks, "What exactly does Kraken Slick do?"
Jecob pipes up. "I hope it is not a lubricant. I have no desire to check a massive sea beast for hemorrhoids."
(Again, the rest of the party realizes after a moment that he is not making a joke. Despite Jecob being knowledgeable and capable of mentation, you wonder if he fell off the crow's nest onto his head on his previous ship.)

Kraven looks at the old wizrd trying to determine if what he is saying is true or not.
Insight: 13
Then he will linger behind in the shrine as he slowly gathers the rope and looks around the room to see if there is anything hidden from sight, and quick swim to the edge and looks over into the abyss.
Perception: 18
Then if he can not see anything he will quickly swim to catch up with the rest of the group.
“Hemorrhoids?” Kuatho’s antennae flail around as he tries to process. “What are you talking about? Is that a dangerous organ on a sea monster? How odd. Sounds scary.” He swims along with Jecob and Kraven, having a look at the area. After he takes this in, he swims along with the others to hear more about this “Kracken Slick.”

Kraven you do not find anything of true value, HOWEVER, you do find something that is shinny, and attractive you. Please let us all know what it is that you found.
As you all swim, it is a little harder to keep up with the old man than you thought it would be, but he does explain that Kracken Slick " Kraken Slick is meant to help withstand intense water pressure. I brew batches of the substance for the risk-taking miners who brave descending down Cipactli’s Trench in search of glowstone."
Mago’s home is made from a not so large nautilus shell. Inside the space grows, both in the circumference and height, scrolls made from treated kelp cover the walls and various arcane devices lay scattered about the space.
“Please do not touch anything. So there is something amiss in Cipactli’s Trench and the Regenta is too blinded by her grand festival to pay attention. I have noticed strange, unhealthy growths in the kelp, sea life becoming more aggressive, and miners working in the trench have been going missing. Let me tell you a story.
Thousands of years ago, in order to advance his own power and conquer the mortal realm, the demon-lord Cipactli sired a son, the diabolical Ihu’qancao. Born to an aboleth mother, the halffiend is intensely loyal to Cipactli. Using demonic rituals, he used the ocean’s deepest trench as the staging ground for his father’s invasion of the material world.
Ihu’qancao cracked the bottom of the trench open, creating a permanent portal to his father’s Blood Ocean. The sea floor at the bottom of the trench is the closest point on the Material plane to the hellish home of demons, and thus the best place for a portal between the two realms. Demons flooded the seas, and blood-water poisoned all sea life for miles. A group of heroes, collected from all corners of the sea, banded together to confront the threat. Led by a headstrong merfolk duchess, the heroes confronted Ihu’qancao moments before the colossal Cipactli could squeeze through the portal.
Ihu’qancao was defeated by the heroes, but they knew the demonic aboleth would only regenerate if slain. Instead, they contrived that he be magically sealed away in depths of the trench itself. The caves at its bottom were suffused with freezing magic that locked the aboleth’s grotto in ice that no magic in the world could melt. This frozen prison, along with the aid of enchanted chains across the cave openings, sealed away Cipactli’s offspring forever.
As Kraven starts to leave the shrine something catches his eye, the iridescent rainbow color on the back of an abalone shell stuck in the corner. He happily hops over ans pick sit up cooing at the radiant color gleaming from the shell as eh then puts it in his pocket with his other treasures. Then he looks around and see the other retreating in the distance and quickly catches up to them.
Once inside Mago's house Kraven's eyes grow larger at all the trinkets and baubles laying about the place and eventually just "sits" on his feathered hands so as to not accidentally take something for safe keeping.

Kraven will look around and if any of the retreating merrow are within range he will throw more psychic dagger at them to make sure they leave.
Psychic Dagger: Attack: 20 Damage: 8
Corpse Psychic Dagger: Attack: 14 Damage: 8
Then he will look around for any guards to see if nay are coming this way.
Perception: 13 (Using his move action to look around if he can)
Ill give you one of them, and they swim even faster. You do see what looks like a patroll turn off the road you were on.

Mist healed up the bite (6 damage, same as the Oarsman's blessing), but still looks a bit beat up from the harpoon (16 damage).
Jecob offers to lay-on-hands another 8 hp, if Mist would like to be a bit healthier.
After that is resolved, Jecob would like to make a quick search for the unreliable guards, but will obey what the party leaders decide to do.
