All good Aubric, we have been making a few of them, and I forgot about our NPCs.
Kraven you sneak into the "hell scape" and you see that you are at the center of the volcano, there is a pool of lava bubbling. Spitting small bits out into the air. Pacing in the center of the pool is what can only be described as a wolf. But not of fur and flesh, but magma and fire. flames coming up from its body licking the air above, it's ears specifically look like they are flames. As parts of the wolf are still they turn from the liquid of magma into hard black obsidian rock, then when that part moves it breaks apart and turns back to the magma.
Kraven what do you do?
Reminder to everyone that Kraven is your rouge, and scouting ahead, most likely you would not join him, leaving you all back a little ways, I am going to say just outside of the entry to the side cavern is the closest you can be.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kraven freezes on seeing the wolf, quickly looking around to see if there is anything else lying around in the hellish landscape and then will slowly back away to the others, warning them of what lies ahead.
Once arriving, he will whisper, "Large wolf seeming made of lava ahead of us. I think there is only one, but knowing our luck, probably not. I have 4 more of those heat stones, does anyone else want to give ti another try before we combat that thing." As he takes one of the stones and starts rubbing it on his feathers. "Err, sorry, I have 3 more of those stones."
Kraven is now good on fire resistance. How are we going to be moving into the center of the valcano? Marching order, storming in or sneaking? What do we want the game plan to be?
B) the below link is for a Google slide. I made it for two reasons. 1 I wanted everyone to get an other view of the magma wolf, the first slide it is flanked by 4 humanoid minis as well to grasp the size. The next 3 slides are the wolf from other angles. 2 I wanted to show off some of my paint work. So I added a few pics of Vahlisto and Captain Catapult
"As a suggestion, having no idea what that wolf can do, I suggest we attempt to sneak in and then ambush it. Hopefully we can take it down quickly before it can react." Kraven suggests. Either way Kraven would probably attack form the cave opening in the "darkness" of it.
"I agree with Kraven's suggestion," Druquilla nods then offers her own idea. "Gintarou you had some success with these stones did you not, if so you can keep the beast distracted with the rest of us attack its flank from a distance. If things go wrong Zen and I have some spell power left we can use to offer you some healing, but hopefully it will not come to that."
((The minis look great. Did you custom make the lava wolf or did you use something as the base?))
(Thank you. The Lava wolf is part of the set up that we are playing. Dungeon in a Box is where I bought this all from. They did a total of 3 years worth of monthly box sets, they are moving forward in a different direction from here on out. Year 3 comes with a modular book, 2+ maps (1 sheet double sided) 3D terain, their "Skinny minis" and 2 3D minis, the lava wolf and Vahlisto are from box 2 and Captain Catapult along with the crab are from box 1.)
So we want to sneak in, I need everyone to make a stealth check.
Blux: 5
Zan: 14
Blux offers to Gin "I will get right up there with you. Can I get one of the no fire rocks?" Med check Blux 7
I currently have you all up as different colored squares. Seeing as Blux crit failed his stealth check, I will say that we just enter combat as is, with everyone getting one turn before the wolf, compaired to getting two turns. So you may let me know if you want to move from where you are at. Gin you are black, Aubric red, Dru navy blue, Kraven the limeish green outside the room, Mist the darker green next to Kraven. Blux is the gree next to the magma wolf, and Zan is purple.
" Rushing forward. Attracting attention and attack, just like I always do, right? " Gintaroulaughs. The warrior grasps his greatsword and slash at the lava wolf .
(OOC: I've edited my post. Since Gin is already in melee range, there is no use to throw an axe. Also thanks for the map and minis!)
Mist stays partially outside the door to the chamber and begins his, now familiar, hand vogue dance, summoning the spectral tentacle in a hiss of steam due to the sheer heat of the room.
"Come on, now! Let your body go with the flow!" he shouts from the back as he fires off a bolt of green energy at the wolfie.
As Gintarou swings his sword the wolf moves away, making Kraven miss the wolf.
Mist's Eldritch blast hits the wolf in it's head, forcing it to lift its head up, with that you all see in its chest one of the shards. The Tentacle is not liking the fire, and taking a second to get use to it.
Once Aubric takes his turn I will take the NPCs turns and then the Wolf will get its.
