"Alright, we got ourselves a fighter! Let's show her what we can do. Fire those cannons, and take out their sails!" Abigail shouts. (Fire the Cannon! Attack: 12 Damage: 35)
As the ship rocks back and forth from the force of cannon fire and impact of cannon balls, Abigail continues to man the helm in an attempt to slowly gain on their prey (moving us up a zone).
Summary: The Old Salain Ship turns, unleashing a broadside towards the Maiden. A hail of gunfire launching off. The exchange from the blasts of cannons streaking through the sails of both ships; tearing them to shreds as splinters come down.
While the Command Crew of the Maiden freeze up from the volley and destruction, a hail of gunfire flies by Abigail. The cannonballs soaring over her head as they target the helm and the rudder.
A ballista bolt launches over at the Maiden. it exploding in the air; raining shrapnel down to everyone on the deck; but the shot missing the important structures of the weapon.
Round 3 (Begin)
Situation: ZZ, Lafetha, Tarak: Take 13 Damage. Make a DC 12 DEX Saving throw for half damage. (All can add in Tarak save bonus) Crew Saving Throw: 21 v DC 12 / 13 dmg
The Old Salain Ship is (Zone +1) away; seemingly getting ready for what may be coming.
4 Aarakockra Sailors from the other ship land on the deck of the Maiden, blades at the ready and beginning to engage with anyone around the cannons.
"NOT MY SHIP!!!" ZZ shrieks in frustration as the latest cannonball pierces the hull. Looking around ZZ notices the Aarakockra Sailors boarding the ship. She grabs the hammer looped in her belt and reaches into her psyche for the next spell, hurling 3 rays of fire, 1 at the Salain ships main sail, one at their larger cannon, and one at one of the Aarakockra Sailors closest to her.
Main sail: 20 damage 8
Large cannon: 8 damage 11
Sailor: 8 damage 8
ZZ turns to her nearby crewman as the fire spills forth, "Hey! Grab the crossbows and the exploding bolts - aim for their powder kegs!! Fire the fore ballista!"
Abigail continues to helm the ship, cannon balls flying past her and explosions adding dramatic lighting to her stern face. To the crew she shouts, "Row like your lives depend on it!"
She aims the Maiden at the other ship, intending to ram it...
Summary: Abigail attempts to bring the ram of the Maiden into the Older Salain Vessel. Both vessels riding the wheel but the sleeker and tighter turn radius of the other ship makes the Maiden their mark. Both turning to keep themselves close together. Tarak takes note of the intruders; two slashes coming across one of the boarding members. Lafetha, seeing the bird-man still standing lashes out with a series of vines. It striking and cutting across the injured bird; causing them to collapse on the ground.
ZZ takes a moment to fire off three bolts of fire. The first does strike out at the Old Salain sails, leaving a streak of ash and fire. The other two blasts miss their targets; one only striking the side of the hull while the boarding member easily evades. Both Tarak and ZZ give a shout to the crew. A few run by, only to be cut down by one of the boarding guards. A Ballista bolt fires at the enemy ship; aiming for their weapons. The bold exploding and showing the weaponry with a bit of shrapnel, but, it seeming rather limited. A broadside salvo unleashes from the top-deck; the smoke filling the air while more splinters from the Old Salain hull fly out.
The boarding party moves to engage with the crew on the deck. One of them slashing across ZZ (11 dmg), while another moves to cut across Lafetha (4). A series of crossbow bolts fly from the deck of the other ship; striking Tarak from behind (4). The Old Salain begins to pull away from the Maiden, firing off another quick salvo - still targeting the sails. But their limited cannon spread miss the sail design of the Maiden.
Situation: The Old Salain has moved (Zone +1). Her sails are looking worse for ware; but still able to catch a good amount of wind. A few chunks of the hull have been hit from the cannons - but minimal damage from what you can tell.
A few members of the Maiden's crew lay on the ground; bleeding out. (31 HP need healing by the end of combat; or 3 die. Some remain injured) **Total AOE Dmg / Dmg targeted to Maiden Crew = X. X/8 = number of Maiden Crew that will die. Remainder/4 = crew that are injured and heal over time** (WIP)
Abigail's fur starts to stand on end, watching her crew getting cut down. "This is intolerable! Lafetha, can you heal them?! You there, Charles was it!? Take the helm, just keep us steady!"
"Time for a bit of a different tactic, row out toward port - give us some distance." ((Bonus Action to get us +1 Zone AWAY from the mark))
"You there, on starboard cannon, load the chain shot." Abigail leaps down to the first starboard cannons, "Alright, with me - aim for the sails... and... Fire!"
Chain Shot to the Sails/Mast of the Target Ship - Attack: 29 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
The ballista bolts fly at the sides of the ship; unable to puncture enough damage to harm the cannons. Sturdy designs and some cover making it rather hard for the ballistas to get a good angle. As another volley launches from the Maiden, series of chains soar through the air and tear apart the Old Salain's masts. Breaking the rigging and causing the fabric to collapse. A direct hit that will take quite some time for repairs to happen.
Instead of cannons the Old Salain begins to use some oars to get some speed. Beginning to get away, but not before dropping cargo into the water. A tribute to Abigail. With them being dropped and bobbing along - it'll take some time to launch the rowboats and gather the bounty. A series of boxes that contain fine sugar, whisky, wines. All things that could be sold at a port for a good sum of change. The only real currently on the seas; as coins tend to be left in bank accounts via the Blackmire Company.
The remaining Aarakockra warriors take to the sky, flying back to their home as it begins to maneuver away. A small cheer from those down below the deck and those on the sails. A victory, and some well earned experience.
But two of the crew lay dead on the ground - with one being injured.

After sending out a party to retrieve the crates, Abigail stands over the bodies of the slain crew. "Not the best start to things," she whispers to herself.
"You two, tend to Marcus over there. I do not want his wounds to fester. Nester and Sansa, help me move these two below deck so we can prepare them for their last rights."
Passing by Tarak Abigail says, "Tarak, would you do us the honor of performing the last rights for these two, once we have them ready?"
After a, less than ideal send off, Abigail attempts to persuade the crew to get back to work and continue getting things done as well as they can, "Alright everyone, we had an overall successful first encounter, and I am incline to let you all have a bit of a party to celebrate, but we still have repairs and a ship to maintain. If you all hold fast to your duties, we may just break into some of this wine later... But I do not want to see any lollygagging!" (Persuasion: 21)

ZZ twists her eyebrows as Haku flies to perch on her shoulder. He pecks at her hand, "Oi! Stop that." ZZ flicks Haku. "There is so much damage to the ship..." 2 weeks after the deaths of her fellow crewmembers, ZZ is in her bunk paging through pages in her mind, tinkering with nothing but thoughts. Her heart is heavy with the deaths, however few they were. Suddenly her mind clicks into place, like the last piece to finish the puzzle. "Ahhhhhhhhh....yesssss." She hisses, Haku perched on the edge of her trunk cocks his head worriedly. ZZ goes over to pat him on the head and then transfer him as she digs for her smith's tools. "Don't worry my friend, I've got just the thing to create for when we are back at it again."
She gets to tinkering, creating her first every eldritch cannon - a protector, with legs of course. ZZ doesn't want to drag the thing around!
Captain's Meeting ZZ, Tarak, Morgan, Lafetha and Abigail are gathered around the interior table of the Captain's Quarters. The maps put away for the moment and placed on the racks while some solid plates of food are given out.
The funeral was... less than ideal. With such a multicultural crew, and the Priests of the Faith being so individualized to their congregation, finding the words to tie the two people together in a proper theme was hard. Especially from someone trained as a Paladin who take the Oath of the Conquest. But it was serviceable. The proper words, as best as preparations that could be done.
The ship continues to maintain top performance. While the battle itself was minimal to The Maiden, it did take a bit longer than expected. The crew seems to know how to peel barnacles, lacquer parts of the hull. Minor repairs. But once they got to fixing? Needed a bit of guidance. As to be expected. ZZ able to guide them and offer suggestions in all the proper places.
Morgan, while continuing to cook whatever is pulled up from the sea along with the supplies that are on board does state that there was a bit of spoilage, and perhaps people taking a extra ration or two from the post funeral. But, they don't seem alarmed. (Supplies have moved from 1d8 roll to 1d6 rolls)
Munitions still look good, save for the explosive powder devices for the ballistae (explosive). (1d6 moved to 1d4)
It should be expected that The Maiden will cross into the Inner Sea in the morning. And from there, Abigail will have to decide exactly how to proceed. But that discussion is interrupted. A loud series of shouts coming from the deck. A sudden knock on the door, as the current Watch's fist bangs loudly.
"CAPTAIN WE HAVE A ISSUE"
On the main deck, it appears that some kind of brawl has happened. Right now it being impossible to tell who's attacking who, and who is trying to hold someone back. It's currently just fists, but they are sailors. Everyone has a knife, or a hook used on the lines..
"Alright, we got ourselves a fighter! Let's show her what we can do. Fire those cannons, and take out their sails!" Abigail shouts. (Fire the Cannon! Attack: 12 Damage: 35)
