P'Lip you grab the nut without any issues! The creatures see you take it but they don't move. They just continue growling.
Ok, it seems like you are all backing up with Gotur as he tosses his magical berries towards the base of the tree.
Gotur, is it your intention to watch and see what happens after you toss the berries? Like, will you (and the party since they are following your lead here) back up and watch the creatures to see if they come down and take the berries and accept the peace offering that Gotur is trying to send?
Or, will you just toss the berries as a farewell peace offering and then continue with the party on the days travel?
((I was thinking more the latter. It seemed these were not natural animals (ie, beasts), so Gotur's interest in further observation wouldn't be for wild shape. Maybe watching enough to make sure they aren't charging after us, but moving onward, with a somewhat wistful look at the mystery crate.))

((yep, I am tracking each trackable location like this with a letter. I've added the "z" for the zorbos to the map, and the legend is on the 'Map of Chult' tab.))
Gotur, you toss the berries and then slowly continue on with the journey. The party all follows you as they've advised. You notice that the creatures in the tree do not follow you, but they also do not take the berries. They just keep growling at you as you leave and you hear them growling until you're out of sight of them.
The last encounter I am essentially skipping as it will basically be a wash. It would be a different story if we were in person... we'd go through the combat sequence, but given we are PbP it'd just take too long if you ask me. The snake wouldn't survive a round even with the character surprised that it attacks. And then the party gets the long rest overnight so it's totally a wash. I'll tell you about it though just for fun! Have a look at the stat block, you'll see what I mean. Perhaps you can RP the scene a bit if you'd like, but totally up to you.
A constrictor snake attacks a random party member from hiding. The character targeted by the snake is surprised unless he or she has a passive Wisdom (Perception) score of 12 or higher.
Here's who it will attack.
And it's attack roll, just for fun. Attack: 24 Damage: 12
Evo = 1
Alton = 2
P'Lip = 3
Gotur = 4
4
Ouch! Maybe you should RP that! :D
Constrict. Melee Weapon Attack:+4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 6 (1d8 + 2) bludgeoning damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 14). Until this grapple ends, the creature is restrained, and the snake can't constrict another target.
Everyone else feel free to roll attacks for fun to kill this thing.
We will say that there is no time for foraging or crafting on this day.
DAY 29 - 8:30AM
The Chult map has been updated with previous day's travel, 'z' added, etc.
Direction: South, staying in the lesser undead section on the map.
Speed: Normal (you can only earn 1 hex on this day. If you look on the map, you'll see that you're crossing a rather large canyon and so the max you can travel is the 1 hex. If you were to travel south east, you'd be in a hex which has the greater undead and so I assume you will go south and then south east, eating the two days of travel time for the 2 hexes.)
Navigator: P'Lip
Encounter Checks: 15 / 612 / 5816 / 12
Everyone please use 1 insect salve if required.
Please make any survival checks if you will be foraging on this day, and let me know specifically what you might be looking for. Otherwise it will be random.
Oh, the naga has said to stay away from the canyon, so unless you tell me otherwise, the party will NOT investigate deeper into the Ataaz Yklwazi canyon. Only crossing the start of it.
* No encounters on this day. I will update the map with the 1 hex and get to the next day (30!) ASAP.
((OOC: omg that’s hilarious that Gotur turns into the same damned animal lol. Okay let’s make this really tricky…))
Phillip looks around to see the two snakes tussling… “Mister G’tur! Nooooo!!! (nope nope nope!)….”. He has to trust his pure instincts, he summons his bow into one hand, draws two arrows from his quiver at once with the other, takes a deep breath…. and closes his eyes, and fires twice into the maelstrom of snake bodies…
After hitting both snakes, Phillip looks again and tries to use his jungle insights to get a read on which one is acting most like a wounded jungle snake…
Insight (jungle): 21
“That one! Uh huh!… Hit that one!! The snakey one!! Yep yep yep…”.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gotur, while you don't find as much forgeable materials given the canyon, you do end up finding 10gp worth of healing potion raw plant material and 10gp worth of antitoxin material.
Got-strictor snake emerges! P'Lip blindly shoots his arrows and they both stick into their desired targets! Got-strictor takes the damage, and the real snake also takes damage, more than Got-strictor. Big time. The arrow pierced something important inside the snake.
P'Lip uses his experience with snakes and can easily determine now which one is the real thing and which one is the imposter. Got-poster
Got-strictor, you then finish the snake off with your attack. It stops and its body becomes limp as it rests on the ground.
Azaka can't help but chuckle at all of this! She was about to shoot the snake that P'Lip called out as the real one, but stops once Got-strictor finishes it. "Ha ha ha! We needed some humor once in awhile! I love it, Gotur! Gotur the snake! HA!"and she smiles.
Eku has no reaction to all of this. She basically ignores it. She knew Gotur was in no danger, and wasn't keen on what happened, so just stays quiet.
It's over. Feel free to RP the aftermath of that during the evening camp which will be uneventful except for a great sleep!
*I am not adding the constrictor snake encounter to the chult map as there's nothing really to go back and get. I'll only add stuff to the map that the party may or may not want to go back and check later on (z = zorbos, that crate in the ground)
DAY 30 - 8:30AM (WOW! Thanks everyone for sticking with this game for 30 days of in game time as we travel through the jungle and explore various locations. Hope you're all enjoying it!)
The Chult map has been updated with previous day's travel.
Direction: Southeast, staying in the lesser undead section on the map.
Speed: Normal (you can only earn 1 hex on this day. If you look on the map, you'll see that you're now exiting that rather large canyon and so the max you can travel is the 1 hex.)
Navigator: P'Lip
*The party does get to see the canyon from a far now and you see blades of black basalt thrust up from the floor of this deep, volcanic canyon to create a forest of sorts. You aren't really near these. The part of the canyon you're in is just rock and some grass and trees. You can see the basalt in the distance, and that part of the canyon looks quite impressive and ominous from a distance. Azaka and Eku confirm that they do not want to investigate this part of the canyon. Let me know if any of you might want to, and if not ->
Encounter Checks: 12 / 394 / 949 / 62
Everyone please use 1 insect salve if required.
Please make any survival checks if you will be foraging on this day, and let me know specifically what you might be looking for. Otherwise it will be random.
**Ok, we have 1 encounter for the morning. I will update ASAP!
((OOC: Woop! 30 days!! Loving the game! Thanks Klein and everyone for making this so epic and memorable!!))
Phillip is happy having a relaxing evening. He wouldn’t say no to some snake steaks though! Although maybe that brings back too many bad memories of the trials, on the way up to the temple, for some of the party!
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Azaka responds to Gotur"Hahaha! No problem, t'was entertaining at the least. You ok though?P'Lip'sarrow looked like it coulda hurt!"
Ok so it's around 10:00am on the 30th day of travel. The party is starting to make their way out of the canyon, when all of a sudden you all see them basically at the same time.
7 allosauruses. Azaka, Eku, P'Lip are familiar with them and Gotur and the party also saw a few back in the Port. These dinos are well over 10 feet tall from what you remember and from what the others know. The dinos are located approximately 300 feet away from you. They had been hunting the party. Azaka says "DRAT. They must've caught our scent. Well, you all said you wanted to see dinosaurs..."
Eku frowns and then says "Everyone, be ready. Azaka and I are immune but..." and that is all she gets out right now.
Everyone please roll for initiative. Neither side is surprised.
Azaka: 22
Eku: 18
Allosauruses: 12
Also, specific to this particular combat encounter, you have the option on your turn of attempting a survival check to see if you can find a safe refuge (a high branch, a small crevice, a hollow log, and so forth) that the predators can’t reach or enter. You can attempt this each turn if you fail as the dinos start to rush towards the party, so you might get a few tries should you want to attempt it and fail. It doesn't matter if they see you try as this isn't hiding, it's more finding a safe refuge where they cannot and will not attack you.
I will create the map ASAP and will notify you once I post it, but in the meantime I thought we'd get initiative out of the way.
