“I agree! Uh huh, uh huh...”, says Phillip. “MANY groups have rushed out there... and not come back!... hmmm.... Let’s make good preparations in the morning and head out when we’re ready...”. He takes another big bite of his Plesiosaur steak.
Evo, Eku responds: "I can meet ya's anytime, anywhere. Hell, I'm not in any rush, ye can usually find me here most nights, and during the day I'm by the harbor. Just love it there. View is spectacular."
Eku stands up from the bar.
"Look. Evo, you're a nice fella. As long as yer friends over there aren't into any evil doings, and I'll know, believe me..." she looks straight in your eyes, and you notice her eyes change into some type of serpent looking eyes for a moment, then returns to regular eyes and smiles. "then I'll be the best guide you and yer friends can hire in this city. Trust me." she smiles at you again. "I can come back here tomorrow if you so desire. Hell, I'll give you a week to decide if ya's want. I won't take any jobs until you let me know either way. I will not travel with another guide. Not my style. And don't try to undercut me. I serve Jobal and my charities. I don't mind if you shop around though. I'm confident in my abilities." and you see the serpent-like eyes flash before you once again as she leaves.
Evo, when she gets to the door of the inn, you hear in your OWN MIND: let us unite and rid the land of all evil, Cleric of Selune
Feel free to discuss what just happened with Evo and Eku, and/or ask me questions about her, and then let me know when you all want to retire for the evening to begin day #2!
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"So. Any of ye evil? She doesn't want to travel with any other guides, which aye actually don't really like. Aye like her well enough so maybe we can check around then get back to her?"
Phillip looks over to Evo and around the group. “Well, I’m not evil! Haha!.. Nope nope nope! Nuh huh......“. He shakes his head as he takes another bite of food.
Then he thinks, and continues, “E’vo, you’re a good man... A holy man? And you don’t like what’s happening with souls here at all. That right??.... hmmmmm.... Do you think we might.. ffff-P’ind allies ..at some of the churches and temples around here? Might be worth asking if we go near by one? Huh? Uh huh?...”.
"Syn was the one to tell meh about the soul thing. Aye have no idea. We can check on churches Phil, we can certainly check!"
To Gotur,
"Are ye evil lad? Ye don't act evil. Ye took care of a mule. Evil people don't really do that, do they? Aye think she meant real evil people, that hit their mules. We can ask her tomorrow. Aye still think we can find someone else she would work with... Someone not evil."
"No, but there's those that see evil in someone's blood rather that their actions. Looking for evil can blind you to the evil you're doing... had to teach that to a young idiot not too long ago..."

Phillip looks over to Gotur, and has what might be a frown on his normally jolly face. “Hmmmmm.... I have seen looks like that too. Yup!.. Some see evil in a fffff-P’ace, before they look at the heart. Uh huh, uh huh.... We can ask her tomorrow, what she means. Yup yup yup....”.
Alton gives a chuckle at Gotur’s mentioning of Karl. “Real go-getter that one was,” he says before turning to answer Evo. “I like to think of my self as good. May have done some questionable or ‘bad’ things in the past, but they were all for the greater good I’d like to think. Nobody’s perfect anyway, right...” Alton says.
You all will have individual rooms, and they are quite nice. Comfortable double beds with soft sheets (no heavy blankets at all), with beautiful plants and even small fountains in each room provide a peaceful night's sleep.

Tej is an amber-colored, fermented drink made from honey. It’s more common and popular in Chult than beer or ale.
Is the plan in the morning to go and see Syn? Or something else? Will you all stay together, or split up? There are no guides in the inn in the morning. The breakfast is just as glorious as the dinner, with fruit being the main attraction along with some freshly baked bread and some reptilian eggs. You could have all or some of it if you'd like. You'd get unlimited juice and coffee.
Gotur will have a good sampling of all that's on offer, sharing it with the others if willing/necessary.
((Have there been any small unattended urban animals about? Cats, or a dino equivalent? In case Gotur wants to do some scouting at some point relatively unnoticed.))

Phillip has had a really lovely evening. It probably ranks as one of his top ten times of his life. Great food, great company! He retires to his room very happy!
@DM, questions:
((Do the rooms have private washing facilities, or a bath, or tub or something? Or is that shared down the hall or something? Or does the fountain in the room flow into a reasonably sized basin?))
((Also, can we leave items in our room for the whole next day, and will they keep the same rooms for us for the next night?))
((And from what Phillip knows of the city, is it 100% fine to walk around with a load of gear and weapons? Is that weird or would it raise an eye, or is it illegal, or be fine and normal?))
During the night, Phillip either keeps himself hydrated with the washing facilities in his room or with his own magic.
When he comes down for breakfast, he is well rested, and nicely hydrated, and smiling and happy! He gladly tucks into breakfast, trying a little of everything on offer. He sticks to fruit juice and water, forgoing the coffee on offer, but nonetheless looking alert and perky!
((The plan to see Syn then go from there sounds great))
Gotur, during the walk to the inn, you would've seen some cats for sure. The only small enough dino for this type of thing would maybe be a Velociraptor, but they are much too fierce to be docile in the city as pets.
@ Phillip (and everyone else)
Yes each room would have a small ceramic bath. Hot water would be brought to you from the help if you wanted to take a bath. The fountains are small and flow somewhere under the building.
If you wish to stay here a second night, the inn would allow you to keep your belongings in the room, which is quite safe. You would have to pay for the second night before you leave for the morning's activities though if you keep your stuff in the room.
About the weapons, you can walk around with weapons, it's completely fine. However, there are numerous guards around the city though who are always on the lookout for suspicious behaviors. Having open weapons would definitely get their attention, but you're not likely to be actually stopped by a guard for just having a weapon.
Another thing Syn would've told you on that first stroll to the inn was about the laws. I have also added this info to the Background Info tab.
The merchant princes can create or alter laws by decree as they see fit, and judges are expected to interpret laws freely but wisely.
Slavery isn’t illegal in Port Nyanzaru, but it’s frowned upon.
Murder is illegal, but “sanctions” — legal permission to kill someone or to have someone killed — can be purchased from the merchant prince Jessamine. The price depends on the prominence of the intended victim, the reason for the sanction, and the wealth of the purchaser. (?!?!?)
Despite their high ambition, the merchant princes’ power is entirely contained in the city. Elsewhere, Chult is ruled by the red law of tooth and claw. An individual is either predator or prey.
((if you are all planning to stay at this inn again tonight and want to leave equipment in your room, you can pay the 1gp before you leave and book the room and you can leave your stuff in it))
It is a hot sunny morning (big surprise!) as you all feel rested and likely eager to get the day started. Let's say it's 9am by the time you eat, converse a bit and get out onto the streets. Phillip would be saying that he is ready to show you where Syn is staying, he knows the way!
So, along with all of the info that Syn told you about the city and Chult when you were walking to the inn yesterday, she also told you to meet her at prince Wakanga's villa today so she could get some rest before speaking to you again. You are located at #18 on the map (the market ward, Red Bazaar). The current destination is #5 on the map (Merchant Prince Villas, specifically prince Wakanga's villa who Syn is staying with due to her affliction with the curse.). If there is anything you might want to do on the way if anything on the city map interests you between those locations, we can RP those in tandem if need be. Otherwise, after a short walk you arrive at prince Wakanga's villa (#5 on map).
I have added a map of how the villas are layed out on the 'Villa' tab. I set this tab up the same way as the Port map, with the info to the right of the map. There is so much detail with these villas so I wanted to provide it and set it up the same way to give as much detail as possible if you guys want it. It adds nice flavor I find and helps visualize the environment in general. Anyhow, you would be greeted by a servant (they would recognize Phillip and are aware that Syn has asked you all to come see her here where she is staying) and would lead you to room #6 in the villa. I added details about each numbered room that you would pass getting to #6 on the new Villa tab.
After a few moments of waiting, prince Wakanga (I added his pic to the 'Princes' tab) and Syn enter the room with you.
Syn says to Phillip"Good morning, Phillip. Thank you for showing the way."and then she starts talking to all of you. "Good morning everyone. I trust you enjoyed your stay at Kaya’s?" she then abruptly sits down. "Ugh. I am sorry prince. I need to sit. Everyone, this is prince Wakanga O’tamu, a long time friend and colleague and who has been so gracious to take me in as I start to grow weak from the curse."
The prince says "Oh Syn, Syn, yes, do sit down, you need your rest." he then greets you all "Thank you all for coming. I understand you've all travelled a great length in Syn's aid and for that I am thankful to you all. She is very dear to me and therefore is an important person to this entire city. When we heard of the death curse we knew Syn might be in trouble given her resurrection, and now we see that actually coming to light. I wish I could tell you more about it, but I've little information about the curse itself other than what Syn has already told you (all the stuff on the data tabs). That blasted Soulmonger. Syn has told me about her trust in her colleague Fred and therefore I extend my trust to all of you as well especially having you come all this way."
((these types of larger RP with PbP I do struggle with as it's not in real time, and kind of hard to get a proper conversation/rapport going, so please excuse the info and speech dump!))
Feel free to ask him any questions, and if you prefer to not RP and just ask point form questions to him and/or Syn that your character might have, just list what your character might ask and then I will respond the same way you ask.
The prince would also be willing to show you around the villa if you wanted a tour, just ask which rooms you'd want info on and I will add it.
((Evo would not be staying. It was nice for a night, just too nice.))
Evo has a very large breakfast. Lot's of chilled juices.
He is keen to speak with Syn to know what additional support they can expect before he starts making his plans.
"Hello yer highness, Lady Syn. Meh name in Evo Sandfist, a cleric of Selûne. Aye'm honored by the chance to rid the world of this evil! Aye've just a few questions, pardon meh forwardness.
First, do ye know of any guide we should get to find this thing? Second do ye know of anyone that might know more here in the port? Third, can ye help us financially in this? Guides are, understandably, expensive and aye suspect we'll need provisions. Finally, if ye got anything else that would help our chances, a magical item, a scroll, a potion, it wouldn't go amiss..."
He lets the last part just trail off as he looks between Syn and Wakanga.
“I agree! Uh huh, uh huh...”, says Phillip. “MANY groups have rushed out there... and not come back!... hmmm.... Let’s make good preparations in the morning and head out when we’re ready...”. He takes another big bite of his Plesiosaur steak.
