"Think of it from our perspective." Brianna begins her hands om Rax large forearm. "Devlyn might indeed seem a bandit to those who support the Empire but he's our cell if he resistance leader. They'll give him all kinds of names to try to mar his characters for people such as yourselves who don't know about him or the movement," she explains to Sef. "We'd appreciate any help you would offer," she adds looking at Gale.
Rax seems to scratch his face looking from his companions to yours but when no one raises a weapon the goliath is easy on his feet.
"Come let's load the cart and get moving," Sylas explains. "Those Empire merchants will report us for sure," he adds.
The party helps load the wagon and move back onto the road for another few miles before turning off into a vast swath of thick forest well away from the road but still hugging thw lake shore.
"Now we wait," Sylas explains looking over the water from a makeshift dock made of salvaged wood before gesturing out at the seemingly endless body of water.

Once they stop near the makeshift dock, Sef takes a moment to survey the surrounding forest. (Perception if needed: 24) "Are we safe here? There was mention of slavers?" he asks after Sylas tells them they will have to wait.
He sticks close to Gale as he tries to keep tabs on what both Sylas and Rax are doing.
"Yes, relatively." Sylas replies. "They've got spies everywhere. I'm sure some of those officials you met in Whitehaven have their pockets lined for tip offs about casters. Rumor is there hasn't been a Reaping there in years," he adds.
Sef can see the dock is relatively hidden from any line of sight but the water and even then you'd have to know where it was to spot it. The odds of passersby seeing the waiting party are pretty slim.
"If you cast why would you work for the Empire," Rax asks in a gruff voice scratching hus bald head looking at the party.
The goliath seems easy to read. His expression is hard but softens at Brianna's proximity.

(OOC: Think the last post confirms - Brianna and Hagan are with us at the dock? Previously was said they would scout ahead.)
"We knew work for the Empire was risky, especially for a caster. But we thought it would be a good way to earn something without becoming bandits ourselves." Sef pointedly looks at Sylas as he pauses, then at the other folks they originally took to be 'bandits'. "I don't mind helping you, but when they day is done we won't have earned anything. Plus we'll have to answer to that Imperial official. Who knows what the cart drivers will have told them about us. We can't exactly claim we didn't see bandits."
He then pauses, looking at Malcom and Gale. "Sure we'll think of something."
“Yes,” Malcom says that it’s a small smile before looking around. “You can come out now.” He says to no one in particular. “Can your friend hear me? Let’s get this show on the road... as Sef said, I’m not sure how much time or leeway we have before the Whitehaven officials begin to become suspicious or worry. I-I don’t mean to sound touchy, but as a caster myself... this whole ordeal is somewhat... stressful. I’ve been in several tight spots in my life, but this. This here is interesting. I hope you can understand.” He says.
OOC: You're with Rax and Sylas. The twins are not insight. As in Rax only seems less intimidating or in a "goid mood" when Bri is around. He looks hard and brooding right now.
"The cart driver's also saw you casting," Sylas replies. "That's something to think on," he adds tapping the side of his nose. "Regardless of how guilty the Empire finds us it seems you've made yourselves outlaws in a sense too," she offers with a shrug.
Then suddenly the sound of oars in the water catches your attention but the boat doesn't appear until it's nearly to the dock. Rax gets up and moves into the water to steady it. Within the boat there are serval hooded figures. Sylas waves as the tiefling throws off his hood.
"What are they doing here," Devlyn demands looking to Sylas then at the party. "And you...your big idiot," he adds looking at Rax who's head and shoulders taller than Devlyn but Rax shrinks with the scolding from his leader. "You two are useless," he chides shaking his head. "Where's the twins," he then asks as the twins appear having arrived just then from up the shore.
There's a pause between the resistance members before Sylas then Brianna speak.
"As you saw they are casters," Sylas explains gesturing at the party. "I'm explained the situation to them," he adds. "I'm always been a better diplomat in chains," he adds chuckling.
"Coast is clear. There's a group of watch guard moving south towards Whitehaven but in doesn't seem like an alarm has been raised," Bri explains approaching with her brother but stopping beside Rax.
"You will explain this." Devlyn says pointing at Sylas. "Let's load the boat and get them out of hear," he adds.
OOC: Perception checks or any other checks you'd like to perform.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"I can help load," Sef says as he heads over to the cart to grab one of the items and take it over to the boat. He tries to get a look at what might be in the boat already, including a glance at the other hooded figures it was carrying. (Perception: 10) He stays quiet, but glances over to Gale now and then to see what she is going to do.
Sef can not make the figures out but Devlyn seems to put himself between the boat and the party.
"We've got it. You've cost us enough today already," Devlyn growls as he and Hagan load up the light craft.
Once loaded the boat moves away from shore and it quickly shrouded in magic invisibility.
"Explain this," Devlyn points at the party his expression hard.

Sef just shrugs, letting Devlyn and Hagan load the boat. He whispers to Gale and Malcom as he watches. "Doesn't really seem like they needed our help. Guess except for the cart. What are we going to do? Try to team up with them? I'm kind of wary of just going back to Whitehaven."
When Devlyn comes over to ask for explanation, Sef looks at the Tiefling nervously for a moment. He answers hesitantly. "We explained to Sylas. Well, and the others." He waves his hand towards Hagan, Brianna, and Rax if they are in sight. "We thought bringing in bandits would be a good way to make some money in an honest way. We had no idea you were part of the resistance. Or that you only go after those directly supporting the Empire." Sef sounds a bit skeptical as he says this last line.
“Yes. We were simply looking for a job and coin to get us to the next day. Were were functioning only off of the info from Whitehaven officials, and the idea that you were bandits was just further driven home by the suspiciousness and hostility of your approach to our wagon. Yes, while we may have been the ones to strike first, we were simply defending ourselves and the other merchants at that point. We had no idea or inclination fo your intentions...” Malcom adds on to Sef’s statement, trailing off at the end.
”The short answer is that I feel our actions were justified, yet if I could go back knowing what I know now then things would’ve been different.”
Devlyn thinks for a moment letting the party speak.
"Thw whole point of the resistance is no one knows who we are Devlyn," Brianna speaks up. "How could they know when the Empire telltales of boogeymen out to get loyal subjects or rogue corrupt casters bent on thievery or murder," she adds sighing. "They could help us," she offers gesturing to the party. "Would you help us," she then asks the party curiously.
OOC: Artemis has ghosted. They won't answer my PMs or posted. We can go on as we are ans I'll sunset Gale or not. My work load isn't changing and weekends are packed with family stuff. I will try to contribute when I can. It's up to y'all.

He motions for Malcom to come closer, lowering his voice to a whisper. "What do you think?"

“Well I’m at least inclined to help for the time being.” Malcom whispers back. “But first I’d like to take care of the Whitehaven officials. Whether that means going back empty handed or with ‘bandits,’ it doesn’t matter to me, it’s just probably not a good idea to be running from more than just the reaping, right?”
Sef nods to Malcom. "You're right, we should make sure things are settled with the Ellyrian official first."
He then turns back to Brianna. "I don't want to become a bandit just attacking anyone on the road. But we're willing to help you. Malcolm and I just need to make sure things are cleared up in Whitehaven. Even if we just go back empty handed, telling them how the bandits bested us."
Sef then glances over to Devlyn. "If you are even interested in our help. And... I do wonder if we could use our 'in' with those officials to provide you guys with information. But probably won't work if we never bring back any bandits... Probably not a good idea."
"I'm not going to take those risks," Gale begins. "Good luck all," she adds before turning from the party and walking towards the road.
