What if Mara had a realm that was similar to the plane of Earth, where there is no sky. This place could be dominated by gnomes and crystals could light the ceilings of great caverns like stars.
I like it, the Crystal I’m not sure about the gnomes but an underdark that isn’t dark sounds neat. Maybe bioluminescence mushrooms and glowing Crystal in the area for Mara and Lava falls and darkness for the areas of Aberros
This underdark plane thingy with the crystals providing light? Sounds like the Underground, you should watch out for Flowey or Sans! ;)
I have edited the planar model based on your comments and wonderful contributions. Sorry about the hiatus and happy Thanksgiving!
The earthen world of Tanmar is disk-shaped and has two domes above and below it. Above is Spheris, the sky. There are a few mountains that reach it, and the aarakocra have a flying island kingdom in this place. Below is (edited) the Undercaves, a dark region beyond simple cave and underground. It resembles the surface world, but is lit by the Greater Crystals that act as stars. Lower down in the Undercaves, it gets more fiery and more Aberros-y. Gnolls and fire giants live down here in their savage cultures, and send emissaries to the Low Plane-- Aberron. The underworld of Aberron is where Aberros lays dormant, his mind sending out instructions to his followers. Opposite Aberron is Iluveron*, the Higher Plane. Good creatures live here, and Tani is directly in this place. The Outer Planes include: the Faewild, linked to Tanmar by magical fairy circles and tree rings and whatnot; the Fire and Water Planes, which orbit each other in a paradoxical perpetual motion design; and the Ethereal Plane. Good guys who die go to Iluveron, and bad guys go to Aberron. Neutral people go to the Ethereal Plane, where they become ghosts.
*Iluveron is sometimes thought of as being withing Tanmar's sun, but that may take some input from the good folks on this forum. I call it Iluveron because of Iluvatar, the high god of Arda and Numenor and stuff.
So flying islands? Should they exist and if so where/how. Would they be limited to a particular area or a general thing, would they be made or natural. Do they have any special life forms (creatures/plants) and do they move/how do they move

(never mind)
Well, remember the post about the sanctuary, Nova Spheris? A long time ago, the aarakocra harnessed pure primal magic to raze the land and take to the heavens(This action cleared the land and tilled the earth, later creating Bhakkia, but that's a story for later). The islands they made are basically Aaqa. They are linked to cloud movement and this is why they are rarely seen. The animals and beasts there, for the most part, have adapted to this life. You can modify their stats by adding a 15 ft hover speed to their stat blocks. Occasionally, the aarakocra link the island to form larger kingdoms. Some islands are big enough to hold an entire Bhakkii tribe, and some are only big enough to put one foot on.
Maybe the lizardfolk live underground in this world, and they could be the ones who torment the Undercave gnomes.
That sounds kinda like a kobold. If you want you can have kobolds and lizardfolk be like goblins and hobgoblins (I heard somewhere that goblins were originally hobgoblin slaves). Maybe the dragons of Tanmar convinced the kobolds to break off and gave them draconic powers for doing so.
Do you think the dragons of this world should be traditional D&D dragons, or should they be like the dragons of Far Eastern myth?
Or maybe far western such as North America and South America
Like Quetzalcoatl or thunder birds? I know a bit about the area but there isn’t really a general dragon for the area that I know of
Quetzalcoatl are dinosaur like dragons that could reach massive sizes.
Quetzalcoatl is the feathered serpent/dragon god of the Aztecs. I guess the name also applies to a dinosaur but I was referring to the god
I wonder if we could make couatls live in the seas. It could be cool if their wings became finlike and their frills became hydrodynamic.
Perhaps the Dire Elves have a stone fortress-city carved from the side of an icy mountain. I don't know. I thought something like that would be cool.
That sounds really cool. The Dire Elves can transform into one animal, so burrowers could have made it. Dire Elves have a caste system, based on their transformation form:
The Amnulkanai (Magical Beast in Dire Elvish) can turn into creatures like pegasi, griffins, or displacer beasts. They serve as leaders or priests.
The Rouhjaka (Great Predator) can turn into powerful hunters such as bears, sharks, or big cats. They act as warriors.
The Slisjaka (Lower Predator) are the widest caste, including wolves, foxes, raptors, and certain reptiles. They are the middle class of artisans.
The Onhasi (Prey) transform into weaker animals. They may be rabbits, snakes, rodents, or small birds. They are the serfs and farmers and stuff.
The Klittse (Lowest) are creatures that don't fit. This includes any kind of arthropod and most kinds of underwater creatures.
Dire Elves are lead by the Marked, a clan of Dire Elves that can turn into red dragons.
Perhaps the Klittse are the fisherman and cartographers of Dire Elf society. They can change into aquatic creatures, which would help with catching fish and crustaceans. Being able to swim across oceans would also help them map far-off areas of the world.

What are the dire elves diets consist of? Because if they eat lots of meat, do they consider eating non shifters fine, but eating a fellow shifter heresy? How do they tell between a shifter and a regular animal? Are certain shifters exempt from this rule, such as lower caste members of the dire elves?

Eating another dire elf is just wrong in all of their societies. When a Dire Elf is born, they have a small sign on the back of their left hand that determines what they shift into (forms are mainly hereditary). Dire elves are lawful evil, so they wouldn't stoop as low as cannibalism. Gnolls, however...
Speaking of which, what would gnoll society look like? Do they have towns or cities, or are they just wandering nomads?
Depends. Most are tribes that move seasonally (much like Bhakkii humans) but some of the greater tribes build permanent settlements. So, sort of like Native Americans.

Do these tribes ever engage in trade, higher governance (via tribal councils or some other such means) or is it more like "Oh look, gnoll from other tribe." THWACK! "Now he's dinner." I'd imagine it's some combination of the two, sometimes warring and sometimes allies? If they have separate tribes, have there ever been any great gnoll kings to unite them?

Gnolls are incredibly selfish. They believe the strong should rule the weak, and the weak should obey the strong. Within their own clans, they don't kill each other unless food is low. Gnolls will make truces with other clans if it benefits them, but if they meet non-trucie clans or members of other races... "THWACK!"
Soooooooo it's confession time. I am not especially good at homebrew subclasses, so I need one of y'all to help me make the Circle of the Tattooist (for druids). If you need info on Tanmar stuff I've made so far, search these things.
Perhaps Illuveron and Aberron Soul Sorcerers can be a thing. Their magic is tied to those planes, but for what reason none can say. Perhaps the gods were just bored?

Good idea. What class would this world fall into? Heroic fantasy, dark fantasy, swords n' sorcery, what do you think?

I think there should be aspects of everything. Maybe one village is cursed with lycanthropy, and that quest to change them back is in the dark fantasy style. This makes it so that every style gets some love, and I think that makes the most sense for an aggressively non-stereotypical world.
