It certainly seems that Dndbeyond is reducing the amount of resources dedicated to fixing bugs and making efforts since Adam left. Presumably its more exciting to spend money on marketing gimmicks than content and core services.
If I sound salty, look for the forum on the divine soul sorcerer spell swap (allowing you to swap out the divine sorcerer spell granted at first level to expand spell options for the sorcerer). This core element of the subclass has been in progress for nearly 3 YEARS.
Well Adam was around for those nearly 3 years so I don't think that helps your argument, whether you put it in caps or not.
Accommodating a UA I wouldn't call fixing bugs, and I'm not sure I'd even fault them for efforts. They feywild folks added a new way of innate spells to be tracked in the spell tracker. Based on the discussion on topic here, it seems like some of the kobold features might be tough for the way DDB currently works. There was lot in this UA, more than I'd say the past five UA. It happens.

Quite the contrary. Haven’t you noticed how extra glitchy it’s been the past couple weeks, and extra bad the past few days. I’ve noticed whenever these sorts of glitch waves usually roll through they seem to generally precede a substantial update of some sort. Now I am even more sure that either an update recently happened behind the scenes, or there will be a public update in the near future. Sorce has been a busy bee, and he seems to be going out of his way to pollinate separate, but interrelated bug reports in suspiciously old threads… https://www.dndbeyond.com/members/Sorce/posts
So if you watch the weekly update video on YouTube they have gone over the "ETA" as its being worked on but not a priority since there are options from published works that need to be added first. I believe it's a few subclasses and Lycanthrops options they are currently trying to code which might get hairy.

The Circle of Hedgehogs Druid Beholder/Animated Armor Level -20 Bardof the OIADSB Cult, here are our rules.Sig.Also a sauce council member, but it's been dead for a while.
Every time they've released something like a NEW KIND OF VIRTUAL DICE I've gone back to see if they've fixed basic things like "Bladesinging," and unless I'm missing something, I still have to use a homebrew magic item to make that work. The signature feature of an entire subclass, just....doesn't exist. Life Cleric, thankfully, is no longer my go-to argument here.
While it's disappointing that it's taking them so long to get UA races up, I'm not really surprised that their staff time appears focused on excitedly announcing weird subscriber "perks" that I don't think anyone cares about.

I think once the dice roller was put in place, the folks who largely code D&D Beyond for races and the character sheet functionality aren't really involved in graphic design/animation. I'm also guessing the folks who manage community and announce things like subscriber perks are also not involved in coding the site. Rather they're just making available things that have been warehoused for a while.

I'm sorry, this is unrelated to the main forum post, but wow! Another Scarred Lands player in the wild! The campaign I was playing in the setting died, unfortunately, but it's cool to see other people are out there playing it!

The developer videos are showing they want to overhaul the root of the system to make it more user friendly. Especially in the way of homebrew. You may be right there will be a significant retooling soon. Sadly we may have to make our own homebrew versions of the UA until the source material drops in the DragonLance book.
Also have they solved the proficency uses per issue that came up in Tasha's that was causing issues the last time i checked
PB is functional as a use limiter for Actions, but not yet Spells. So the Circle of Stars is still being worked on. They are also still working on getting monsters in Extras to be able to pull stuff like Spell Attack and PB from the character sheet to populate stuff for Artificers and the new Ranger companions.

Well, I already did that Variant Kobold, crossed “t”s, dotted “I”s and everything. (At least as well as the system allows.) Those Dragonborn variants shouldn’t be any issue at all, at least they all looked totally doable to me from what I remember. So if that’s the case then I’ll do them if I need to.
I wonder if it's not just the fact that Kobold is UA that completely overwrites an existing bit of content. Over time there will be "original Kobold," "UA Kobold," and "new Kobold." All of these need to be distinguishable but they all have the exact same name. Say you see Kobold [archived] on your DDB character after the new published version comes out. Is that the original version archived or the UA version? Are these even meant to overwrite each other or will the published content indicate that they are actually subraces? I would bet that some of this had not even been decided at the time of the UA release, so DDB is in a tough position trying to code all this in a way that doesn't cause problems if WotC pulls back from its original position which is already a bit vague no matter how you look at it.
Why should that be any issue at all? In the PHB there is technically no such thing as a “Variant Human,” there is simply a small bit of boxed text that offers “variant Human traits.” DDB technically had to invent it as a “Race Variant,” and because the workflow requires a name, they labeled it “Variant Human.” This Kobold should theoretically work the same way, simply call it “Variant Kobold (UA)” and if it ever goes to print there would be a “Variant Kobold” listed, and floating around somewhere would be various PCs that would inevitably still use this version and it would just end up displaying as “Variant Kobold (Archived)” after DDB updates the name to reflect the status.
If I were a betting man, and I am, my money would go on the fact that it is currently not possible in DDB’s system to implement options within options, nor are they allowed to add features that should not exist. So to actually implement this “Variant Kobold,” they would have to create the middle option as three distinct options, one for each of the potential spellcasting Abilities. I presume that would probably be okay by WotC since so many of the already published official feats had to be implemented in a similar fashion. (Not to mention all of the other jank workarounds they’ve had to implement in order to overcome their software limitations. 😒) However, DDB would also have to create a “Sunlight Tolerant” trait (or some such other) to replace the “Sunlight Sensitivity” trait Kobolds normally have, and that may be an issue for them depending on the terms of their contract. And it may not be something they are necessarily willing to throw dollars at lawyers to figure out since this is only UA.
What reason do I have to put my bet on that being a likely issue? Because earlier today I started to construct this Variant Kobold if for no other reason than to prove RaoGung’s guess as incorrect. (Yeah, I know, it would’ve been a jerk move on my part. It was immature of me. I had a bad morning and was feeling particularly antagonistic.) I got exactly halfway through when I understood why it would be an issue. (That’s why I came back just to say I believe RaoGung was in fact correct. I’m at least mature enough to give credit when due and to admit I was both wrong and jerkish.)
Edit: PS- I went back and finished creating this Kobold, snippets, actions and all. if anyone is interested in a copy, PM me.
Lol. I’m glad I could inspire innovation. :) If that is the result please prove me wrong any day.
My guess is the team won’t upend the system for something that won’t be permanent. Which is why the Player Class Variants didn’t make it during the UA. I think Adam said he didn’t think they would actually be final published material, but when the had to implement it the team had to change it a lot to make those options work.
It seems they are going to try to make this stuff easier to roll out in the future and make this kinda stuff easy to do. Even one day let use homebrew our own classes. But they ain’t there yet.
They probably want to tone something down or balance them a bit. Maybe they’ve done some play testing amongst inner groups and found one subtype to be way better than another and want to make each equally desirable.

That would have absolutely nothing to do with this. That all is handled by WotC, the company that publishes D&D. They don’t own this website, this website is owned by Fandom.

To elaborate on 'Sposta's response while I wait for them to get back to me in a high stakes PBP contest of gambling skill, UA are developed by the design team and released to the public for play testing. DDB is in the practice of giving its community access to most, but not all UA, via the character builder. It's not a permanent thing. If you build something with UA and keep it in you collection it stays, but eventually (usually when WotC says something to the effect of "here's another try at this idea" "yeah, we've decided this doesn't work" or "ta-da now in an official sourcebook release") the option is disabled for new use.
Sposta seems to be able to build them through homebrew, so it's not like DDB can't make it work, it just seems like they may be focusing on the lifting for the new sourcebook coming out next week. Lately, new sourcebooks come online to DDB not fully implemented, and people who pay for that content have complained. It makes sense to me that development is prioritizing content people are actually paying for as opposed to what's basically a courtesy freebie to the DDB community.
Given that the release of Ravenloft will replace some of the UA which is currently live with official versions, it wouldn’t surprise me if this UA went live at the same time, or shortly after.
