There's been a lot of talk for years that spellcasters are too strong and need to be 'nerfed.' Banishment might be an example of what that might look like. They could be looking at toning down any spell that just ends encounters. I'm not saying this particular change is good or bad. But it might be one of the ways they are trying to address some common complaints. It's worth looking out for.
could be. Its single target without upcasting which makes it high risk as is. 1-2 rounds isn't much of a reward for that risk. If going this model they probably need to have lesser effects on a save.

I agree with this. Single target at level 4 that doesn't let you hit it and they get repeat saves + halved range seems like an over nerf.
Even if someone votes Very Dissatisfied on every element of a thing, it doesn't mean that they don't want anyone to ever have it. It just means they don't like any part of it. There isn't some secret motive to steal it from other people. I voted negatively on almost the entire Rogue class. That doesn't mean I really want it gone from the book. Same with a number of other things. No one is lying just for answering the survey truthfully. No one should have to take a poll of everyone just to see if other people really like something before they answer the survey. The survey is the poll.
Hmmmm - I wonder if the way they incorporated Healing + Damage into every Cleric via Channel Divinity: Divine Spark might be a hint to Warlock getting Eldritch Blast as a base feature.
We also got Hunter's Mark as a base feature for Rangers .... something many MANY people all over the interwebs were advocating for.

I fully expect that’s what’s going to happen regarding Eldritch Blast.

Probably, it might still end up being a cantrip and the feature grants the cantrip. This way it still interacts with things like war caster and spell sniper. In fact, if I were a betting man (I am not) I would probably put money on it.
So now that Spiritual Weapon requires concentration how badly do you think this will effect the results of the survey?
Depends. Over all it is a nerf but the fact that the damage it now deals kind of mitigates it a bit with it now scaling at +1D8 per spell level above 2nd instead of every two spell levels above 2nd. It makes it less desirable for melee focus builds of cleric but great to more range build. I bet they are going to restrict clerics to play in a certain playstyle rather than the variety they could do in 5e just like they did with rogues in 6e. I would rather want to keep the 5e version than the new one.

I expect them to, but I really hope they do it in a more flexible way; I've played a few warlocks and never gone the eldritch-blaster route, I'd much rather see them do something that allows for a choice of cantrips to be viable. Alternatively they could just make eldritch blast generally available on the arcane list, but lower its damage dice, then move pacts to 1st-level (since sub-class will presumably go to 3rd) with one offering an early boost to a chosen cantrip (so eldritch blast can still be stronger for a low level warlock), then pact-specific eldritch invocations building on top of that?

My friend somehow broke sorcerer and made a lightning origami dragon that did like 500 damage. Don’t ask me how.

OMG I need to know this story, I know you told me not to ask, but like put it in a story time thread or in the sorc thread or something. I gotta know.
Everybody has their opinions. Just it’s not my cup of tea.

I said don’t ask cuz I don’t know. Was still a beginner then.

To be fair, I think this might a DM problem, because there is nothing in Artificer that specifically says they can do that. That was 100% GM fiat.
Oh good. I may not hate artificer after all.
*Remembers guns*
Oh wait.

Guns are an optional rule, so technically also DM fiat.
