Hey, that’s all I really wanted to hear was a “yes, we are still doing the thing,” so I’m contented for the time being. Acknowledgement that it is still ongoing.
If you missed today's Dev Update, Adam did mention it, although it was not featured on any of the slides. We are still actively working on them! If you want to view today's Dev Update, it should be on our YouTube channel later today.
I have to say I'm not very impressed with this. Historically D&D Beyond's team have done a great job promptly incorporating new content, including UA material, into their product. I understand that this was a larger effort, and for a few of the features (only) required some things to be flexible that were not previously flexible. I was thus happy with the "not this week, not even this month". But it's been well over five months at this point, coming up fast on six. That's far too long for the near-complete lack of communication and updates on the subject.
At this point it rather looks like Beyond were really hoping WotC would abandon this stuff and doing little or nothing on it for the last few months, and have only very recently realized that actually, that's probably not going to fly (maybe there's been some kind of internal nod from WotC on this stuff). That's not great, even if it's just how it appears.
Even if that wasn't the case, what's much harder to forgive here is not implementing the stuff which was easy to implement. For example, the spells being added to spell lists. This is something that is routinely done. My characters have many UA spells on their lists. There's nothing stopping the Beyond team from adding that stuff, which would be pretty great, because it fixes several notable holes in various spell lists.
Equally most/all of the "Enhances" rather than "Replaces" features could be implemented without recoding - in most cases they're simply additional text (Monk weapons for example is one of the few that might require new code, so it's fine if that has to wait). I suspect the same is true of the Fighting Style options, but obviously I don't know the code the Beyond team are working with.
I feel like, if we're looking at more than another month (bringing it up to seven months for this) for this to be implemented, they'd be better off just implementing what can be done without re-coding stuff, and even that would be pretty significant, and would certainly cast a different light to complete lack of progress info we've had so far.
Thank you, I don't think I would have found that, given the thread title, where it is in the forum, and so on.
So six days ago they said "the next couple of weeks". I guess that gives them eight days technically, but if it's inside of the month that seems fine to me. Interesting that contrary to one of their other posts, he says they've been on this for 9 months, and it is more extensive. I still think that if they don't manage this promptly, they need to add the material that can be added (I know it can be done with spells for example), but hopefully that will be moot.
I really hope so. Im playing the new Ranger UA class variant since January. I keep checking for updates hoping they release this UA before my campaign ends.

Does anyone know if the UA has been posted for character building yet? Or, do we still need to HB it?
Not yet. Shouldn’t be more than 3-6 weeks is my guesstimate based on the dev updates, but my estimate could be completely off for all I know.

I think its almost time for the release. lol
Edit: it's*
Possibly. With the new Character sheet almost ironed out, all the stuff that needed it to work might be right around the corner!
