First off forgive me for putting this here if it's the wrong spot still not really sure where to ask questions really. OK my question is how would you program a character with a racial trait that could be turned off and on say a custom warforged subrace that if he or she lose their power source they take a hit to their stats or for another race if they have an ability active when not wearing armor if they put some on we can turn it off somehow. Does anyone know how to do that?
DNDBeyond doesn't really support temporary effects like that. You would need to just put in the description of the effect and the player would have to either customise the relevant part of their sheet manually or you could make a Feat that the player could add/remove that does the same thing.
I believe temporary effects are planned but they're likely to be a long way off.
Or create a homebrew item that goes in the player's inventory that adds the boosts/features when you equip it, and removes the boosts/features when unequipped.
There is an overhaul planned for the Character sheet for later this year, and possibly an overhaul to the homebrew system as well. Since people have been asking for temporary effects a bit lately, that function might come with one of those updates.

You could manage this by creating a RACIAL TRAIT that has OPTIONS.
You could then go into the CHARACTER BUILDER to toggle the options, to change the stats on the character sheet accordingly.
