I am one of 6 players (not including DM) in my group who want to play Dragon Heist. The problem is, we don't want it to take 30 minutes of the 2 hour session to do anything, . What should I do?
Players: Me, 2 people who have played for a few years, 2 people who started their first adventure a few months ago, and 1 player who has never played before.
I ran it with 6 players in my gaming group and it went fine. There is nothing particular about Dragon Heist that would make it take longer than any other 6 person game.
Some general notes for 6 person games, is you can't have people distracted at the table / their computers. And think about what you want to do in combat sooner than the start of your turn.
How did you get on with six players. I’m currently running it with 3 players who each have two characters but definitely finding combat too easy for the pcs in chapter one, I’ve even upped the kenku from 4 to 6 at the Zent warehouse , added another Gaza’s in the sewers to make two, and on the boss battle in the sewers they were not far off taking out the mind flayed before it dominated a pc and fled through the portal.
I should have put the note in my original reply, but I heavily modified the adventure from as written, because I hated Chapters 2-4.
I actually didn't scale the chapter 1 encounters, because the dice were not in my party's favor. In Chapter 2, I pretty much rewrote everything, but that is because there wasn't enough details in that chapter as presented. Chapter 3 I tweaked the enemies to make it harder. And I pretty much ignored the first half of Chapter 4 because I hated it; and did my own thing.
