Hello. Over the last day or so, I have been trying to make a shield which initially gives an AC bonus of 0 + Dex Modifier (max 2) to create a buckler which initially relies on the nimbleness of its user. Each attempt I make trying to create this thing ends in it not functioning. Is it even possible to have the dex modifier added to the shield in the first place? Here is the original modifier base I keep using in order to attempt making this thing. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Bonus - Armor class: -2 [Remove the initial +2 of shield bonus]
Bonus - Armor class: DEX [add dex modifier into the fray, not functional]
Set - AC Max Dex Modifier: 2 [set the maximum the shield can give in AC]

If there is no solution towards making this from a shield base, are there any recommendations from you all towards a different custom item route which will give the same effect? Let me know what you guys find, thanks in advance.
AC automatically included the character’s Dex mod. A character’s base AC calculation is 10+Dex mod. A shield makes it 10+Dex mod+2. All your “buckler” is doing is making it 10+Dex mod+0.
RAW, a buckler is a type of shield, and therefore uses the same +2 as every other shield.
