I've created a Magic Item which allows the user to cast the Fire Bolt cantrip at level 5 (once per long rest).
Creating item is fine, have put the spell level as 5 in the edit spell info of the item. But on the character sheet it only displays damage as 1d10, and not the 2d10 which it should be, casting at level 5.
The character holding the item is level 4. Because this is a cantrip, will it only display as 2d10 when the player is level 5? Any way round this apart from creating a custom spell?

That’s because the “Spell Level” for a Cantrip can never be 5. The spell level never changes, the character level does.
You could the effects that you want instead of the actual spell in the homebrew creator for that particular item.
