I want to give one of my players a sword that has on both sides some script, one in draconic, the other in celestial.

I would want it to say "i serve justice with retribution" But im not sure if that is correct english. Does that sentence make sense to native english speakers?

It sounds a little bit epic, which I think is appropriate for script written on a sword. I would leave it like it is.

sounds ok ot me but if we go a bit deeper...

The Definition of Justice is "just behaviour or treatment." and retribution is "punishment inflicted on someone as vengeance for a wrong or criminal act."

So by having it say "I Serve Justice with Retirbution" it sounds like a Batman style vigilante or a Judge Dredd style law enforcer.

Retribution in the service of Justice

But what happens if the PC uses the weapon in a murder hobo fashion?  Is the weapon sentient?

 This is a weapon similar to a holy avenger that will be given to a holy paladin. The weapon itself will be called "Retribution"

Thats kinda what im going for. The whole idea is for a paladin that broke his oath and went on a more destructive path but later turns around ever so slightly. Basically an oathbreaker paladin that later switches to a Path of Redemption paladin.
