I recently checked out the Shovel Knight class guide and thought to myself, "This class seems cool! I'd be interested in trying it out." However, I really prefer to use D&DBeyond when playing. So, that led me to thinking: Are we ever going to get the option to homebrew actual classes instead of just subclasses?
I can't see any downsides about adding that feature, but I'm not saying they don't exist. I just can't see them right now.
I love making my rune scribe class. But I would be kinda annoyed having to put it all in etc. And also that people would make stuff like my old homebrew (it's AWFUL - I didn't do anything more that about five words, no bonuses etc. ), without knowing what they are doing. I know that may be the case now, but homebrew classes are so much harder. Also, it would be annoying to create a class, when you want a subclass. Also, how would they decide on levels and whether or not it has the desired abilities, too similar etc.

If I could have made it on DDB, the Psionicist Class I’ve been working on would be closer to done by now, and I wouldn’t still have to enter it here when they do let us do it.
An obvious yes. It's just a "when" issue right now for them. It would be nice to have, as right now I have "public" homebrews so I can make links for an external document. If we could homebrew classes, then all could be contained on site and probably kept private. Sorry to the community for putting up with my bad ideas!
Yeah I could've used it to gain publicity for my vampire class. I was thinking of starting a thread for accumulating the various links to the various documents with the various homebrewed classes users like us have created.

It is apparently planned for the future, just no telling how long it will take.
