Tell me what you think of this race (based on the monster):
Thri-Kreen Race Details
Thri-kreen wander the deserts and savannas of the world, avoiding all other races.
Limited Emotions
Thri-kreen experience the full range of emotions but aren't as prone to emotional outbursts as humans. Thri-kreen with psionic ability often demonstrate a wider range of emotions, particularly if they live near or interact with humans or other highly emotional creatures.
Isolationists and Wanderers
Thri-kreen consider all other living creatures as potential nourishment, and they love the taste of elf flesh in particular. If a creature might be useful for something other than food, the thri-kreen aren't likely to attack it on sight. Thri-kreen kill to survive, never for sport.
Thri-Kreen Traits
Thri-kreen share some traits with each other, and by extension, with you.
Ability Score Increase
Your Constitution score increases by 1, and your Dexterity score increases by 2.
Age
The average thri-kreen life expectancy is only thirty years. This may be because they do not sleep.
Alignment
Thri-Kreen are usually neutral and often chaotic.
Size
Thri-Kreen are usually taller and thinner than humans. Your size is Medium.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 40 feet.
Darkvision
You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Chameleon Carapace
Thri-kreen can change the color of their carapace to match the color and texture of their surroundings as they become older. As a result, once you become level 3, you have advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made to hide, and while you aren’t wearing armor, your Armor Class is 13 + your Dexterity modifier.
Standing Leap
Your long jump is up to 30 feet and your high jump is up to 15 feet, with or without a running start.
Languages
You can speak, read, and write Common and Thri-Kreen. Thri-Kreen is a language without words. To show emotion and reaction, a thri-kreen clacks its mandibles and waves its antennae, giving other thri-kreen a sense of what it is thinking and feeling. Other creatures find this manner of communication difficult to interpret and impossible to duplicate.
Bite
You have the ability to inflict crippling venom on those you bite. When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike using your bite, that creature must make a Constitution saving throw or be poisoned for 1 minute. The save DC is equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier. If that creature fails the save by 5 or more, they are paralyzed while poisoned in this way. A creature poisoned in this way can repeat the save at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. You can only bite once per turn.
Arms
Thri-Kreen have four arms. However, each arm is significantly weaker than other humanoids’ arms. You also have four arms, but you require two arms to hold an object that normally takes one arm to hold, or four arms for an object that normally takes two arms to hold, or one arm for an object that has the lightproperty.
It is a bit strong, but change the stealth advantage at level three to stealth proficiency at level one and it should be fine. I am not a great hombrewer and don’t really make races, though, so I’m not sure.

That's a loooot of features.
I think you should pick the things you want to focus on. Is it the 40ft walking speed and advantage on stealth? Is it the natural armor AC and a bite attack (which is way OP, like poisoned is really strong but paralysis is no bueno)? Is it being able to wield weapons and shields while maintaining a free hand for spellcasting? Pick a niche you want to fill and trim features based on that.

I think changing th ASI is not the best idea. The +2/+1 is what all races have. Maybe remove a feature or something? Bite is still a bit powerful, but that's probably fine.

Not really... I'll mention that Mountain Dwarf, Half-Elf, and Kobolds are some notable examples of lineages that don't have the archetypal 2/1 ASI

Okay, I guess your right. But no race has a +1/+1. There's a first time for everything, but the only rave I can think of that doesn't have a +2 is triton, and it's notorious for having a bad ASI.
But Yamana_Eajii has a point, +1/+1 could work... It just feels so terrible not to have a +2. I'd take another +1 dex over standing leap or arms any-day.

Harpy, Variant Human, Custom Lineage, they do exist. Triton actually has 3 +1s, which with the lineage rules now is perfectly normal. Just supplying evidence - the ASI's aren't even meant for balance, it's meant for stereotypes (as Jeremy Crawford said himself)
I made my own version of a Thri-Kreen race, but I haven't written down all of the lore stuff yet.

I realize that Tritons are 3 +1s, all I said is they don't have a +2. And they do need to be balanced even if they are for stereotypes too. That's why human has no features, because they're ASI is +6. It's why there are no races that give +4 of a stat.
I personally believe that any arguments against the lineage ASIs on the basis of "power balance" is irrelevant, just like your so-maligned Sorcerer-Warlock, Polearm-Sentinel, etc. (which don't even work), and the changing ASIs actually generally makes power levels lower. Min-maxing is not inherently evil, and it's not a bad thing really!
No, I said I wouldn't argue. So I will keep my opinion to myself, because you will refuse to understand in your dogmatic view that Tasha's destroyed your so-beloved races and your ignorance to the absolute harm these cause, on the basis of "balance". Is balance really that important? Is it more important than black people being throttled to death on the streets?
No, you won't understand, so I'll just keep quiet. Because, I can only ever argue when I talk, and I can't be productive when it comes to issues such as this.

I agree. I think changing which ability score that is increased is totally fine!
(Oh, and Sorcerer-Warlock, Polearm-Sentinel does actually kinda work. I played it with some other people playing min-maxed builds so we could defeat multiple challenge rating 20+ monsters at once... And we could pump out hundreds of damage every round constantly.)

Uh, as far as I have heard, "notorious for having a bad ASI.", "However, the same is not true for min-maxing purposes. For instance, you say that half orc is more meant for melee than a drow. True, but many min-maxers get up to shenanigans with racial features and don't use them for the intended purpose. So for instance, I've seen min-maxers use half-orc's relentless endurance, not to make them a better melee combatant, but to do a crazy shenanigan involving breaking a staff of the magi to kill everyone around them, then avoid dying using relentless endurance.", "make min-maxing a bit easier.
