Anyway, I take out a blade that is 50 by 50 feet large and deliver a series of attacks on the godmodder, and then fire a blast of freezing energy.
Uh, lots. Right now there's a crowd of AGs on the field breaking things, a secondary area you probably don't need to bother with, and a lot of confusion.
Surprisingly enough, there is a reason for the cogworks inside of his stall. The cogworks are part of a complicated piece of machinery that will be used in the process of bringing the intended summon to the battlefield.
That's actually the reason the Shopkeep needs the alloying station, even. If it were just the gears then he'd be able to just make them out of whatever so long as it's durable enough since he only needs the machine once. But for this particular instance, he needs them to be made out of electrum as a specific set of the gears will be conducting energies in different ways through the machine while they turn.
But, uh, since some energy is required in the analysis machine, I slot a little bit of the shopkeep's power in there. The action being analyzed will be retrieved afterwards, but for right now, it's being used there. Additionally, next post I'll probably swap some of Algot's energy since there's an action or two's worth of that sitting in the Monolithium repository for me to use as an extra data set.
Additionally, the flying spaghetti monster is ordered to bodyguard the analysis machine as well. The Shopkeep pulls out a deck of cards and plays Go Fish with the Terror Pants and Flying Spaghetti Monster so that the three of them have something to do for the moment. They also make guesses as to what the Spirit Savant is gonna be. Shopkeep's guessing Eishalon III, Manifest of Reluctance

an idea occurs to you: Perhaps there are better materials you could use for the gears? shpokeep energy added to machine. Your phone starts ringing. it sounds like the godmodder is calling you. do you even have a phone? you're not sure. it also seems like, wherever this phone is from, its the sort that plays out a message as it's being recorded, even without being picked up. the Godmodder has said: You wanna bet on that? my guess is 'you'll be wrong'... and before you accuse me of cheating, the answers too inconvenient to bother changing.
Hm... so not ANY refined Hemp String can be chosen. It has to be more unique to this realm. Probably means there is not a lot of it instead of some kind of wordplay... which means my dreams of mass manufacturing... sigh
Hmm... how is 1 PM going? I call the station for an update on the mining operation. Then I need an axe... but there is the mistake. Using an axe is way too slow. So I draw a katana from thin air and slash in a horizontal line. There is a short flash and then the wind produced by the slash lets the trees topple from their stumps (the cut severed them in a clean cut). I repeat this procedure to get my woodworking up, teleporting towards trees... (you can't teleport behind trees bc they don't have a behind... clever strategy trees) and cutting them quickly.
I put the wood into the factory to refine it. Might want to build something out of wood... er... I just give the refined wood to Srovy maybe he can do something with it.
it's getting dark, but they've collected a fair bit of quicksalt. You ate now more skilled at 'woodcutting'- specifically, the katana branch of woodcutting. woodworking is when you make things with wood, however. The refining factory station can give you refined wood paper or refined wood planks. woodworking is easiest to practice with planks.
quests: Chluuug 1 time - - - Do 1 damage to a certain Godmodder - - - Destroy "The Maniac" I guess, cause I can't think of anything- - -( I read to around page 40, stopped, and now am joining the game)
I also cast bless on everyone who is opposing the godmodder
in the future, use the 'edit post' button to add additional actions to a post. since breaking a rule should have consequence, only the first half of your double-post will be counted. You cast Meteor storm! The maniac quickly points out that spell doesn't exist. out of shame from its malformed name (for while there is nothing inherently wrong with the name, the storms parents were very drunk when they named it, and that's why it has the wrong one), the Storm runs off, crying. it cuts a long scar into the surrounding countryside (except the trees, which it bounces off), but does not hit the Maniac.
I, a bumbling Aarakocra with absolutely no idea whats going on, walk in and throw a sword in a random direction. I then proceed to watch the battle whilst eating a lovely meal of ham. I've got 11 ham rolls if anyone's interested in healing up.
you throw a sword. it whiffs past one of the entities, who yells at you in indignation while you sit down with your ham rolls of +2 hp. tasty.
The shopkeep waves hello to Worm and Dwarf, and hands them fliers for the auction. If they choose to open the flier I'll describe it. As for right now, it appears to have clipart of Goku going super sayan on the front, and letters in overly large font. Dwarf's copy has a few notes in the corner arguing over whether the flier's design is tacky or not.
The shopkeep gets back to work, swapping one action of his own out for one of Algot's that was stored in the Monolithium charge and deposits the Algot energy into the analysis machine.
Bounties: Ideas into godmodder vs. player energy conversion: 1 credit for every idea that gets me closer, 5 credits for every major breakthrough idea. 25 credits to anyone who manages to kickstart me to the end.
Algot energy transfered! That's a fairly decent statistical base! The Spirit Savant asks if it can take the Eishaic Scythe on a loan. It's not making any decisions yet or anything, just wants to know all its options. To really be sure what to do, it should probably set up a few 30-year longitudinal studies on the value of credits and scythes... but this part's easy to find, so.
after finishing my Ham Roll, I decide to talk to the Godmother (by using the Common Language). "Hi!", I say, approaching the Godmother with the utmost stupidity, "Can you please die? I've got this cool sword here and I took a bet that I could kill you with it! How about it?" . I grin stupidly, and it's clear to see that I am blissfully unaware of anything dangerous around me. "please help me, if I fail this I owe Randal 476gp and I don't have that sort of money on me..."
The Godmodder explains that even if he let you attack, which he won't, his immune system would likely stop your sword before the 3 damage mark, and he has hundreds of health.
Seeing I have nothing to do, I charge the cranker and text Aeisenberg "Why is your profile pic a Yu-Gi-Oh character with meme text?"
Quests: Destroy the Maniac- - -Do 1 damage to the godmodder- - - Charge the cranker- - -Tell me what Phil is and what is the update room and what is the analysis machine. PLease. I will give you stuff for each thing you tell me.- - -
while there is no post between these, it's due to Sirnaturewriter having been in a sidequest, so this seemingly-double-post is acceptable. You +1 charge pionoplayer for sure this time.
OOC: Worm, what are you even charging? You keep clulkingiunging but you aren't saying anything about what you're charging. Phil is a super entity "a flex tape angel" that showed up a little before I rejoined the game. I don't think I understand his motives but he's attacked the players quite viciously. The update room had something to do with the updates of the game, it's really only notable because the Godmodder locked everyone in there and some of us haven't bothered to leave yet even though the way out was opened. The analysis machine is something I'm doing to open up more business opportunities for myself. Sorta a sidequest I'm doing, so you don't gotta worry about it aside from knowing that if you try and mess with it I will kick your butt with 65 charge worth of angry entities.
The shopkeep waits on nature's teleportation bit to finish, and starts sorting out metals in his backpack.
Worm attempts to wave at Piono, but since technically there's not a Piono on the field and only the Shopkeep, he fails and opts to wave at the Shopkeep instead, who waves back absentmindedly. He then opens to find the interior of the flier much more tastefully designed, with no clipart or glitter to be found anywhere. Actually it might be a little too conservative, but the color schemes are nice and the font is really convincing.
"Hello potential future customer, to the Shopkeep's Auction explanative flier. Ever find yourself in need of backup firepower in the fight against... anything really? You're in luck, because our little stall, despite its humble appearance, is quite capable of granting you the aid you seek. Simply spend actions helping the Shopkeep with his chargings, and you will accumulate Credits. There are other ways to get credits as well, usually listed in the 'Bounties' section of the shop info. Once you have accumulated enough credits, you can purchase things from the storefront Or simply let your credits accumulate and win one of the shop auctions! All items are sold well below market value, making it well within your interests to lend a hand. How do we turn a profit? Simple, we don't! Capitalism is for nerds so one of our investments is in subverting its policies. More information can be found by talking to your local shopkeep."

Technically, Phil swift has only attacked 1) someone who tried to steal from them and 2) Aeisenberg, and they haven't done any notable damage to anyone. Looking through your metals, you seem to have enough to fix the gears with electrum, except for the minor improvements adding platinum would provide. on the other hand, there may be better options out there.
A Meteor Swarm- as opposed to storm- appears! The Maniac tells it about how sad its third cousin four times removed is, and the swarm runs off to comfort them. well, flys off. By the power of FriEⁿdship, the Meteor Storm is revived. they're having a conversation with the swarm. Divine Power: 125 strange... the files refer to this variable as 'black magic'.

so... you hold a giant square on a stick... how does... I don't think that makes sense for combat. Luckily, this weapon is so ridiculous from any practical perspective, the Godmodder doesn't have any practice dodging it. Unluckily, the impracticality of the weapon leads to it not working so good anyway. The Godmodder is unprepared for the blast, but manages to escape. Stories will be told of your valiant efforts for generations, to children as a role model, to adults as history, and everything in between. you will doubtless be remembered for thousands of years, or perhaps even... forever?

You think Phil should be able to fly you down, though the magical flows may do something... if you don't wish to risk it, climbing down like any other mountain Should work. As you consider this, you notice yourself gaining 30000, and then 2530, experience. Looking over the notifications, you determine this experience is being granted for 'discovering' the area you are in. this grants you level 20, and leaves 3030 experience afterwards. yyyyay? probably? Phil seems to think basically any direction could be interesting and doesn't know enough to really advise you.
Fair enough. I'll scale down the mountain from the northwestern side, and have Phil carefully follow behind me. NOT flying, though. I don't want to risk any magical mishaps yet...

I stretch my arm and grab me some quicksalt. Then I throw it into the factory to refine it into crystal form. Using crystal quicksalt on the gathered trees, turns them into salt and that pretty quick. I make more salt with the wood. This counts as making a thing with wood right? RIGHT? The forest is getting so salty that even the other "gamers" feel it. That is not healthy. I throw all of the salt into the factory, attempting to craft a concentrated potion of unhealthyness.
Actually I feel my motivation dwindling. When will there be results? When will there be a "that's right it works"? Am I wasting my time playing Confront the Godmodder?
The shopkeep picks up the phone. It's probably actually a banana but it seems to be working just fine so we'll ignore that. "No I don't want to bet on that, I have very good reason to believe you already know what's coming so if you think I'm wrong I probably am."
The shopkeep shakes his head at the savant. "Sorry, I don't do loans."
The shopkeep stops and thinks, that is true, there are probably better materials available, he only chose electrum as he didn't think there'd be a ton of time to scrounge up something better. He spreads out a sheet before him, he needs something can be used as a conductor and modifier of holy magic, with a mix of more general conductivity (both electrical and magical) and with enough general strength to operate as gears for a little bit. While electrum matches all of those functions, better magical conductivity could be done and if anything using demonic, or more preferably, cosmic magic could be successfully incorporated into the design that would be useful as well.

You successfully climb down. near the bottom, the spires slope evens out. additionally, now that you're closer you can see a large amount of fork-wielding fish-men clammering around in the water, some trying to reach you, though they seem to be having trouble climbing. Hm... the Auto-cranker there seems a bit... yeah, no. you successfully give pionoplayer a box! It may be useful for scrap metal. in theory, it's possible for it to spontaneously rearrange itself into a helpful machine! In practice, this is functionally impossible, but hey! Scrap metal! You then put a cloth on your scrap metal, wiping it off. it is now 'shiny scrap metal'! A portal, you say? I don't see a portal anywhere! that's all quite strange of you to talk about... also, levels? Items don't level up! not unless they're made to do that...

Hm... mithril, mithril... I should really clean this database up, come to think of it... I don't think I have anything listed under Mithril, though I'm not sure exactly what Mithril is... There are a variety of celestially attuned materials, and there are a fair few records of Demon Blood, but I've never really compiled thi- Wait, no, there. Alright, so I have only two records of Mithril. Apparently the Dwarven city of Thanos (no relation to Thanos) forges mantels of it, and there are rumours of some poorly-forged leggings made of it in the Deserts.
Still, I just gave you stuff for my action so it shoudn’t be weak.

further clarifications on balance: Giving someone stuff is just as hard as making that stuff, then giving it to them; making stuff, or doing stuff, is difficult roughly in proportion to its value. Anything you describe in your post, if you want it to happen, and it wouldn't otherwise, is part of your action. for some examples: If the auto-cranker were worth 1 action on all directly cranking-related tasks, that would require somewhere around 15 actions to make, and it would probably die shortly. A material finder can be made but, again, the value of its actions is proportional to the actions spent using it, because the stronger its actions are the more valuable it is. Furthermore, there is a default way things work, which doesn't align with whatever ideas you've come up with, because it already exists, and you haven't spent actions (or nearly enough, even if we counted your last post) on changing how things work for your items, or making items that work differently. to make something useful takes time. I hope this is clear enough?

The shopkeep frowns. "If the only records are of mantels and leggings then it isn't the right mithril. Are there any celestially attuned metals without links to any specific beings or deities? If it has a specific bent it won't do me any good, though that demon blood might be useful if I can alloy it in properly"
Then the mask of hesitation thing happens and he growls, then sighs. He walks around to the front of the stall and glares up at the mask of hesitation. "Alright, look here buddy you didn't pay for that. Given that I'm in the middle of something and don't feel like wasting my time in a fight over a cheap artifact, I'll offer you a deal." He gestures to the scythe caught in the stall, and suddenly a circle of large blades appear around the edges of the window. They look uncomfortably sharp. "You have 3 options here. A: You hand me back the starflesh staff and I'll deduct the remaining 2 credits from your account, then help you get unstuck. B: You buckle up a sec and I teleport you back to the main battlefield, this will also deduct the remaining 2 credits from your account but you get to keep the starflesh staff and head back to help out your new boss before he starts getting punched in the face by assorted angry Players again. C: You try and take the scythe without making one of the other deals I've offered you and learn firsthand why it's not smart to mess with someone who has a track record of killing things abruptly, and has 65 charge worth of entity backup to boot. Oh yes, and get your credit annulled anyways. Technically there's option D: you just leave the scythe with me and keep your credits, but I'm sorta suspecting you don't have any further use for those credits after this anyway."
The Shopkeep turns to Cuphead. "Sorry to keep you waiting kid, anyway a deal's a deal. Here's that contract of yours, nice and tidy." He procures the contract from his pocket and hands it back to Cuphead. Cuphead is now a free man, er, cup boy thing. "I'm not gonna waste my time trying to take my charge power back from ya, so enjoy being permanently supercharged to ludicrous extremes I guess." The Shopkeep gestures with his off hand, and a portal back to Inkwell Isle appears. He stops and thinks. "Hey, before you go I might be able to offer you a hopefully less soul-imperiling deal than the one that landed you here in the first place. If you stick around another round or two to maybe help me with something violence-oriented, I'll transfer ownership of the Devils casino to you, since I repossessed that from him after our little brawl but don't really have a use for it. I figure since you gambled your soul on that figure you won't mind shooting up someone for a few minutes. You'll get ownership whether or not I wind up needing your help if you stick around for the whole time, I just need you to stick around for a little bit and be ready to leverage a little muscle if needed. Portal'll stay open so you can bail if you need to though, though bailing early will forfeit the casino."
Action wise, the shopkeep's stall has lodged a blade between the Eishalon's scythe and its freedom, this allows me to set up a conditional: If the Eishalon disconnects its scythe and just goes about its business, nothing happens. If the Eishalon hands the Shopkeep back the Starflesh Staff, the Shopkeep undoes the blades and flips open the stall's sunroof, allowing the Eishalon to pull its scythe free no problem. If the Eishalon agrees to be teleported, he slap a teleporter on it and teleports it back to the battlefield. If the Eishalon tries to rip its scythe free, it opens itself up to a combo attack for my first post next round.
The Terror Pants are telepathically ordered to train the big gun on the Eishalon, but not to open fire until given the order. The Flying Spaghetti Monster is told to be on guard in case the giant rainbow monster decides to try something cheeky.

(OOC: Also, no worries! I've been pretty busy with a lot anyways, so I probably wouldn't have gotten it for a bit.)
Essentially, there isn't much going on in the Battlefield (where the godmodder is). In a separate place called the update room, there's a battle between Phil Swift and Aisenberg. There's also a shop inside there which Piono runs, and he's currently running it and trying to charge a machine which will (hopefully) help defeat the godmodder, while also dealing with some type of floating mask monster. Sadworm is trying to aid Piono with that. Elsewhere in the world, hungry_visitor is trying to craft something (I don't know what). And I'm in a separate "side quest" location, which you probably don't have to worry about, but is essentially a stone spire in the middle of an ocean.
TL:DR essentially everyone's just gathering strength and avoiding the godmodder for the time being.
Despite its name I do not hesitate and put on: ,which is a pretty fancy decorative article. Thank you for spawning this, Spirit Savant. I was looking for something similar to this for my alternate universe Sans costume. To make sure it does not escape I seal its fate as my mask with FLEX TAPE. Now it won't be able to escape ever... yeah I am really cruel I know.
I awaken my new mask and then cut down more trees for a second potion of unhealthyness (Katana method).

You seem to be a little confused about my alignment, naturewriter. I'm a neutral in this conflict, if the godmodder leaves me alone, I leave him alone. The new Eishalon form is only in danger of getting face-stomped because it's trying to steal from my shop. I have no qualms about cutting deals with third parties and even the Godmodder provided he's not a jerk about it. I'm here to supply giant monsters to the highest bidder and basically nothing more.
The Shopkeep idly tosses another charge into Monolithium, and contemplates. When Nature (hopefully) returns with the alloying station, we'll need multiple materials to do that alloying with: 1. Celestial metal of some kind (silver should no good alternatives be found) 2. Demon Blood or similar unholy magic (Shopkeep has some shadewood that can be burnt for shadowash as a lesser alternative if needed) 3. Normal conductive metal (currently planned to be gold, but perhaps a better alternative will present itself) 4. Stabilizer metal (If we use silver and demon blood, the celestial metal and shadowash, or silver and shadowash, this won't be needed. But a grounder for the conflicting energies between the celestial metal and demon blood will be needed if both are obtained and used. Iron will work decently for a single use, but if the contraption winds up being needed repeatedly the metal's own composition will wear it down after about the third use so something stronger would be a better choice.)

ohhhhh okay.
And it's okay man, I just gave you info cuz I figured you could use it. Tossing me charges is more than enough for my needs.

I construct a pelican out of various rocks and dirt clumps
an idea occurs to you: Perhaps there are better materials you could use for the gears?
shpokeep energy added to machine.
Your phone starts ringing. it sounds like the godmodder is calling you. do you even have a phone? you're not sure. it also seems like, wherever this phone is from, its the sort that plays out a message as it's being recorded, even without being picked up. the Godmodder has said:
You wanna bet on that? my guess is 'you'll be wrong'... and before you accuse me of cheating, the answers too inconvenient to bother changing.
it's getting dark, but they've collected a fair bit of quicksalt.
You ate now more skilled at 'woodcutting'- specifically, the katana branch of woodcutting. woodworking is when you make things with wood, however.
The refining factory station can give you refined wood paper or refined wood planks. woodworking is easiest to practice with planks.
+1 charge to... piono, i take it?
in the future, use the 'edit post' button to add additional actions to a post. since breaking a rule should have consequence, only the first half of your double-post will be counted.
You cast Meteor storm! The maniac quickly points out that spell doesn't exist. out of shame from its malformed name (for while there is nothing inherently wrong with the name, the storms parents were very drunk when they named it, and that's why it has the wrong one), the Storm runs off, crying. it cuts a long scar into the surrounding countryside (except the trees, which it bounces off), but does not hit the Maniac.
you throw a sword. it whiffs past one of the entities, who yells at you in indignation while you sit down with your ham rolls of +2 hp. tasty.
you are now Blurry in outline. Phil swift can't see you to begin with due to lack of martian ancestry, but it's the thought that counts sometimes.
The Godmodder explains that even if he let you attack, which he won't, his immune system would likely stop your sword before the 3 damage mark, and he has hundreds of health.
+1 charge to pionoplayer, presumably.
while there is no post between these, it's due to Sirnaturewriter having been in a sidequest, so this seemingly-double-post is acceptable.
You +1 charge pionoplayer for sure this time.
Divine Power: 125
strange... the files refer to this variable as 'black magic'.
so... you hold a giant square on a stick...
Stories will be told of your valiant efforts for generations, to children as a role model, to adults as history, and everything in between. you will doubtless be remembered for thousands of years, or perhaps even... forever?
you have created the rare, the legendary, the indescribable except for not actually that...

I awaken Srovy by the way.

Interestingly, the celestial glow of the water seems weaker from up close.
Also, boats.
(OOC: apologies for only sidequest-dopping once: I was busy with an animation for another game.)
(heh at the quicksalt use)
? It did raise the odds a fair bit...
you successfully make things with wood, specifically a potion of unhealthiness. this gains you several levels, but you aren't quite good enough at Woodworking to make the staff, Yet. Maybe if you could get more
Srovy is awakened!
You pull out a sheet! (I'd respond here but you ask in the later post)
Hm... the Auto-cranker there seems a bit... yeah, no. you successfully give pionoplayer a box!
Apparently the Dwarven city of Thanos (no relation to Thanos) forges mantels of it, and there are rumours of some poorly-forged leggings made of it in the Deserts.
further clarifications on balance: Giving someone stuff is just as hard as making that stuff, then giving it to them; making stuff, or doing stuff, is difficult roughly in proportion to its value. Anything you describe in your post, if you want it to happen, and it wouldn't otherwise, is part of your action. for some examples:
If the auto-cranker were worth 1 action on all directly cranking-related tasks, that would require somewhere around 15 actions to make, and it would probably die shortly.

The Spirit Savants bones crack, then their arms twitch, before the space they stand within distorts, sucking them into the mask. It floats there, in the air. peaceful, almost.
the Starflesh Staff clatters to the ground, and at that exact moment a wave of flesh pours out of the Mask, glowing like the night sky seen clearest that can be. The resulting shape is almost malformed, one of the feet bursting on impact with the ground, But it seems there's still a fight to come.
The Shopkeeper notices the Mask has got its Eishaic Scythe stuck in his stall, just sort of awkwardly trying to pull it through the window. Probably because it's trying to take the thing, which it appears to have fused with its arm.
(The Godmodder, off on the battlefield, puts another point in his charge, but seems to be paying attention to elsewhere.)

Luckily, I never delete any of my art files. While I was at it, however, I noticed my past standards for background quality and general image cleanness were lower. I haven't made any notable changes to the Mask itself-cleaned up some of the lines, but it's the same design- but the original version of this image had a greenish-grey hill for a floor and a flat grey background.]

Given that I'm in the middle of something and don't feel like wasting my time in a fight over a cheap artifact, I'll offer you a deal."
He gestures to the scythe caught in the stall, and suddenly a circle of large blades appear around the edges of the window.
Action wise, the shopkeep's stall has lodged a blade between the Eishalon's scythe and its freedom, this allows me to set up a conditional:
If the Eishalon disconnects its scythe and just goes about its business, nothing happens.

Hmm, I don't really want to try my chances with these fish-men yet without knowing what my stick does. I guess I'll try to shoot some sort of flare up into the air for now, and wait a second to see what the effects are.

Send help pleaseEssentially, there isn't much going on in the Battlefield (where the godmodder is).
(OOC: Okay, thanks)

Send help pleaseDespite its name I do not hesitate and put on:
,which is a pretty fancy decorative article.
When Nature (hopefully) returns with the alloying station, we'll need multiple materials to do that alloying with:
1. Celestial metal of some kind (silver should no good alternatives be found)
2. Demon Blood or similar unholy magic (Shopkeep has some shadewood that can be burnt for shadowash as a lesser alternative if needed)
3. Normal conductive metal (currently planned to be gold, but perhaps a better alternative will present itself)
