Your journey was uneventful, but the island now visible off the bow promises rare wonders. Seaweed shimmers in countless brilliant colors below you, and rays of sunlight defy the overcast sky to illuminate the lush grass and dark basalt rock of the island. Avoiding the rocks jutting up from the ocean, your ship makes its way toward a calm harbor on the island’s north side.
A large, open-air temple comes into view, perched on the edge of a cliff high above you. The ship drops anchor at the mouth of the harbor, and two sailors row you ashore. You have plenty of time to admire the towering statue at the center of the temple, depicting a wizened man surrounded by seven songbirds. A long path winds up the side of the cliff to the temple, dotted along the way with doorways cut into the rock.
The sailors set you ashore on a rickety dock, where a large rowboat is neatly tied. They point to the base of the path and wish you good luck before they row back to the ship. Your visit to Dragon’s Rest begins!
Hey there guys, thanks for checking out my ad.
Dragons of Stormwreck Isle is a short campaign comprised of three or four areas.
Rules:
Please be kind, don't start fights.
I'm okay with a little bit of power-gaming, but if your player can single-handedly take down CR 3 or larger at level one, probably not.
Premade characters upon request.
This game will be about 50-50 rp/combat, but please don't hold back, I'm open to changing if the party wants and emphasis on one or the other.
Level one characters.
House rules:
No initiative. The player and monster with the highest DEX will roll DEX check, if the player higher, players go first, if moster higher, mosters go first. That's it.
What sources are allowed for making characters? How should we generate stats (roll, point by, or standard array)? And most important, how do we submit characters?
I've been playing PBP games for decades. Good call on the change for initiative. That does help games go smoother.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
INTERESTED__ Sounds fun__ PC idea__.
Race. Dragonborn-topaz. Class. Fighter-superior technique-distracting strike. Background. Urchin-city guide. NameZinzenzax. Backstory Zinzenzax tried to hide from the world, but every so often he would help guide homeless or other demihumans around town. He was rewarded on one occasion with a referral as a guide for an expedition to Dragon’s Rest. Upon accepting the assignment Zinzenzax found some unattended gear which he took as his own. He got on the boat and didn’t look back…
Stats (standard array) Equipment (Standard plus a random trinket) all open to DM discretion. Available upon request.
Flashback- ZinZenZax when he was as young as he can remember, was raised in similar fashion as an animal raised to fight. That changed the day he developed his devastating breath weapon. The rough dungeon delving dwarf who mistreated and horribly forced Zin to do things his mind has blocked out, was so desiccated his remains were unrecognizable. Zinzen remembers all too well! He is not a hero per se but he has zero tolerance of abuse.
Seeing the previous replies, I hereby offer a red Dragonborn Bard. All details subject to discussion, the main idea being to assemble a dragon squad. Let’s do this!
As a variation of the Dragonborn theme, how about a kobold life cleric? Sort of a small weak dragonborn... But still a hero. Bacckground would be Celebrity Adventurer’s Scion, so a second generation hero... Heading for Stormwreck Isle to get away from the fame of their mother's hero group.
I would like to join your PBP campaign. I love the 50/50.
I'm thinking I'd like to go with a Lizard Rouge (which is something I've been wanting to explore out). Background Pirate ('cause, why not. 'Pirate!' ;-) )
My character idea is a Changeling Bard, background is probably Entertainer, and I think the 50/50 thing is great. RP is my favorite part of D&D.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Haiiiiii, I’m Druid! (he/they/it/moth/fae/star) I'm a smol insane queer lil' mess with a terrible mental state! I'm also a therian and furry :3 My current obsessions are The Amazing Digital Circus and Hazbin Hotel, so if you ever wanna chat about that, I'm always happy to! GIVE ME YOUR MONSTER.
"Oh no! Looks like I've taken Ragatha... AND DROPPED HER IN THE DEEP FRYER!" -Jax
It depends on things like character creation and stuff, but probably not later than next week. I'd be more than happy to let you join later though, wouldn't be a problem.
Thanks for the info, and the offer! I think I'll pass though. It looks like there's a lot of great options here that will be able to start with you from session zero. No sense in trying to steal a spot from one of them.

So i had a Bugbear in mind who found a spellbook or magical gizmo on one of the bodies he looted after a raid. He started to learn some of the magic contained and was banished from his clan as this magic was too different from the magic that the shamans are granted by Maglubiyet.
Could be a Wizard, Sorcerer or Warlock
Stats: 121817151212
Nope those are actually too good, lets try it again: 15914121716
In other situations i would love those, but for a lvl-1 char its just not fitting: 131116141417
I like the idea some people had of an all dragonborn party so here's my character idea:
Name: Borvnir Chelvnich Race: Black Dragonborn Class: Barbarian Background: Soldier Alignment: Neutral Evil Backstory: Borvnir grew up in the slums and squalor of a large city and had to fight for everything in his life, though as he grew larger and stronger than the other kids in the slums, he grew a nasty habit of bullying people out of food and cash, quickly becoming a menace and formidable threat to the other commoners. However the local authorities apprehended him in his teenage years and he was enlisted into the local army to be trained as a soldier due to his fighting skills, and to provide a place to channel his violence in a way that would prove useful. He quickly rose up the ranks and as he aged he grew bigger, stronger and nastier even further, until the army had to let him go on accounts that the actions he had demonstrated to not only the enemy but other comrades was too brutal for the common battlefield, and instead guided him towards becoming an adventurer to deal with more advanced threats. And so he followed through with their suggestion, becoming a mighty barbarian that strikes fear into all his opponents.
[Hopefully playing an evil character is alright, I'll play him so that he isn't a problem to other players or their characters (he'll mainly keep to himself) but if his alignment/personality and attitude isn't suitable for this campaign I'm happy to adjust it :) ]
Stats are 17, 12, 14, 8, 13 and 11 btw (Standard Array with Dragonborn ability score improvements applied, in the order of how they appear on a character sheet)

Right now, just input your character ideas. Everything else will be based on the characters I choose, thanks.

I'm interested, but I'm not going to be able to start a new game for about two more weeks. Do you have an anticipated start date in mind?

Maybe things will line up better next time!
I have a couple, depending on what you need:
Hanzo: Human Fighter (Samauri); The Dred Pirate Roberts Human Rogue (Swashbuckler); Rothgar Human Barbarian; and Sir Sparhawk, a Human Paladin
So i had a Bugbear in mind who found a spellbook or magical gizmo on one of the bodies he looted after a raid. He started to learn some of the magic contained and was banished from his clan as this magic was too different from the magic that the shamans are granted by Maglubiyet.

Olloray Dim - Limbo's Pit
Gunther Korroden - Nightmares in the Mist
Take the first roll. No rerolling, I'll deal with the fact your lowest score is a 12 (+1)
