Once per turn, when you hit a creature with an attack that deals bludgeoning damage, you can move it 5 feet to an unoccupied space, provided the target is no more than one size larger than you.
When I read this in comparison to the Shield Master feat:
If you take the Attack action on your turn, you can use a bonus action to try to shove a creature within 5 feet of you with your shield.
My primary takeaway from this is that for Shielf Master the movement is contested i.e. Shove, but Crusher allows you to simply move the opponent to an unoccupied space without any need for rolls - am I interpreting that correctly?
Yes, because crusher requires a successful attack roll instead of a contested check. In addition, the Shove action is way more powerful in some ways since you can also use it to knock someone prone.
The other, other advantage to Crusher is that it does not require your Bonus Action.
The other, other, other advantage to Crusher is that it works on any attack against an opponent while Shield Master requires you to be in melee. Crusher even works for thrown Light Hammers, Slings, and spell attacks like from Magic Stone and Bigby’s Hand / Arcane Hand.
I'm looking at Crusher, if I'm in melee with a creature, deal bludgeoning damage, move it 5 ft to an unoccupied space, do I get an opportunity attack against moved creature?

No. Forced movement does not allow for opportunity attacks.
Something to consider is that, RAW, Crusher can only move 5 ft., while Shieldmaster can make a shove attack, which has the option of 5ft. of forced movement OR knocking the target prone.
How do any DMs out there feel about allowing Crusher to knock prone like a shove attack?

That would be massively over-powered. Knocking an enemy prone with an attack that's already dealing damage with no chance to avoid it? Absolutely not :p

I wouldn’t allow it. Crusher is a good feat, +1 to STR or CON, the push, and advantage on all attacks against the target (you and your allies) until the start of you next turn on a crit. Adding prone to that makes it really powerful and steps on Shield Masters toes a bit. So I would stay RAW on it.

How do we feel about the Crusher Feat moving enemies up into the air? Seems like it could be a nice way for an Open Hand Monk to add 1 or 2d6 damage to a target and knocking them prone.

See other, very long, thread about whether Crusher can move someone up into the air.

No reason to start that long argument again :)
Apologies, but I can't seem to find this thread, even using the search function. Mind linking it to me?

Edit after much time: Oh my ... that certainly was a thread. I find myself wanting to post in it about some of the ridiculous claims made there, but also maybe not wanting to necro such a contentious thread?

You got it. And Sposta has a good explanation.
Thanks - debating feat choice, hadn't considered it needed to be a successful attack to work for Crusher.
The other benefit of a successful attack versus a shove is that you also do the damage of a successful attack.

As it is written, the crusher feat does not do this. I can see why players would be very interested in the prospect of it doing so though :)
