The eldritch cannon protector healing in a fight seems pretty good, but can it be used out of battle?
As a DM I'm concerned my player will want to stop the party after every battle to huddle up around this thing til they top off their health... this seems... problematic.
Ex. Willie The Tank has 50 total HP. He has been hit with some attacks and currently has 20 hit points. He gets affected by the Protector Cannon, gaining 6 temporary hit points.
His current hit points is still 20. His maximum hit points is still 50. In addition, he has an extra buffer of 6 temporary hit points.
Before he is hit with more damage, the cannon triggers again, granting 8 temporary hit points.
Temporary hit points do not stack, and if you receive two effects that both grant temporary hit points, you take the larger number, so Willie now has 8 temporary hit points.
He gets hit with an attack that deals 15 damage. Temporary hit points take the damage first, so the 8 temp hp he had is gone. The remaining 7 goes to his regular hit points, reducing his current hit points to 13.

Has anyone dealt with this yet?
The cannon produces temporary hp which do not stack.
Temporary hit points are not the same as healing.
