since the original creator of the character throwdowns is unavailable, DorkForge, I was curious if people have any interesting suggestions for the next one?
We have had the terminator and the gish throwdowns already done. I am wondering what other cool concepts we could explore.
The hard part for me is thinking of something with enough depth that multiple builds would be viable. Probably the one I think could be interesting would be the summoner/minion master/menagerie concept.

"I have found the answer to the meaning of life. You ask me what the answer is? You already know what the answer to life is. You fear it more than the strike of a viper, the ravages of disease, the ire of a lover. The answer is always death. But death is a gentle mistress with a sweet embrace, and you owe her a debt of restitution. Life is not a gift, it is a loan."
You aren't the creator, I thought DorkForge was?!?!?!!!! Either way, a minion master could be both cool and boring. That necromancer and hexblade or undying is just the same. But then again, I came up with a cool Shepard druid 14/conjurer wizard 6. It is very powerful. But I honestly think a master of nature would be cool, as would a divine being build (good or bad). There is so much DorkForge could do, it sounds amazing.

Dorkforge mentioned that the Throwdowns originated on another forum, so maybe HeroZero ran it there and Dorkforge just took the lead on here?
Anyway, I'd be curious to see something like a "Batman Build", by which I mean a max-utility build without using magic. Batman Build is probably a bad name, since it kind of implies creating Batman specifically, but I think it would be interesting to see how much utility roles can be fulfilled by a character who isn't using magic to accomplish things.

sorry i missed a few words that were supposed to be there about him not being available.

Nope just me being dumb and not proofreading what I wrote.

Master of the OHKO
Professional Wrestler
lol I'm kind of playing a Professional Wrestler in my current campaign. It's not a perfect build, since I'm focused on general viability instead of going all-in on the theme, but it's definitely a build I've been working on for a while.
Defensive Support: characters focused on keeping the entire party up and alive. Doesn't have to be a 'tank', optimal builds might be casters or hybrids (significant risk that the answer will turn out to be "Moon Druid", but it's at least worth investigating)
Offensive Support: character focused on making the rest of the party more dangerous (likely to be a bard or maybe a battlemaster, but again...)
Just wanted something to pass the time and think about other interesting archetypes. No current plans to start up another unless it goes a long time with no word from DF. Then, maybe.

I stumbled onto a city watch theme when I was thinking about a monk mage slayer that splashed rogue 3. Originally, I was thinking about Kensei 17/Swashbuckler 3 for someone with high mobility and range who could pepper a mage on the way in and then use fancy footwork to get out. While doing some research, I noticed that an inquisitive is the ultimate city watch themed rogue and then thought about Shadow Monk to complement for an undercover watchman.
Once I got to that point, I started thinking about what other classes would fit well into that theme for an entire party. Order Cleric along with devotion or crown Paladin came to mind. This could put a whole new spin on an urban adventure like Dragon Heist.
City Defenders... actually has a lot of depth to it.

Certainly does. They don't have to be limited to urban campaigns either. Trying to figure out why this "city defender" party is out in the sticks could make for an interesting ad lib campaign from that aspect. Could be looking for a particularly dangerous criminal. Could be AWOL. Are they good, are they bad? Are they all complicit or is it just the leader? Could put a different spin on the campaign just like adding Acquisitions, Inc. rules could.
I might go with 'defenders of the realm' or something instead, on the theory that high level characters probably have an area of responsibility larger than one city. I assume the concept is that your role is "find and foil Evil Plots and Rampaging Monsters", so it places a priority on preventing damage and injury to civilians, as well as investigative and fighting tasks.

That's certainly one way to approach the idea. Starting small and progressing to that level could be another. Plenty of ways to explore the concept.
I think “city watch” is better, since there’s so many different roles and responsibilities that could fit that (urban investigator? Subdual expert? Commander? Forensic detective?)

I really want an ultimate healer build. But that is probably just me...

Utility master? That sounds cool, and could have lots of builds (artificer, ranger, rogue, bard even warlock). I vote for this as my winning concept!
