I know this may sound childish, but I'm in a feud with a local DM. Missed a few games due to health (who wants a player puking at the table) and was told if I don't show, I'll be banned. So it's a level 5 one shot and I want to build the most annoying character. Any recommendations? My original plan was a tabaxi rogue assassin who chaotic evil and go murder hobo on any humanoid NPC (human hunters killed my family to make the coats for their wives)
Just leave. Life's too short to deal with an ******* like that. If someone won't give someone else a pass for the extremely legitimate reason of being sick, then they aren't worth wasting your breathe on.
I also say leave. But if you stay, don’t make an annoying character. It’s passive aggressive, and it will also annoy the other players, who presumably are innocent in all this.
Just don't. You are wasting everybody's time. will end up annoying all the players, as well as the GM. It will likely just get you a permanent ban from all their games. Though with the maturity level you are showing that's probably a good thing.
Yea, unless this is the only game in town, just leave.
Even if it IS the only game in town, either resolve your issues with the DM out of game, or leave. Driving him crazy in-game isn't going to solve anything, and is likely going to antagonize the other players too. If he knows your absences were health related and he still wants to kick you, it's not worth staying.
I think a lot of folks are probably overreacting here, if you're just looking to give them a friendly hard time, a halfling Divination Wizard with Lucky etc. is going to give you the most opportunities to raise your hand and say "well ACTUALLY, that isn't what happens...." while sticking your tongue out at them :)

As long as it stays friendly.
In other words, don’t be intentionally antagonistic. But that doesn’t mean you cannot build a perfectly legitimate PC that just happens to make their eye twitch a little.

They literally said they were going to make a chaotic evil murder-hobo...
... Which may fit with his groups sense of humor and play style. Different tables have different energy, I just feel like the “you should stop playing D&D” answers are rarely helpful.
If humourous attempt to "get back" at them: Halfling Grave Cleric/Divination Wizard multiclass with the Lucky and Bountiful Luck feats. You deny the DM crits, 1s, and random other dice rolls.

Hombrew: Way of Wresting, Circle of Sacrifice
Yeah, just don't show. Or the next time an angry post shows up on this forum, it will be about a murderhobo tabaxi.

I must say I agree that leaving is probably the better answer. Discretion is the better part of valor after all.
However, if you did want to do it I would personally recommend a C/N Halfling Wild Magic Sorcerer with the Lucky feat.

A seduction based Bard/Rogue/Archfey Warlock could be pretty bad too. Get expertise in persuasion form rogue, and charm spells from archfey and bard.

Threatening to ban a player for not coming in while sick during an international pandemic? Classy.
I agree with the others, though. Either take the high road or don't go.
Had someone do that, managed to get the Entire store for free

I'm going to make this way harder than it needs to be.

From what the OP describes the DM sounds like a jerk. People should play to have fun, not to spite another person, or ruin the game for others.
It's just not worth it.

I am one with the Force. The Force is with me.
If serious problem: leave the group.

It's a one shot and he was rude, you've already spent more time than you should have reflecting on this.
