Posted Jun 30, 2021I wonder what playing an awakened blink dog would be like?

Posted Jul 6, 2021The language "blink dog" is all the vocalizations a dog could make organized into a language. It's like how wookies from star wars can't speak anything but wookie.

Posted Jul 6, 2021I just realized that as long as your dm is cool, it has the highest cr allowed to make it a beast companion for beast master ranger.

Posted Jul 6, 2021You don't even have to awaken it. It's got 10 intelligence already.

Posted Aug 24, 2021Imagine if a Halfing Cavalier got a hold of one with this ability, that would be nuts for the DM. However I don't think that's possible outside of Homebrewing

Posted Oct 10, 2021Dogs do understand the meaning of words. Do look at the long study that is currently testing the limits of their intelligence using buttons. Some of the dogs in the study are stringing 8 words together to form sentences (without articles like 'the' etc). These dogs also discuss abstract concepts such as time, e.g. "can I see my friend tomorrow".
Much like humans do, yes dogs learn the sound association to an object/action etc. Or did you assume humans are born fully comprehending any and all languages ;)

Posted Oct 24, 2021I'm pretty sure it is already awakened. Blink dogs has an intelligence of 10, meaning that it is as smart as an average humanoid. Meaning if one could talk blink dog, they would have a decent conversation.

Posted Oct 24, 2021I think it is correct to assume they understands the words they say since they have an intelligence score of 10 (higher than most barbarians I know).

Posted Jan 7, 2022Except blink dogs are fey, not beasts. And are smart, speak a language, and teleport. If your GM is fine with all that, then a little thing like CR isn't likely to be a issue either.

Posted Jan 8, 2022Easy fix, homebrew a Blink Dog Alpha with slightly better stats & gives Blink Dogs that can see or hear it Pack Tactics.

Posted Feb 23, 2022So a Ghostwise Halfling who speaks Sylvan could communicate with a Blinkdog, since Silent Speech doesn't rely on verbal speech. That would be pretty cool.
