Posted Jun 26, 2023It means that 10 is the average damage 2d6+3 will deal I don't know if it is necessarily the average but anyway, the intention behind it is that DMs can deal that much damage when the Dire Wolf attacks instead of having to roll damage for every attack.

Posted Jul 12, 2023A dire wolf (Irl at least) is essentially just a giant, very fluffy wolf, as a timber wolf has a shoulder height of about 2.5 ft, the dire wolf has one of about 3.5 ft, dire wolves (Irl) are about 2ft longer than timber wolves as well. as a dire wolf is an actual extinct animal, I can't imagine that D&D would have changed its appearance. so yea, just big fluffy wolf =)

Posted Sep 6, 2023I have a Shadow Magic Sorcerer. I just realized that the Hound of Ill Omen could theoretically knock ANY creature of ANY size prone. Including Gargantuan dragons under RAW.

Posted Sep 25, 2023You may want to revisit the abilities section of the PHB... Survival is a wisdom based skill. Knowing which animals might hurt you is a survival skill.
