Spider Climb. The spider can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.
Web Sense. While in contact with a web, the spider knows the exact location of any other creature in contact with the same web.
Web Walker. The spider ignores movement restrictions caused by webbing.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) piercing damage, and the target must make a DC 11 Constitution saving throw, taking 9 (2d8) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. If the poison damage reduces the target to 0 hit points, the target is stable but poisoned for 1 hour, even after regaining hit points, and is paralyzed while poisoned in this way.
Web (Recharge 5–6). Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 30/60 ft., one creature. Hit: The target is restrained by webbing. As an action, the restrained target can make a DC 12 Strength check, bursting the webbing on a success. The webbing can also be attacked and destroyed (AC 10; hp 5; vulnerability to fire damage; immunity to bludgeoning, poison, and psychic damage).
Description
To snare its prey, a giant spider spins elaborate webs or shoots sticky strands of webbing from its abdomen. Giant spiders are most commonly found underground, making their lairs on ceilings or in dark, web-filled crevices. Such lairs are often festooned with web cocoons holding past victims.
Love these things, making a Spider Goddess for a warlock in my game, and oh boy is he going to love these.
Best.monster.EVER!!!!
cool, what book is the staff of swarming insects in
"If the poison damage reduces the target to 0 hit points, the target is stable but poisoned for 1 hour."
Yes, the creature would be automatically stabilized.
If he is a druid he can use his wild shape to temporarily turn into a giant spider. Also can turn into other animals and beasts. It's pretty awesome in battle
"If the poison damage reduces the target to 0 hit points"
The target creature was already at 0 hp, so it can't be reduced to 0 (by poision), therefore it is not stabalized by the poision.
Also since the poision itself is an save against poision and not an melee attack I would say it would only result in one failed death save, however not ceartaint about that one.
Doggy
I fought these once, they were eating magic tortoises that were the cherished symbol belonging to a dwarf clan that one of my party members is part of. the spiders were named Reve and Stecardo
It says you can use you’re action to roll a str check to get out. Then it says you can also attack it to destroy it. So my question is does the attack count as a full action or just one attack if you have several?
Does anyone think I could put a giant spider cave in the abyssal plane? Are there any better giant abyssal spider alternatives?
In out of the abyss there is a monster that is a spider with a modified stat block called a fiendish giant spider. If you have that I suggest you use it. Otherwise, I suggest you add some demonic elements to this creature, such as perhaps necrotic/fire resistances and necrotic based attacks.
didn't expect australians spider to make into the game, wow.
How tall are they?
Are Giant Spiders immune to their own poision?
it just means he can see without light for 10 feet.
It would be a good wildshape for a moon druid
Currently taming a giant spider to be my bestie and it is so amazing
