Posted Jun 27, 2021Just a weapon. It's a macehead on a longer wooden haft. But I think with all these creatures don't limit yourself to the stated weapon. No reason why they wouldn't have clubs or big axes instead. Treat the weapon type as a suggested norm.

Posted Jul 7, 2021These guys are great for manning a battering ram in an undead siege. I created a challenge for my players during the siege where they had to take out several ogre zombies within a certain number of rounds or the city gates would fall. Each zombie destroyed would slow the pace of the battering ram, buying more time, until the last survivor gave up on the ram and attacked the party.

Posted Aug 21, 2022I'm thinking about having my party fight this, and a dybbuk ready to take it over the ogre if they do not try to dispose the body in a way. They mostly just loote and walk away. But the ideal of it getting back up while they are in a different room absolute fun.

Posted Apr 24, 2023Thinking of throwing together an undead encounter with a necromancer to teach player trying his hand at necromancy.
other than the common skeleton, zombie, ghoul choice, im also planning on infesting 1 or 2 zombies (maybe this guy) with Rot Grubs. Those things are no joke, so just to be sure they have a fighting chance, I'm going to have the party receive a Periapt of Health at the start (non-attunement, makes the wearer immune to diseases and suppresses them if they already have them)
Since Rot Grubs are treated as a magical disease, this will fully protect 1 player from them, and as an added bonus, because the benefit does not require attunement, it means they can pass the necklace around in case someone other than they expect gets infested.
Also gonna have a lvl 4 Cleric NPC on hand for emergency Turning/Heals/Lesser Restoration. (If it gets bad, i can have the NPC cast it on the zombie and prevent the exposure)
- offensive healing. One of the more hilarious uses of lesser restoration.
back to the necromancer training. Slight homebrew on the casting time of Animate Dead to 1 action so that we can have a control battle between the two casters. Throwing Ghouls and This Ogre Zombie into the crypt teaches him which type of undead can be controlled with Animate Dead, and which cannot.
also teaches the usefulness of Protection from Evil and Magic Circle against Evil.
toying with the idea of the Necromancer casting Negative Energy Flood on 1 ghoul and having it transform into a Ghast.

Posted May 24, 2023it is not a type. if a creature has a negative stat but it has profency with a saving throw it will have +0. same wiht weapon attacks, if its a negative number then its just +0. if you look at a rat stat block you will see this.
