NEIGH FEEL THE WRATH OF MY HOOVES
Anyone have good success with one of these babies?
Why is the picture a silhouette of a cat?
Bout to use mine for the first time tonight. But, it's got the best stats and abilities of any Find Steed mount, so, I imagine it'll work well.
As far as I know, it's because the cat silhouette is just the generic image used in the Monsters section if there is not an image assigned to a particular entry. Like how in the Weapons section most of the entries have the sword silhouette, even if it is an axe or a spear or whatever.
How did it go? Any advice or tips and tricks for someone considering playing a Paladin with Find Steed sometime in the near future?
I can't remember how that night went, but having a mount is situational. Many advantures, I reach a point whenre my Warhorse can not continue, and I unsummon him. However, for those times you can use em? I've used it to just dash while I slica and dice an entire charging line. I've telepathically had it charge an enemy caster when I was dismounted, breaking the caster's concentration. situational, but extremely awesome when you can use em.
Our druid used this as a wild shape to chase down a fleeing goblin in a recent session. ridiculously overpowered attack reduced the goblin to mush... (druid is 2nd level moon circle)
I named mine "Nutmeg"! A sturdy friend to fight evil with my paladin.
I have yes. Playing a Cavalier feels gratifying because gaining advantage on melee attacks against prone creatures is effective with a Warhorse.
If I may add something. When you dismount and dismiss them. Normally the boss lair or big bad is big enough for you to summon him back. Then you can ride him again. Lol just a little thing I realized something down the road.
No, it is the beast section default.
But the warhorse can’t attack nor use its ability while mounted.... Controlled mounts can only dash, dodge or disengage.

Paladin/Cavalier protection fighting style. I would move in so i would get trample. If I got the guy prone. I would have the horse get it's bonus action. Then my Dude would strike. When all my action points are used up, I would move away as far as I can and then essentially repeat the charge cycle. Eventually it caused the DM to start adding rules that in my personal opinion made it more fun, which was tactics. Like he would mass goblins lets say in a dense pack and all hold spears. I would have to use my horses dex to avoid the spear tips or stop suddenly. My dude would have to roll to see if he gets tipped off blah blah. As it stands. we went from level 5 and so far we are now at level 9. Numerous victories, only had to revive my horse a hand full of times. So personally I enjoy it alot. Espetially when the rest of the crew saw this and so far we have 1 tank, 1 archer and 1 warlock who ride around the battle field. One slamming into them, one riding around them sticking sharp shafts in em and well...warlock doing warlocky things.
This is true, ultimately it depends on your DM if he will allow you and your horses actions to be taken together or not so on and so on. Our Dm allows it saying it makes sense for the horse to be able to fight at the same time, given it's alive and simply won't stand there taking hits. But some other dm's wont allow it stating that makes it over powered. Which i can see their point completely.
It's the default icon for beasts that don't have any official art
So if you were ever wondering how to play as mounted cavalry this is what I did.
Pick human, mark of handling for extra cool mounts
Pick fighter for first 4 levels and choose the Mount Master feat
Then multiclass as paladin for next 3 levels.
Now you can use the warhorses ability to knock you target prone attack again with the war horse (that's only one bonus action used) then make melee attacks with your weapon at advantage, use action surge to make second attack at advantage. Using a lance with +4 in strength you can do a whopping 34 damage ON AVERAGE! Not to mention that you can add your divine smite to make the total damage 42! Also the creature is now prone and if you still have movement you can back off and when it uses half of its movement to stand up it most likely wont make it to you for an attack. Then you rinse and repeat. Basiclly breaks the game if you can get into one on one combat.
Use the Mount Master feat, your mounts attack is a bonus action.
SWeeeet. I will thanks.
