Hello adventurers! We have some exciting developments to share with you on integrating our newest releases, Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerûn and Forgotten Realms: Adventures in Faerûn, into D&D Adventurers League and Legends of Greyhawk.
Adventurers League Updates

All character options in Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerûn are available in the Forgotten Realms campaign of D&D Adventurers League. Faction renown benefits are not available. For Dragonlance, Eberron, and Ravenloft, instead use the character options listed for Legends of Greyhawk (see below).
Creators crafting Forgotten Realms campaign adventures for the Dungeoncraft program may use the new monsters present in Forgotten Realms: Adventures in Faerûn.
The D&D Adventurers League Player’s Guide, the D&D Adventurers League DM’s Guide, and the Dungeoncraft Design Guide will be updated with these changes, which will be posted in the D&D Beyond Organized Play forum in the next few weeks. For questions and feedback, visit the official D&D Discord, where you can find Adventurers League channels under “Organized Play.”
Heroes of Faerûn in Legends of Greyhawk
The release of Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerûn contains character options that are suitable for Legends of Greyhawk. We’ve updated the Legends of Greyhawk Guide to accommodate these new options, which include adding the following for character creation:
- 6 subclasses: College of the Moon (Bard), Knowledge Domain (Cleric), Banneret (Fighter), Oath of the Noble Genies (Paladin), Winter Walker (Ranger), and Bladesinger (Wizard)
- 4 feats: Cold Caster, Fairy Trickster, Genie Magic, Street Justice
- 8 spells: Backlash, Blade of Disaster, Cacophonic Shield, Conjure Constructs, Death Armor, Dirge, Doomtide, and Wardaway
For details, check out the “Additional Sources” section of the guide. These new options are available to play immediately. Players can rebuild their existing characters to include one or more of these options—see the guide for more information.
Updating the Legends of Greyhawk Guide: How, Why, and When
With our first update for Legends of Greyhawk, we thought it would be good to discuss what future updates will look like. As a reminder, the campaign is currently in beta, so this process may change based on feedback or program adjustments.
With each Wizards D&D release with character options, we’ll update the guide with any new options available for character creation and may clean up other sections of the guide. In general, you can expect the guide update to get posted here on D&D Beyond during the early access period for the release or slightly before.
Some releases will include a subset of character options from the source that are available for use, instead of the full source. It is our intention to have at least some options from each release available for the campaign. We evaluate the content based on the following criteria:
- Does the option strongly suggest a specific setting, or does it seem to be broadly applicable?
- Does the option have a requirement tied to another option that strongly suggests a specific setting?
- Does the option fit within the milieu of the Greyhawk setting?
In general, we’d rather have a more measured approach to including options from new releases. It is easier for us to add options later than remove ones. As this is a living campaign, your feedback is valuable to future inclusions of character options and any other campaign rules or guidance. The best way to provide this feedback is through our official D&D Discord, where you can find a Legends of Greyhawk channel under “Organized Play.”
Have fun playing with the newest options in Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerûn, and we’ll have more updates soon!

Posted Nov 3, 2025We'll have more to share on circle casting soon for Forgotten Realms AL. For Legends of Greyhawk and the non-FR AL campaigns, what is listed is what's available from that book.

Posted Nov 4, 2025The discord link connects to the D&D Archive Discord Server. I think the correct link should be https://discord.gg/dnd.

Posted Nov 4, 2025Is someone going to update the rulesets here https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/d-d-organized-play/192532-d-d-adventurers-league-resources-links? I think the current linked ones are from 2024 and many new AL rules have been added or updated.

Posted Nov 4, 2025Will there eventually be a greyhawk sourcebook or sourcebooks in other settings? I feel as though it would be far mor efficient if their was a sourcebook for each setting WOTC which to allow.

Posted Nov 6, 2025Circle casting can make a delayed blast fireball have a 24 hour duration, meaning it can oneshot anything in the game.

Posted Nov 8, 2025Given that at least one of the spells now allowed in Legends of Greyhawk - I noticed Doomtide on the list - has Circle Magic built into it, how will that work at the table?

Posted Nov 8, 2025No, that means the explosion can be delayed for 24 hours. IOW, you can cast the spell, choose where it will go off, and set the "how long until boom" to 24 hours.

Posted Nov 9, 2025Circle Magic is not one of the items allowed in Legends of Greyhawk. It is not on the list above. There is your answer.

Posted Nov 9, 2025"The spell’s base damage is 12d6, and the damage increases by 1d6 whenever your turn ends and the spell hasn’t ended." It will one shot anything in the game b/c the spell won't end for 24 hours lmao. I don't think circle casting should be in the game.

Posted Nov 9, 2025To be clear, I think circle casting is broken and shouldn't be in the game

Posted Nov 10, 2025To be equally clear, I categorically disagree on both points.
Could it have used a little more time in the oven? Maybe tweaking things like the Duration boost? Sure. But that doesn't mean it's completely broken, nor that it doesn't add an interesting new wrinkle to the game, both tactically and strategically.
But, with your Delayed Blast Fireball idea: you need to know where the thing you are about to one-shot will BE in 24 hours. What's more, anyone who could see where you center the spell upon casting it, knows what's going to happen, and with a probably-not-difficult Intelligence(Arcana) roll, can probably know when it's going to go off, right down to the minute. So it can only one-shot something that you've already immobilized for a full 24 hours. At which point, one-shotting it in any way at all, is just showing off. :)

Posted Nov 10, 2025The problem here is, that the spell description of some spells - again, Doomtide is a prime example - includes benefits for casting as Circle Magic.
I forsee ... "discussions" ... at the table anytime someone tries to cast this as Circle Magic.
So, if I may be so bold as to strongly implore you to pass the word up the chain-of-command, that those specific spells need to be explicitly called out in relation to Circle Magic not being permitted in LoG play...? :)
