Just looking through some of my PC character sheets and I noticed the Barbarian had 20 AC even though he is wearing armor. The Armor is white dragon scale and the calculation on his character sheet is giving him unarmored calculations. The scale is worn and it is attuned would this be a bug or have I overlooked something?
I'm pretty sure that armour is homebrew, have you tried removing it and donning normal armour and seeing if that still allows the unarmoured AC on top?
I suspect the homebrew armour was set up incorrectly or offers some bonus or something.
A link to the character sheet may also help.

Dragon scale from the dmg is scale mail (14 ac) and is +1 to ac. Since its scale it allows up to 2 from dex. By my math it should be 17 ac max, 19 with a shield.
Hmmm, for some reason it seems to be taking the highest bonus, rather than validating if armor is on and switching off unarmored defense. I'll raise this with the team to take a look.
if you click on the AC on the character sheet, it will give you a breakdown of the calculation being used:
As you can see - it's using the AC calculation for the Barbarian unarmored defense and adding a bonus from the Bracers of Defense.
In this case, you're correct, equipping the armor SHOULD disable the AC calculation for unarmored defense. When the D&D Beyond character sheet calculates AC, it evaluates all valid AC calculations available to the character and then takes the higher value.
What we need is some logic that says the unarmored calculation for the Barbarian cannot evaluate if the character has armor equipped.
It's not something that comes up very often though, as most characters don't want to wear a suit of armor that will make their AC worse by 4 points!
I see this is 3 years old and still not fixed. Is there any way to fix this or override the AC calculation in the DnD Beyond sheet? I found this looking at one of my player's sheets before we start a campaign.

You can click AC on the sheet and customise, then set it to whatever you want.

While this is a valid workaround, it should not be necessary when adding built-in items. I have characters equipped with standard magical armor (leather +1, studded leather +2, straight out of the database, no homebrew or custom items), and none of them are adding their magical bonuses to the AC. It appears that DND Beyond simply ignores any and all magical armor bonuses when calculating AC, and it ought not to.

Oh no, you have this wrong. It does this absolutely perfectly. The issue is you have either overridden your AC or forgetting that you only have one AC calculation at a time when you have two or more on the character. Or you're using homebrew that hasn't been made correctly.

Does the armor require attunement?
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
Yes, it does. So, OP needs to check if he attuned the armor.

Wary the wizard who focuses on homebrew, for he can create nightmares that you wouldn't even dream of
Yeah, if it's not attuned, that's likely the reason it's not affecting the character's stats.
