It seems Order of the Lycan is much better in terms of damage output and AC, while giving some more interesting RP feel with the chance to loose control...and some less RP feel witht he fact that instead of a wild beast you are looking at an intelligent hunter type.......Also, you have the option to use Dex in your attack making it somewhat less MAD. I like the idea of playing a werewolf type character but find the Bloodhunter Order of Lycan still substantially stronger...
Order of the Lycan is a subclass for Blood Hunter, an entirely homebrewed class from Critical Role. And, from the look of the Fighter and Wizard subclasses (and spells!) there's a lot of power leaps in Critical Roll's stuff.
So... yeah. Not much to really say other than that. If you're playing a game, go with what's 1) allowed by the DM, and 2) most fun for you.
You need to look again if you think Order of the Lycan isn't MAD. You need DEX, CON, INT, and WIS. I think you're also discounting the damage reduction from Rage which makes Barbarians considerably tougher. And it's not really known for having crazy damage. I don't really see how it's stronger, but if you have some numbers that say otherwise I'd love to see them.

My homebrew subclasses (full list here)
(Artificer) Swordmage | Glasswright | (Barbarian) Path of the Savage Embrace
(Bard) College of Dance | (Fighter) Warlord | Cannoneer
(Monk) Way of the Elements | (Ranger) Blade Dancer
(Rogue) DaggerMaster | Inquisitor | (Sorcerer) Riftwalker | Spellfist
(Warlock) The Swarm
I know it's relatively mad, although I tend to let the Wisdom go simply as it's more fun.......so Dex, Con and Int....
There is also damage reduction, although only for non-silvered and non magic weapons....plus the AC bonus....
However I agree with the previous comment on power leaps for Critical Role....sapping sting may be the most powerful cantrip....
