So I have a familiar pseudodragon and was looking to build a character sheet for it but couldn't really find any functionality to develop one for anything outside of the standard races and classes format. My DM made a character sheet for a wolf familiar I had in another campaign and when I asked him how he did that he said he just found an empty character sheet pdf online and filled it in - which worked fine but doesn't seem like a very elegant solution. The only other option I've found is to homebrew a monster and input the specific stats, sense, skills etc I want the familiar to have - but this doesn't produce an editable and interactable character sheet in the same way I would use one for a character.
So basically, obviously we can make do without, but I'm just suggesting if there was a functionality to build character sheets for animal familiars it would be quite neat. Who's with me?
EDIT: Beyond the functionality provided in the Extras tab - basically more customisation specifically in skills, senses, traits, magic etc. would be cool in my opinio, not just stats.
You mean beyond the functionality already built into the character sheet under Extras/Familiars?
I've stared and stared at my character sheet but can't see anything to do with Familiars under Extras 😅 I've also gone into the character builder and gone through all the Extra items I can add and there is no Familiar? All help on this topic is very welcome!
In box type in the form of the familiar (e.g. cat if a cat familiar). Add. You can then customise it to change name and track hit points and make notes.

I think a character sheet for familiars are a great Idea! I have a humunculus and All I know about it is the stuff they give give me. With a character sheet for it, I could add new actions, Make new features and get to know my homunculus better. After all, The homunculus is my familiar. I should be familiar with all its info, not just a snippet.
you already have stuff in the extras tab that gives you the statblocks for your familiar, for your Wildshape forms, for your homunculus or steel defender. You don't need a character sheet for them because you don't get anything other than the statblocks provided by the familiar, the Wildshape, or the homunculus infusion and the steel defender from Battle Smith. This is a feature we already have, and don't need any changes to.

You mean this homunculus? That’s all there is. They don’t get stuff added to them unless it’s a houserule from the DM.

While this is certainly a better solution than homebrewing a creature, it doesn't seem to offer any customisable skills, senses, or characteristics though? Which is really what I was getting at. For me, familiars are as much a part of the campaign as the other characters and I feel it detracts from the immersiveness of the game if a familiar is essentially treated as a piece of equipment to add on, with just stats and a hit point - as if it were any random creature we happened upon.

Agreed - this is exactly what I mean when I say I want to be able to treat my familiar as another character. My familiar has a whole backstory which only makes sense if he can breathe fire, for example - which the generic one can't, although many in the homebrew section have a range of alternative skills, including burning breath. In my opinion, a familiar should be customisable to an extent, although I appreciate this can in some cases come down to the DM.

Thanks for your response, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one. The functionality in the Extras tab is a great starting point, but that is all it is. Of course we can and should be able to build familiars into more of a character than just statblocks. I think what this ultimately comes down to is whether you take a more imaginative approach to the game. In our campaign we're encouraged to elaborate on our characters, come up with backstories and set the scene. But I take your point in that this is not a necessity in order to play and enjoy the game. But it would be neat.
I heard there is a way to make your own character sheet thing like customize and and stuff to change it like instead of it syaing character name is says familiar names anyone know how to do this?
