I can not get any weapons to change, I want a 2d6 Glaive, but I can’t, I want a 1d6 Knife but can’t. I can add damage and I can change the type of damage, but I cannot change the simple things. Please help.
As I understand it, there is currently no way to create variant of existing weapons with different dice count/type or properties. Nor a way to create a new custom weapon. You have to base it on an existing one for the moment.
I think the recommended option I've seen is to create a custom action where you can define the dice count and type.
Another thing you might do is to go to "Create a Magic Item," then start with whatever weapon(Probably a Greatsword and a Hatchet or something, respectively), then fill it out using the "Weapon Property" and "Ignore Weapon Property" modifiers. This is the long way to do it, but it's definitely the nicest in the long run(So it properly interacts with the various features and spells that effect weapon attacks).
Another option is to take an existing weapon that has the damage you want and rename it to the new weapon type. Want a di8 thrown dagger. Get a thrown weapon that has a d8 damage add it to your character sheet rename it dagger.
So, I'm looking to make a shillelagh. Basically a quarterstaff with some flavoring, that shows up as a 1d8 instead of a 1d6, and automatically uses Wisdom as its modifier instead of Strength. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this. Any tips?
Start with war hammer name it what you want. In equipment list It already has versatile and d8 damage (and d10 for two handed). I'm not sure how to change it to wisdom you might have to create a custom actions for the use of it directly on the character sheet one for each damage level.
You're welcome. Put a bit of effort into it next time, it's a really easy process.
I know this post is old, but this method didn't work for me. I wanted to make a greathammer of equivalent damage to a greataxe. If I used the ignore weapon property versatile and try to add my own afterwards it doesn't allow it. The versatile property just doesn't appear. What did work was renaming the greataxe -> greathammer and changing its damage type to bludgeoning. So end result is still clean.
Did I misunderstand your instructions for the property modifiers?
I would like this ability. One of my players wanted to reskin his handaxe (change the base damage die.) I have used a workaround, but I feel this would be a fantastic feature.
Maybe add it to the list of modifiers? Along with the ability to add/remove weapon properties such as versatile, etc. Or just create new non-magical items.
Any Ideas for creating a quarterstaff for a monk that will do 1d 8 one hand 1d 10 two hand and can extend to 10ft. I tried using a glaive but the monk mechanic forces it to only use simple weapons. And Yes the group/ Dm named it Morning Wood lol

Start with a greatclub and add the following modifiers:

Thank you, that worked, it’s a named weapon, so it’s not to big a deal to do it that way
I just posted a snippet on how to make a custom action/attack on this support page:

I hope this helps

I’m just trying to make a long knife, knife that does 1d6 instead of 1d4 is all

Literally exactly what I said you should do.

Thank you. I really appreciate this, I should have started with a different weapon, instead of trying to modify the knife.
Nice handaxe.

"Long Knife"
Did you mean Shortsword?

Start with a greatclub and add the following modifiers:
Make Sure you re-save the whole magic item after adding those modifiers!
And if it won’t let you use Dex then also add:
Creating Epic Boons on DDB
DDB Buyers' Guide
Hardcovers, DDB & You
Content Troubleshooting
That did it. Thank you and I din't have to add the finesse subtype
I'm currently trying to modify a greataxe to do 2d12 damage instead of 1 d12... can't seem to get it to work right.
