Any chance we can get more character slots? I know the free version of DDB comes with six slots, and that a subscription level would get me from there to infinite, but I need more than six while also not needing infinite. I'm even willing to meet the developers half-way on this and accept this sort of feature on a micro-transactional level. Say, $1 per slot beyond the first free six or six new slots for $5. Six slots isn't even enough to experiment with the twelve classes and nine races that come in the Free Basic Rules, not even considering the sub-class/sub-race options and extras that come in the various pay-to-use books like the PHB, Volos, or XGE or other free content like the EE Guide.
So yeah, I'm not really sure why six slots was randomly chosen to begin with, and I'd much rather give DDB money for the space I need rather than fork over subscription money monthly and lose all of those slots when I stop paying. Any chance DDB would like to take my money?
Before anyone asks, I'm not terribly interested in the side features that DDB's current subscription levels offer beyond more character slots.

I had a similar question a while back and at the time, it was not a direction that was being considered. It is VERY much something I would be interested in having purchased slots available separate from a subscription. I'm going to guess that it, at this time, is still not something that will be available.
On a side note, lots of exciting features in the works for the next few months. Mobile app, character sheet Overhaul, etc. Maybe this could be reconsidered after those items are complete?
Wait, there's the subscription for that?! Maybe it would be a good idea to put a disclaimer on the characters list once you hit the limit, for I have had no idea that there's a subscription to extend the limit. I would be willing to pay for that, if only I would know.
yeah it's a little hidden. Marketplace/subscriptions. I went looking because I have a few modules and wanted to let my roll20 users go over creating a character with all the PHB and Xanathars content. It's almost a pity that it's "Master Tier" 6 bucks a month to let someone use my character creator to make a sheet for my game using my $50 worth of books :(
The problem comes when you're dm'ing and want to make levelling easier for the party. There's allot of PHB stuff that's missing so you only get Grapple and Oath of Devotion etc which makes it hard for a newer player to know what they can build. Master fixes that but Hero lets you make all the characters but you have to tell the players what the options are.

Hiya JackoTJK,
That's because the intended mechanism for sharing your unlocked content with others in a campaign is via a master subscription, which will allow them to see all of the abilities and read up on what they do. With a Hero subscription, whilst you can indeed make the characters and allow others in the campaign to use them, as you discovered this is a suboptimal experience for those involved.
+1 for getting a separate option to simply get more character slots I care nothing for the expansions or the subscriptions and would gladly pawn off $10 for unlimited slots, or at the very least 4x the standard slots, for the account
I've given DnD Beyond hundreds of dollars to get access to books I've already bought and they also want a subscription. No thanks, that's beyond ridiculous.
I'd suggest they start with two slots and you get an extra one for each book purchased. I love the product, but I hate being taken advantage of.
That's a bit over-zealous, Mjahaha. It's only $26 a year. That's less than the average price of a brand new video game. All things considered, it's pretty cheap.

Myself I have everything here, with the Master subscription and I am only a player. I have enabled content sharing in my DM's campaign which is why he joined here (I'm advertising for DDB, and helping to promote them) the other players in the campaign are loving DDB and may very well make there own purchases. So a subscription for Master is $56.00 a year and is an awesome deal to me and I live on a tight budget, so you can do as you choose but they are not taking advantage in this day and age. Then with the app I can access my books offline which helps as I could not lug them around due to disability.

I guess so, I just hate subscriptions. Especially after spending so much. I have god knows how many products siphoning my money already.

This isn't meant to come off as dickish, but isn't that technically your fault? I mean, you choose most of where your money goes.

A new video game is yours, if you pay for it. Subscription-based content is not. Whether the subscription is worth the money or not, I agree that there should be a way of permanently increasing character slots, as there really are a lot of options to try. And I really do understand not wanting to pay subscription fees on top of buying ddb books that you have already bought physical copies of previously.

You're encountering exactly why there's a subscription for more character slots.

If you just want to experiment, create your character, export the sheet, then delete it and make another.

Master subscription = sitting at a table and everyone shares the books to make thier character
Hero subscription = 1 guy with the manuals makes your parties characters over the phone

OP i totally agree. I'd LOVE an option to buy character slots instead of having to pay a subscription.
