Hi. With the recent removal of all Unearthed Arcana content from D&D Beyond, I have been trying to homebrew all of the missing content so my players can have access to it in my campaigns, but I am encountering a pretty annoying - albeit manageable - bug in the homebrew race process. I can add homebrew subraces just fine, but when it comes to editing all the details and options - in this instance, racial traits - they never save and do not get added.
For example, one of my players in an upcoming adventure wishes to play a Gemstone Dragonborn. I told him I would add it to my homebrews in dndb so he could have access to it. Unfortunately, though I have managed to create the Gemstone Dragonborn subrace, when it comes to adding in the various options for which gem he wants his ancestry to relate to - in this instance, Topaz - I can't actually add those as selectable options in the racial trait feature. They just simply do not save. I wondered if maybe there was a bug with the new race option so I tried actually making copies of the Dragonborn race with the intent to just simply convert all of its information to the Gemstone Dragonborn instead, but I am experiencing the same issue there, as well. I told him, for now, just add it to his notes and try to keep track of it all himself, but I would love to be able to fix this for future scenarios.
Anyone experiencing the same issue? Anyone know a possible fix?
Yes, you are missing one of the required fields. Most likely you are not making it a “granted” option. However, the Ahem/Metalic/chromatic varieties are not “Subraces” at all, they are “variant races,” and the different kinds are “options” attached to those race variants. If you want to make your life easier, send me a PM inviting me to a campaign just the two of us.
I had a copy of Dragonborn open and made sure to copy all the necessary steps - such as when it appears in the builder, whether it's granted or a replacement, and necessary levels
I also mentioned I did even just try to edit a copy of it. The options just aren't saving. Don't have a clue why.
