I agree, HT. You have to make the character in the campaign, I do not believe (after extensive searching as well!) that you can add a character created outside of the campaign to a campaign. This also means, I am now thinking (though I have not tested it myself) that when a character finishes a given campaign, they cannot be brought directly into the next. You'd need to either have them be separate (character not in campaign) or you'd need to recreate the character in the new campaign.
You can add a character to a campaign. You get an option to create a character or join with a character. You can't a particular character in two campaigns. To join a new campaign, you have to remove the character from the previous campaign.
I'm really sad that this feature doesn't exist. Now I have to copy characters over that I spent hours making the first time. :(
You can use the very same link you give your players to upload an existing character of yours.
Oh, I see what you're saying. Thanks! Yeah, you can't do it from your campaign's home screen, but if you go to the invite link it does give you the option. I appreciate your reply!
Hang on - what now? How do I add an already created character to an existing campaign?
If you are a player who has received an invite link from a DM, click on the invite link. You will be taken to a page where you can elect to use an existing player you have created or create a new player.
If you are the DM and want to add a character to a campaign you created, click on “copy link” under the box that shows the campaign link. Paste the link into the url bar your your browser and hit return; you are taken to the same page;
One year after the initial release and this is still not solved. It is not just counterintuitive, is moronic to have you go to your own link to add a character created by you to one of your own campaigns.
I would like to add "my characters to my campaign" I don't care about D&D rewards. These characters are my kids for a home based game.
Did you read the thread? Earlier posts already tell you how. On the “my campaign” page, find the campaign link in the upper right. Click on “copy link” there. Open a new browser tab. Paste the link in the url. Hit return.
not sure what you mean by D&D rewards or how it relates to this discussion.
(for ArwensDaughter: I'm bumping for a more sensible way of doing things. I've played multiple campaigns on DnDbeyond, as player, as a DM, but I was just again googling how to add my character to a campaign, because the current UI doesn't offer anything remotely logical to do this.)
Created a new campaign first time, pasted link for players and they kept claiming unassigned chars. just a datapoint for the UX review needed for this.

One more vote for making this easier to add your own characters to your own campaign.
Thank you.
Please make this less difficult!
Another request for this please :)

Great, thanks.

EDIT: I was clicking the wrong link by mistake. Ignore.
I'm currently on mobile. I can't get this to work. When I click my campaign link I get immediately put on one of my players' characters on the screen.
Bump
Can you be specific about what you are bumping? The question of the OP has been answered.

Thank you, got it. Shame not a link inside where the characters are.
