Sorry. I have been digging through the support documentation and the forums and I came up empty. So here is it: Can I set another user as dungeon master role for a campaign?
I have purchased a Master Tier subscription along with some books, if I want to share those benefits with my compatriots, I have to create the campaign, do I not? If I join a campaign another player has created, do they get the benefits of my Master subscription just for me joining the campaign? Without being able to set another user as DM ... the DM always has to be the Master subscription holder, otherwise, what is the benefit of having a Master subscriptionas a non-DM user.

You can't designate someone but if they create a campaign and you join and sharing is enabled your books should be shared with everyone in the campaign.
When looking at a campaign you've joined, you have the option to turn on sharing even if the DM has a free account. That's the point of the subscription, limited to three campaigns, and you need to turn the option on within the campaign.

As of right now, the dungeon master role can't be transferred to another user in the campaign.
However, in your situation, even if you aren't the DM of the campaign, you can still turn on content sharing for that campaign. Once that's on, content from all users in the campaign (including the DM's content) will be shared across all characters in that campaign. So, one user can own the PHB content, another can own SCAG content, and a third user can have the Master Tier sub and turn on content sharing, and all three characters in that campaign will have access to the above mentioned content.
This would be a great feature, especially for those of us interested in more open style campaigns that take turns as DM, excusing or automating our characters as NPC's during that game for maintained party balance.
Is this situation still the case? Or has the feature to transfer DMs been added?
It still works this way; you can’t transfer a campaign to another DM, but ANY participant in the campaign can turn on campaign sharing if they have a master tier sub.
Setting up a new campaign requires getting all players to re-enter the new campaign which somehow always involves reminding. It's also easy to forget the 'little things' like notes, unassigned characters and content sharing.
It would also allow more techsavvy/experienced players to set up the campaign in order to save the DM that preparation.
Also, with new possibilities like encounters (and hopefully more virtual desktop functionality being added) the amount of relevant data within the campaign keeps increasing. Better to get the feature in right now instead of slowly locking into a design where it could be much harder to enable it in the future.
Anyway, it isn't a huge killer-must-have-feature but in my eyes it shouldn't be very hard to implement either so it should have a fair bang-for-the-buck?

Thanks for more detail. That will help the devs understand use cases. I never presume to know what is easy to implement and what isn’t. And more than ease of fix goes into prioritizing what gets worked on next. I will say that there are other improvements that get more requests here than this one, so I think it may be quite a while before this happens.
True about presuming to know what's easy and what's not. That's why I put it in general terms. If I would be specific I would expect this to be no more than a single field update in the relevant table :).
That's even more true about priorities. It's their product roadmap and they should decide what to invest in. However, I do think any product manager will weigh benefit versus cost, so how easy it is to implement will surely factor in.
Also, this feature is something that has been on the table for a while (someone called it 'highly requested' back in 2017 already) and I just wanted to make sure the devs know it's still something people miss.

I’m glad you shared! It helps the devs prioritize.
My current DnD group, groups really (2 campaigns, 10 players, 3 DM) have adopted a very interesting and surprisingly effective strategy of playing with two DMs in our latest few campaigns. We love DnD Beyond, but BOTH DMs not being able to have full access to the campaign on the site/app is frustrating at times. We have 2 Master Teir users and have no problem content sharing, we are well versed and keep up regularly with updates and feature announcements. Allowing us to have multiple, simultaneous DM roles assigned to players would be a huge win for our adopted playstyle. inb4 "Why two DMs". It streamlines combat by splitting creature duties OR one controlling creatures/strategy while the other crunches numbers, HP, saves, condition reminders, etc. Also, out of combat, each DM voices different characters. We've found this to help players visualize and seperate NPC's as well as create a wider variety of possible "personas" and clarify situations where multiple NPCs are interacting with the party simultaneously. Very effective! And you get someone to talk to between sessions and collaborate with as well, which obviously is AMAZING! Please add this feature!
Hi new Master tier subscription here thinking about buying the legendary bundle but I don't DM. I want to make sure I'm understanding this thread correctly.
The workaround to have someone else DM a campaign that you own is for them to create a blank campaign and invite you to it and then you turn on content sharing. Then they load the campaign from your content? does it still run the same way?

Not as of right now, but this is something that has been highly requested, and is being looked at by the developers.
A dwarf with a canoe on his back? What could go wrong?

Also looking for this feature!
Would love to have this feature enabled. I don't DM but subscribe to the master tier to share the content with my other fellow players.
Still not implemented, I presume? Please do!
Can you spell out why you need such a feature?

Sure. Need is a strong word, but it saves hassle.

I still would like this feature.
You can share content in a campaign that was not created by you.
So you can have the DM create the campaign and you share the content.
