Hi everyone, I have a question about the quality of maps you can open and download. I own Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide copy on DnD Beyond but when I open the Sword Coast map and zoom in a little, it's very blurry and the texts are pixeled and not comfortably readable. Is it possible to get an HD version of the maps?
Click on the map so it opens in the Window-in-Window popup. Then right-click on that and Save As. For the Eberron map, the resulting image is 5033x3548 pixels. The SCAG map is 4050x3300
That's what I did and you are right about the resolution but the map is still quite large and detailed and when you zoom in to be able to read and see individual parts, it just doesn't look nice.
If you zoom in far enough, that's always going to happen. Nonetheless, I just tried it and it looked pretty good to me. Are you sure you got the full-size image? (For me, I right-clicked and selected "open image in new tab", but your browser may vary.) If you didn't, it's already lost image data, which will just get more obvious as you zoom.
jpg (which is what the maps are stored as) are a type of Rasterized graphic. Image data is stored as X,Y positions, so you will always see the jagged edges at a moderate zoom, unless they made the images significantly bigger. As images are a big part of bandwidth costs, making them as small as possible is a necessity. Doubling the width and height is actually a 4x increase is storage space, which is why they don't.
It would be nice if they gave us vector graphic options, but unless they are originally made as vectors (which is possible, as vector graphics are mainly used for printing), then it won't help.

Same issue for the Khorvaire map in the Eberron book

Thank you.
so it seems the issue is with the Map stored in the App version. Web window based map is much clearer when zoomed in
