Personally I've found that narrowing down the spells by class and casting time has reduced the chances of missing the spell you are looking for however some of my favorite spells are not on the SRD, which feels rather limiting on the site.

It's certainly a restriction for now, but the finished product will have spells in from all of your favourite D&D 5e books.
I notice that not all the spell that came out through books of 5e or articles are not all there. Would those be add in later or not? I think if the spell section is like a spell book that it should be there that is just my opinion.

At the moment, the 'COMPONENTS' filter doesn't seem to be working entirely the way I'd expect. At a glance I would guess clicking V, S or M filters spells that INCLUDE that. However, when toggling all three and searching all spells I can see at least 5 spells on the first page not tagged as requiring a material component that have appeared on the list anyway.
Equally, I'd like to be able to 'exclude' components. IE, see all spells that DO NOT have a verbal component, in the case of a character being gagged or some such it would be good to know what they cannot cast.
I feel so ungrateful making suggestions, when the material presented already is great. In addition to being able to filter by V, S, M it would be helpful to be able to fine tune the material components to those that incur an actual cost. Thanks.
One of the issues I run into is the AoE of spells. Lots of players, both new and experienced, can find the descriptions confusing. Putting a miniature graphic with the AoE marked on spells like Fireball, Cone of Cold etc... would be super helpful.
This may make things needlessly complicated, but I switch between open (no grid, eyeballing distance), square grid, and hex grid. Not sure if it would be beneficial in the event of including a graphic to allow it to show as either square or hex.

No need to feel negative in any way - the developers want your feedback, ideas and anything else constructive that will help them keep improving the DBB toolset.
Also, good suggestion! So many classes use a focus that render components unnecessary, it would be great to see which definitely need to be carried.

VillainTheory is 100% correct. We want to make the best site for the community and all of your feedback helps so much!
Sorry if this has already been posted, too many pages to go through. Any plans on adding a filter to the spell list for range/area type? IE: touch, blast, burst, single target ranged, etc
So far, the spell list and the monsters list are what I've been using the most, and I love the convenience of being able to just type in what I need and having all the information at my fingertips. It definitely helps to conserve tabletop space when playing with a small group, around a card table in my living room!
I believe there are more advanced search options being added in the future per some other comment I've seen floating around possibly in more than one place. But to sum up what I am seeing here is:
1) If you click on V,S, and M all together some people are saying they want only spells that need all three rather than it meaning at least one of those. I am thinking the way it is set now each is its own separate trigger and not set as a combo. Maybe there needs to be a way to look for combos, not each one - so also VS, VM, MS, and VSM where these selections only pull up spells with both or all three. Right now clicking all three is showing everything that has at least one of the choices.
2) The searching by range thing has come up a lot. I've even seen a bug report on how it isn't working well to search by range and getting things they did now want or missing things. I believe the bug is being worked on, so maybe in the end we'll have advanced searching that works better when we search for casting range.
3) If the spell is an AOE, it would be awesome if the spell info not only gave the standard rules info, but explain it better as how many 5x5 squares we would be covering and an option to have it show in hex if we want. I'm not sure we need a diagram, though that would be cool as a pic in the overall spell description as some people will get it way faster visually than verbally.
4) I really applaud the moderators for managing to keep on politely saying, "Testing is with SRD content only." I'm getting sick of seeing that when there is a pinned thingy telling us all that if we read. I keep adding my two coppers here and there to say this is due to it being a functionality test of the app, not a supplier of all the information .... yet. =) Will say again it is the smart thing to do. Put in a good amount of info to test functionality, but not bog down the initial test with everything or put stuff out there you want us to pay for later. But that price thingy is another topic and we shall not speak of here. ;)
Keep on testing and we can understand if things get repeated by those adding things later as there is a LOT of comments and everything in here with great suggestions and bug reports. Not everyone has the time to peruse this as much as I do to see what is going on. ;) I'm also keeping myself from getting antsy by playing a few play by post games besides my regular crew that meets up on roll20 every other week.

Ok thank you for this information I just wanted to see if they are being added.
Are there plans to add the spells from the elemental evil companion guide? Since it was a free splatbook?
The spell Ray of Sickness is not in the spell book.

Could it filter on Ritual (-, yes, no) as items do for attunement?
*That horrible feeling when you discover the adv search option you missed earlier*
The ability to delete your own posts off the forum would be nice though......

It would be nice to be able to see the full spell name on mobile
Even though it is technically play testing in would be great if unearthed arcana spells were listed too
