Hi, I'm fairly new with actively using D&D beyond and wanted to ask if there's been a method of simplifying the spell list on the digital character sheet? It felt a bit excessive to have the lower level spells repeated on the higher level spell slots. I only thought of the idea now after rolling a Nat20 on a weapon attack and saw the damage value on the digital dice changed to reflect the critical hit.
P.S. I'm sorry if someone's already asked this
On sheet click the profile image to open the sidebar, click preferences in that sidebar. It will show the preferences menu in the sidebar. Scroll down to "Show Level-Scaled Spells". Click the toggle below that so it turns off (grey).
The effect should be immediate but if not you can just refresh the page. Either way, spells will no longer show at higher levels. This will be neater but does mean if you want to upcast spells for higher damage you'll have to roll manually instead (or turn the option back on).

Yes, there is! Go to the preferences by clicking your character's name or portrait and select Preferences in the popup window, then turn "Show level-scaled spells" off. This was one of my pet peeves, since it also suggested that only certain spells can be cast at higher level, but they added a way to turn it off and I am ever so grateful! You can still upcast any of your spells by clicking on the spell (not the cast button) and select the level in the popup window.

Is there a way or do the developers plan on adding a way to add additional spells beyond what your class allows as is?
Depending on class, my DM allows me to add certain spells to my known spells list, however I only use DDB to track my characters and I have no way of adding additional spells without creating a feat, and even then I don't fully know how to add more than one or two at a time. Does anybody know a simple way to add spells to my list?

Homebrew a version of the spell that adds the class in question, to the list of types of spell casters that have access.

That would only add it to the spells available for learning, which wouldn't give immediate access to it if your character has a limited number of spells known per level, like bards or sorcerers or warlocks. If your dm allows you to learn spells over your allotted limits and from outside your class's lists, that is very homebrew territory not supported by the general 5e rules, which dndbeyond is sticking to where possible, so you will have to resort to custom feats or magic items as a workaround.

You can add additional spells by making a homebrew copy of the subclass and adding a feature that will add the spells. Ensure "uses spell slot" is yes and "counts as known spell" is yes. Always prepared would be no.

this seems to be the best answer for what i was looking for
Hello there, I am trying to use the new feat from TCoE called Fighting Initiate. The feat does not give you the option of adding a fighting style in the editor as it says in the description. Currently just provides the description of the feat without any actual effect on the character sheet. Thanks in advance for fixing this up!

This is a known issue, explained in the first page of The Tasha’s support thread. At the moment there is not a way to enable this without breaking the sheets. It’s on t he lost to fix. For the meantime, if you know what fighting style you want to add, I believe you can homebrew a feat to represent it.
Would be nice if the browser version of the character sheet was adjustable dependent upon how your display/browser is configured. For example, I run three monitors for work, and when I play over video chat using my PC, I have the character sheet up on a monitor that is configured in portrait mode instead of landscape like most people set their monitors. I end up still having to scroll through sections of my player sheet that only takes up two-thirds of the browser window.
Seems that new optional features from Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything have not made it to character builder.
I was not able to select new optional spells for 1st level new bard. Command and color spray were not selectable. Checking the spell listin for these spells do not show bard tag either. https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/command

To use the optional class (or race) features, you have to turn them on in two places: first on the home page of the builder, by turning on the appropriate toggles under “Optional Feature” then on the class (or race) page using the Optional Feature Manager tab (or Optional Origin Manager tab on the race page). Turning on optional bard spells there puts them on the spell list (I just confirmed on a test character).
Because these are optional spells, they are not officially on the bard spell list, so they do not show up as bard spells in the spell listings. This is by design. I do think it would be nice, though, if eventually the team could set it up so that they would show up in the listings as “optional bard spells” and/or added a toggle (and appropriate tagging/fields) to “include optional spells from Tasha’s”

”Optional features” toggle I used definitely. But second thing I did not. Good if they are there. Seems bit hard to use though.
Just started using the DDB character build sheets. I find it very helpful. I have a few questions on how to use some of the features:
- When building a L1 sorcerer I could not get the cantrips and spells to populate the spell page on the .pdf download. I can see them when reviewing the character specs on the web site but they do not print out in the .pdf.
- I also have same issues with weapons selected. They do not show up in the "Weapons, Attacks, Cantrips" where the attack bonus and damage is listed for melee or ranges weapons. The unarmed attack shows up every time but none of the weapons I've selected do.
Am I doing something wrong when selecting the above items?
Thanks KPO

Is there an API so we can do our own versions of the character sheet export?
No. There are plans eventually for a public api, but that is a long ways down the road.

Then how do the roll bots for discord etc, get access to character info to parse??
Through a non-public API...
