I've looked and didn't see this, but a option under conditions, nor elsewhere that could toggle a barbarian's rage and auto add the +2 damage would be nice. I've had 2 new players be barbarian and constantly had to remind or ask them if they added the extra rage damage.
It is not a “condition” so wouldn’t be there. There is currently no software support for temporary effects like Rage. It’s in the works, just not available yet.
If your player clicks on their weapon and “customizes” it they can add the +2 damage to it there.
In manage equipment would it be possible to have the options to buy and sell equipment so it automatically deducts the gold? I think this would be a useful change, especially if you're like me when I build a Hexblade and sell weapons and armor to buy a weapon, shield, and better armor.
As an older gamer, having started playing DnD in the late 70s, I cannot express more earnestly my desire to have a VTT integrated into DnD Beyond. My close circle of friends have spread across the nation as real life tends to do, yet we still gather weekly to play on discord. Discord provides the communication while your competitors provide the table.
Having a common platform which manages, characters, references, and game play functionality determines where we invest. DnD Beyond provides a great platform for the older model of gathering to play and "players" wishing to cut overhead costs of gaming by sharing books; or to minimize the amount of stuff they have to take to travel to games, as a DM it does not offer enough game play functionality or virtualized gaming groups.
From a life long DM, it does not offer enough tools to make me switch from other platforms; you are losing investment from not having it. I am going to purchase my references to support my table;especially when they are integrated.
While I know some may completely play within a theater of mind style play; the majority of gamers I come across have more hybrid gameplay styles; there's a reason miniatures were born. Combat tracking; visualization of the map, lighting effects are not just aethetics but gameplay enablers.
Anecdotally, how many groups are like ours? One player hosts a campaign (for references purposes only and shares his books.. the rest of us no longer needs to) however we ALL use a VTT; monthly subscriptions from 6 of us go to the VTT; only 1 goes to DnD Beyond.
The market is moving from the community table top to virtualization and online. I want to support DnD Beyond; but the realities of sunk costs (which really is less impacting to a mature gamer with a career and free resources) is something to be considered.
My group is somewhat similar, and I feel the same. VTT is back-burnered, but for me its really the main thing that I am waiting for. Beyond20 is the only thing that really keeps us afloat.
I'd really love to be able to give my subscription fee that I am currently paying to roll20, over to DnDBeyond instead. I really want to support a company that does the good work that you do, and a VTT is the only missing portion in my current game configuration.
Ok so let's take the full road map, and just develop everything at once.
you guys have to understand that reguardless of how much you'll be saying that it is a need for you. they won't develop it now because out of everyone who actually gives feedback... not much of a percentage wants VTT to happen. but hey, the least you can do is to actually put your votes in on the roadmap. if everyone puts their vote on the roadmap, we might get things we actually want.
i too want many things, things that have been placed on back burner because people do not cast their vote on it. so you are not alone, but seriously... stop saying hoe much vital a VTT is, if it was that vital... it would have been voted first thing in the morning and would have already been developped. by the look of the roadmap, the VTT is at the bottom, it is the least asked for. mind you its not at the complete bottom, but it is far below. why ? because those who voted voted for things they rather have then have VTT. and there is much more people wanting other stuff done first.
heres the roadmap if you want to know whats on the menu. everything including voting is done from there. go, cast your votes, you never know maybe it'll pop sooner then you thought. https://trello.com/b/vIKxuEs8/dd-beyond-feature-roadmap

Actually, according to Adam “BadEye” Bradford himself, a VTT is highly requested by many users. But it will still take at least 1-2 years to develope.
if by highly requested by people you mean its in the later stages of the trello, like completely at the end of it.
again a VTT is like the campaign management where VTT means literally something different from people to people. to me a VTT is nothing but a table on which we can put down anything. but to others it is only a combat battle mat. to others its a video conference system. to certain people its a mix of the two. to other people its a complete system like roll20 and fantasy ground or even the foundry. to me, if its going to be as browser centric and tablet unfriendly as roll20 and fantasy ground, then i don't want it at all. those sites supposedly make it easy but they are anything but easy to learn. at that point... i'd preffer a more tablet centric virtual table top where everything can be done with your single finger. because i love using my pen to draw stuff or to adjust stuff, because my pen is more precise then my finger. but unfortunately no one thinks of those things. they all think we're gonna play on our desktop browser. in a world where most people uses a tablet or a phone to communicate or play with others.
but again, a VTT is many things to many different people. much like campaign management, its hard to judge how many people want what feature first. for my part, if people want the combat mat with tokens and all... what i suggest is the use of a simple technic... i bring out photoshop and just share screen with my players. there problem solved. and i have much much much more control on that then i have in roll20. but thats how i do it and up to this point, i haven't found anything better then that. except perhaps my own software which isn't finished that is entirely tablet friendly. but yeah... VTT is at the far end of the of the trello.

Apparently most people don’t vote there. You should pay more attention to these forums and DDB’s social media.
A forum only has about a 10% base that actually uses it. so even this forum is not even near anywhere a voting presence. one could argue that between all 4 or 5 presence they have attain about 50% in total in feedback of their whole user base. so saying everyone is a literally messed up way of saying... 100% of the "PEOPLE WHO CARES" actually said something.
while you tell me to just check on all of their social medias, as if a forum wasn't one... i don't think their facebook, which i am checking often, have said many things. as for other types of social media like tweeter, why would i check there considering i'm barely ever on other social media.
anyway, the truth being that out of their millions of users, only a certain fraction of it actually speaks. and while a fraction of people actually speaks, listening to those users would mean we'd have a much weaker experience here. just listening to your people is not enough, you have to curate what they are saying otherwise you end up with very very very bad features that aren't developped. again one has to wonder, you guys are all asking about VTT. but what is a VTT to you ?
and when i ask them, they all answer.... Roll20 ! if thats always your answer, then VTT will not happen until we have gotten much more then what we have here. and thats why VTT is at the lower end. because people just answer bullshit. their answer is equal to "I want roll20 but in here, fully integrated and finished a product with you having nothing else to add to it." that is what beyond comprehend when you tell them, you want a VTT or anything related to any other feature for that matter. it would be easier to understand if we had splitted it into numerous other features instead.
also the trello, hasn'T really moved since a year ago. most of the stuff in the short term planning is literally a year old. at this rate if people continue to ask for bullshit and ask for complete tings, we will not have them until about 10 years from now.
i think people have to start asking smaller things. i think beyond claim is quite precise... we won't achieve Roll20 anytime soon. instead they have been focusing on things roll20 do not have and i think company wise, its a good choice.
also... the beyond team seems to develop what "they" need for playing. most of them play theater of the mind and do not need a battle map. and when they do its only for a few fight here and there... so i think as players themselves... they don't think they require that. as a DM myself playing on many things, i would gladly see it if there was a battle mat here. probably use it, but in my games a battle mat is only used about 1 out of 5 or 6 sessions. to me thats a really low number of times to use a battle mat. the rest of the time i would use it just to show the pictures and drawings.
i feel like what most people think of a battle mat is that it helps visual people and i agree on that part, but playing on it all the time just make the game into a board game and that is a no no for me. this is what a VTT is for me... "an occasionnal use here and there when i need it" but i understand, some of my people asking me to just always have a map on, but the dynamic always changed to place my figurine there so i could see. place it there so i could search and i feel like im in a video game or a board game, and i am not there to play aboard game nor a video game. this is D&D, its neither of those two things. i started teaching those players how to visualise thing and started describing more to them then other groups. they have started being fine with it.
now as players, as mentionned, i dont think the beyond team see the necessity of a complete VTT if they themselves barely ever need it ?!! so they develop what they think they need for themselves first. i think thats why dice integration became in the forfront and i think thats also why campaign managament and monster builder got to the forefront even if they don't have that much priority over everything else.
i just think people should stop asking for mountains and start asking for hills instead, that way things would go faster.

Trying to get your physical content on Beyond is like going to Microsoft and saying "I have a physical Playstation disk, give me a digital Xbox version!"
IAmSposta... again how may people are on zendesk compared to the number of people who made an account just to see stuff and not dropping a thing. glad to know VTT is the next thing, that means i will have to wait another 2 years to get what i want. because i don't want a VTT, at least not the battle mat and token things. even less the video and audi stuff... but hey if beyond decides to do that, then so be it... its their thing to manage.
but again... saying the majority of "everyone" is wanting it... i'll have to ask you... what is "everyone" what does it mean ? as far as i know... only about 10% of the this forum actually are active, and out of that number only a very few percentage actually voted. social medias have the same tendencies... so the same can be said there... so again adding it all up you barely hit the surface of 50% and thats me being generous. so if by "everyone" you mean everyone who voted on zendesk... then your majority is probably much closer to about 20% of the people who voted wanted that first. the rest of the 80% is separated by every other threads that have been created. but thats not all... you can actually vote on every single thread in there. so imagine how many people actually just voted everything because they want everything. doesn't that null their vote since they just voted for everything yet have boosted the numbers of everything ?
again, good for them if they follow on that and do a VTT. but for me, i didn't vote everything... i voted only the things i wanted. and i can guarantee you that VTT wasn't in my votes. this is exactly why its hard to follow what a community wants. because the community itself often don't know what it wants. even if you do give them voting powers. and in the last year... many a thing were going forward way before a VTT. you'd imagine that if VTT was so much asked, we'd already have a WIP by now. which we don't. this leads me to believe that reguardless of how many people go vote for it... it won't happen soon. because me thinks the beyond team wants other things to be live first.

The problem with a VTT that is only 25% of the features of say Roll20 is that it would never be used. Or at least if used it would like 10 forum people.
so you want them to do the complete stuff, taking every time they have to do it and stop working on everything else ? thats why a VTT can't happen. Roll20 whe it started didn'T have all the features it has now, it started with about 10% of what it has now. and added over time.
right now, we already have the database, we already have the dice. we already have tokens and images in the database. really all that remains to be done is the audio and video conference and the battle mat with tokens. really we already have everything roll20 has. unfortunately what we have is the easy to do stuff. i'm trying to make a software that is basically roll20 for my own windows tablet. and believe me when i say, its much much much harder to do that then it looks. thats why they should concentrate on smaller things and eventually get there.
if they ever go VTT what i want to see... - tablet friendly full image without any menus. just the battle mat and the tokens. - easy point and click on something with context menu to manage the said selected item. - easy finger movement of the thing that is selected. - making changes to the battle mat without players seeing the rest of my screen. basically battle mat screen sharing. - in screen sharing, fog of war that DM see 50% opacity and players 100% opacity. that way dm knows what to show and players don't see it until it is revealed.
while all this seems easy to do... i can guarantee you they are not. i've been at it for months now. still have much troubles with them.

now as players, as mentionned, i dont think the beyond team see the necessity of a complete VTT if they themselves barely ever need it ?!! so they develop what they think they need for themselves first. i think thats why dice integration became in the forfront and i think thats also why campaign managament and monster builder got to the forefront even if they don't have that much priority over everything else.
i just think people should stop asking for mountains and start asking for hills instead, that way things would go faster.

Hunh? Well then how come here’s a link directly to a post by BadEye pointing out how a VTT is the most upvoted thing on zendesk? He even provided a link, you should check it out.

I'd love to see a Random Character Generator using all unlocked content (or books the DM is sharing for the campaign)!
Seconded, with an option to just one click randomize without having to exit the sheet and make a new one

Trying to get your physical content on Beyond is like going to Microsoft and saying "I have a physical Playstation disk, give me a digital Xbox version!"
IAmSposta...
again how may people are on zendesk compared to the number of people who made an account just to see stuff and not dropping a thing.
glad to know VTT is the next thing, that means i will have to wait another 2 years to get what i want. because i don't want a VTT, at least not the battle mat and token things.
even less the video and audi stuff... but hey if beyond decides to do that, then so be it... its their thing to manage.
but again... saying the majority of "everyone" is wanting it...
i'll have to ask you... what is "everyone" what does it mean ?
as far as i know... only about 10% of the this forum actually are active, and out of that number only a very few percentage actually voted.
social medias have the same tendencies... so the same can be said there... so again adding it all up you barely hit the surface of 50% and thats me being generous.
so if by "everyone" you mean everyone who voted on zendesk... then your majority is probably much closer to about 20% of the people who voted wanted that first. the rest of the 80% is separated by every other threads that have been created. but thats not all... you can actually vote on every single thread in there. so imagine how many people actually just voted everything because they want everything. doesn't that null their vote since they just voted for everything yet have boosted the numbers of everything ?
again, good for them if they follow on that and do a VTT. but for me, i didn't vote everything... i voted only the things i wanted. and i can guarantee you that VTT wasn't in my votes.
this is exactly why its hard to follow what a community wants. because the community itself often don't know what it wants. even if you do give them voting powers. and in the last year... many a thing were going forward way before a VTT. you'd imagine that if VTT was so much asked, we'd already have a WIP by now. which we don't. this leads me to believe that reguardless of how many people go vote for it... it won't happen soon. because me thinks the beyond team wants other things to be live first.

so you want them to do the complete stuff, taking every time they have to do it and stop working on everything else ?
thats why a VTT can't happen.

Dude, don’t shoot the messenger. You said that most people don’t want one. I provided a link to a post by the head of the company contradicting your claim. You want to debate it, take it up with BadEye. I don’t give a fig about a VTT. I don’t use them and don’t want to. Leave me out of it.
