Granting bonus feats is a big part of all the games I've played (and run). Surprised that this feature wasn't in higher early demand. Very hopeful to see it soon.
Glad I saw this, I had a similar, but slightly different problem. I'll note that I have bought the phb and then bits of pieces of other stuff depending on what I need (all the races, some additional subclasses, etc.)
Currently pretty heavily involved in one campaign, play every week. Playing an evil Warlock that made a deal with a Lich, the Lich's freedom for power, which resulted in myself permanently losing 4 hit points, but permanently knowing 4 additional Warlock spells. I can subtract the 4 hit points obviously, but for now I basically build the character, export the character sheet then hand type in the extra spells and what not, I can't actually use the app, which makes this website a glorified character sheet builder for that particular character. (I have used the feat workaround mentioned in this thread with items, but couldn't figure this one out).
I really like the concept, layout and design of this site. I want to invest more heavily (really eyeing just buying everything), but I'm going to have to wait and make sure that a simple system that allows for flexibility outside of RAW is first implemented in character building. Just my piece, thanks guys, enjoying what you have built so far.
Me and my group are trying out master subscription(with just PHB) for a month with our current characters but they all received feats at 1st level due to the fact we're playing the notoriously difficult "Hoard of the Dragon Queen". Would be great if we could get DM assigned feats implemented. Any timeline on when this will happen?

I don't have an answer for you, but a temporary fix can be to make magic items with the same powers. That's what I did for my campaign folks, since they all start with a special 'birthmark' in my world that grants a power. :)
I would also like to express my interest in this feature, any update?
Creating custom feats has been possible for a while. Adding feats to characters outside of the normal progression is expected to be part of the upcoming character sheet revamp.

How often do updates come out (roughly)? Weekly, monthly, quarterly or is it random? I've only been a subscriber a few weeks and trying to convince my group to use DnD Beyond. Would be nice if i could tell them that it's constantly being updated on a regular schedule.
There's no specific 'dates' for updates, but you can use the little changelog button at the top by your notifications to see all of the past updates. They make them pretty often.
Although I will use the Magic Item workaround (and I agree it's a great idea), has there been any word on updating it to actually read as a feat?
I'd also like to voice my desire for a bonus feats feature by bumping this thread. It's a big part of my games and I'm very excited for this ability!

This is actually the only feature missing (that I need) that lets me use dnd beyond during play. Hopefully the overhaul is ready soon :)

Any new word on this? Bonus feats would definitely help with the feel and uniqueness to custom campaigns.

Tooltips (Help/aid)
Is there any news on this topic? It is very important and a major feature for the use of d&d beyond. Please make it happen soon!
Adding my log to the fire.
Another one one for adding out-of-progression/homebrew feats
It's been confirmed that these will be added.
Unfortunately that means we just need to wait until it's been developed.

What about boons? If we're going to be able to add feats, we should be able to add the boons as well.
Yes. In the Q&A today Badeye stated that boons/feats/bonus skills/et al is being worked on. So it is coming!
