I would like to see filter options that EXCLUDE things or compare datasets. For example, I want to find spells that a wizard has but a sorcerer doesn’t.
spells by range would be good too. Or be able to see which spells are affected by feats, eg which wizard spells are effected by distant spell.
I really wish you could scan a barcode of your physical dnd books and get them free on dnd beyond.
How many threads are there about this?
IDK, though I want that too
If you read this thread you'll know why that won't happen.

This question is asked and answered in detail every other day it seems.
DDB and WotC are two different companies with two very different distribution platforms.
If you bought a paperback novel would you expect a free kindle version?
If you bought a game on Xbox would you expect to get it free on Playstation? Of course not. And those are two digital platforms with the same end product.
In this instance one sells physical hardcover books and the other digital versions of the book plus additional digital tools to use on their website. End of story.

Then go buy the essentials kit from amazon and get here to redeem digital version and a 50% discounted price for the PHB As you see it is possibile, only it must be an agreement between the two vendors. Oreilly gave the possibility to buy their book in digital version at 5 dollars if you owned the physical version for example. Gog.com gives you for free games you already own on Steam... so if there is an agreement is absolutely possible For me could be an interesting option to add.. not free, pay for the digital goodies that dndbeyond creates, but not the full price of the book you already own
I have the Essentials Kit and redeemed both codes. Except that was a special cross promotion to drum up business for a new platform sold inside a sealed boxed product.
It's never been a question of can they, but a matter of how and why. How can you put digital codes in a book without them being stolen by people browsing the store. As it is, DDB is cheaper compared to the hardcovers and regularly have sales (the hardcover books rarely are on sale; at least not in Australia and not significantly)
You're choosing to have both mediums.
As for digital games, it's the developers that make the keys available on multiple platforms, not the platforms themselves. GOG doesn't give you keys for their games on steam. Nor does Valve give you keys for their games on GOG.
In others words you should be asking WotC (the dev) not DDB (the platform)
(don't get me wrong, if WotC could work out a deal so you at least got the compendium with a hardcover redeem I'd love that. I just can't see how)
Content filters so I can use only the Players Handbook (as an example) to create characters without having the Elemental Evil content and at this moment Tasha's stuff showing.
or a filter that will show you only what you have purchased sourcebooks and adventure wise.
While there is an encounter builder I'd like to see adventure content that we purchase have integrated dice. Where the dm or player (polymorphed animal for example) could roll directly in the stat block and the digital dice would render the result.
Something like, dm has the browser open to his digital content. They click the highlighted links to open the stat block for the monster in an encounter. They now have the feature to click initiative or an attack roll and have the digital dice role and provide the result.
I'd also love to see something like the above integrated with the new campaign game log. Where i could associate the adventure with a campaign and then when i roll the results would render right in the shareable game log for that campaign. Ideally, if running it, i would be able to indicate if the roll is dm only or visible to the campaign members.
Any word on third-party content being sold through the marketplace? There are a number of adventures that I would love to see in DDB (without having to entering them all myself ;-)
Homebrew campaign modules/"books" would be pretty nice?
Maybe add a verification process for it, so the people who post it, the site asks if they have permission to post it?
(My own campaign is based off of a module I have permission to post in full on D&D Beyond, and I wish other people to be able to play the content in a convenient enough way)
Extra Note on that: Maybe add a tip jar for the homebrew modules that will be able to go to the original creator of the module, too?
So you can technically get a homebrew module for free, but if you feel guilty and want to pay money to the original creator for it, you can?
Another idea would be a rule change on derivative content if they are the following:
- The original content is public domain, and/or open source.
- The original content is fanfiction-based.
- The original content, though copyrighted, is not being upheld copyright-wise by its company and/or its owner(s) anymore.
The module for the campaign I'm running has elements of all three (as it's based off of the Crossover Chaos Saga by Elwynn James and Jessica McKinney, which also has elements of all three, as it is a fanfiction on Deviantart), and I wish to be able to publish the elements in the module I'm using without being taken off the site for "copyright" when there is none (or nothing that is held up these days) to speak of.
Increased customization of homebrew magic items so they're on the same level as homebrew feats. IE the ability give the item custom actions with different recharge times and everything else that feats can do.
Right now I have to work around that lack of features by creating a corresponding feat for such magic items.

Or just go on the sites made for that like DMSguild or drivethru?
The ability to allow a DM to set how many items you can attune to per character sheet. Also would like to see the ability to hide your dice totals from players as a DM when rolling with the encounter builder. I would like it to show the creature and that a roll is being made, but then something symbolic in the text box meaning hidden.
The ability to allow a DM to set how many items you can attune to per character sheet
Ive made a magic item that allows this. Set>attunement slots. Fixed value: 4+ (anything less than 3 actually reduces their default attunement slots).
Pro tip: Set the value to 4 but let it need to be attuned to. Name it ring of attunement. (A): This powerful ring grants the user magic beyond their wildest dreams. Grants an additional attunement slot.

Full of rice, beans, and bad ideas.

1. A proper campaign manager.
2. A better way to keep player notes, not just the note section of the character sheet.
3. the abilty to switch of/on spellslots and spell points (optional rule from dmg)
4. When creating races with subrace, group them together as you do with offical rules.
5. a sidekick creator
6. a vtt
Add folders to homebrew so we can organize our homebrew between different campaigns so they don't accidently get mixed up.
