Just recently started a campaign of tla. My character has a leather crafting skill. We recently slew three sea hags. I took their hides I know weird but I figured maybe it could be useful. Any ideas of what this could make if anything with a leather crafting skill? Haven't played in a long time but I'm harvesting as much Useful hide and skin as possible then my character considers ethical at the very least.... So any ideas come to mind?
First, the obvious disclaimer that you need to talk with your DM and be sure that they even allow crafting magic items. And if they do, it’s going to be up to them what you can or can’t make with any given set of materials.
That said, for a sea hag, I could see something like a cloak of the manta ray, or cap of water breathing being good fits. Or, playing off their illusory appearance, maybe a hat of disguise.
Of course I have to ask the dm. I was just looking for potential ideas that would be most likely based on the materials I had. I will gather more materials this time goes on but there's some really good suggestions thank you. I'm just happy to be playing again after not playing for so many years

I'd suggest to your DM letting you copy the sea hag's horrific appearance, with a penalty to the DC relative to your leatherworking skill, representing how intact the sea hag's appearance is. Approximately this:
Studded Leather of Horrific Appearance:
While you are wearing this armor, any humanoid that starts its turn within 30 feet of you that can see your true form must make a DC X Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is frightened of you for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, with disadvantage if it is within line of sight of you, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the armor's Horrific Appearance for the next 24 hours.
Unless the target is surprised or the revelation of your true form is sudden, the target can avert its eyes and avoid making the initial saving throw. Until the start of its next turn, a creature that averts its eyes has disadvantage on attack rolls against you.
X vs result of Leatherworking Check:
DC 30: X=11
DC 25: X=10
DC 20: X=9
DC 15: You fail in your attempt, but you may try again with a (cumulative) -5 penalty to the check. If you don't try again, treat as the DC 10 result.
DC 10: You mangle the hide too much for the effect, but it's still perfectly functional (albeit mundane) armor.
DC 5: You mangle the hide too much for the effect and you've ruined its use as armor, but you can still make a perfectly normal item of clothing out of what remains.
Below 5: You mangle the hide into a pile of scraps.

With DM approval of course, perhaps a bag of holding, or Mariner’s Armor (leather/studded leather/hide).
