It's also probable that there will be additional modifiers added as part of that implementation, that will do what you want here.
It's been almost a year now and the "General Features System" has come and gone. Please enable homebrew or otherwise to make additional spell slots as they are a part of the core Dungeon Masters Guide. It's a little ridiculous that development mapping has dice skins ahead of actual mechanics from one of the main books.
the General Features system still hasn't come and gone. if you actually look at the roadmap, you will see that GFS is on the "Next Quarter" block of the roadmap.

They've also changed the roadmap multiple times since then. Delays happen, you don't know what they are dealing with on their side. Could be any number of problems or changes in priority. This is explicitly and expressly why DDB doesn't give hardline dates.

Nah, that doesn't excuse it. These are fundamental rules and mechanics outlined in the core rulebooks. Stuff like this should have been fleshed out first, then they could move onto thematic 3D dice sets and whatnot.

You say that like the dice team is a core part of the development team, which they are not. Companies have multiple teams working on multiple projects at a time, those working on dice have nothing to do with the character builder. And uh... Supernatural gifts aren't fundamental rules. Boons are not fundamental rules. They have always been optional, and intended for high level play (which, though not important to the debate here, but most games don't reach the level where boons or supernatural gifts are offered).
I will concede, this had changed with Wildemount and the Hollow One, and with Theros with their numerous gifts. But you know something? They aren't core settings, they aren't fundamental rules.

"An epic boon is a special power available only to 20th level characters. Characters at that level gain such boons only if you want them to and only when you feel it’s appropriate." Emphasis mine. That right there explicitly states... It is an optional rule, not a fundamental one.
"This section presents a variety of ways that gods, monarchs, and other beings of power might recognize the characters’ accomplishments," oh look, another "this rule is totally optional."
Oh, and since we're now directly citing the DMG... From the introduction: " If you like to create your own stuff, such as new monsters, races, and character backgrounds, chapter 9 shows you how. That chapter also contains optional rules for unusual situations or play styles, such as the use of firearms in a fantasy setting." Oh, would you look at that... Chapter 9 contains *optional rules* aka not fundamental or core rules. What's in chapter 9? Supernatural gifts, and epic boons. The DMG itself even spells it out: they are not fundamental like you claim.

But you can't and that's the problem. That's why this whole thread exists, because the DMG gives literal and specific options for them, and also allows for the creation of others. None of these options are available on dndbeyond. Like you said, and you're exactly right - it's from the introduction of the DMG. It's not part of the Rick and Morty book, it's not part of the Ravnica or Theros books. It's built into the core functions of the core book of the game. Did you really just ignore the entire point of that response, which is they are entirely optional rules that most people aren't even going to be using, and while it is a pain in the neck, you can still add these things through homebrew feats (which is how literally everyone has been doing them), or by making a homebrew variant of a race (in the case of Hollow Ones, and the Theros options)? like... We have the tools already to make it happen. Is it ideal? No. But you aren't helpless in the face of "DDB won't let me do it without having to put in work to make it happen."

Yes I ignored the part where you went on about options in a game famous for giving you tons of options and creative control.
My point is that people ARE using these options. I didn't even make the thread, I'm just one of several who had commented on it. You CANNOT add a homebrew feat to add spell slots. There is currently no mechanic on this site that allows for it, as much as you claim there is. That's the problem. I have homebrewed an additional spell slot... through a feat that grants an action that allows you to cast an extra spell at the level the spell slot is for, and refreshes on a long rest. Again, not ideal, but I *functionally* created an additional spell slot.

Make it public and share it then, because you're the only one on this site who has claimed to be able to do it.
*edit* It seems when asked to put their money where their mouth is, the conversation ended. The point still stands, these options should be available and accessible, but they aren't. Good talk.
I know I'm in the minority but my campaign has gone from 1-20 and I've had to get really manual and go off book entirely for epic levels and epic things. I don't want there to be an end to level progression, and the tools just aren't there to make this feasible.
Y'all seem to be getting pedantic and going away from the issue. I don't really care that they made fancy dice skins and whatever, gotta make money. This is a core customization that I would really, REALLY like to leverage to help alleviate the pain of figuring out levels above 20, since wizards doesn't seem to care about going above 20 ever. They're just crapping out disparate module after module and I feel like we haven't gone to the root of what makes d&d so special. It's not about having a shedload of settings and non sequitur questlines, it's about collaborative storytelling and doing ANYTHING you want to do if it makes sense to you. This is just a mega roadblock that's halted my campaign and it's a royal pain to work around.
Good talk.
Actually, if the programmed it to mimic the Boon exactly then they cannot publish it because that would be copyright infringement/plagiarism and would be rejected by the moderators.
I have functionally added a spell slot through a feat as well, but not bothered to publish it because I hope to not need it forever. But, if you are interested:
Create feat from scratch named “Boon of High Magic”
Add the following to both the snippet and the description and SAVE.
You gain one 9th-level spell slot, provided that you already have one.
Add a “Spell Action” to the feat called “Cast 9th level Spell”
Activation Type: Special
Reset Type: Long Rest
Add the same description as above to the snippet (you can skip the description here)
SAVE
Then go in and re-edit the action to add a “Limited Use” of 1. Then simply re-save the Action, re-save the entire feat. And done.
I deemed it unnecessary to respond, but I honestly hadn't even considered the liscenced content issue for making it public.
Funnily enough, I discovered how to do this for myself while homebrewing the Maverick subclass from Exploring Eberron, with help from a friend. Funny what you can do by just lookin through the tools we have...

You have no idea. I can make it do option trees that would remind you of an Escher painting; make you a Warlock, Paladin, Ranger, or 2/3 caster with double spell slots; races with custom Ability Score maximums; all kinds of stuff. It’s kind of amazing what I’ve learned to torture that thing into being able to at least approximate doing.
the General Features system still hasn't come and gone. if you actually look at the roadmap, you will see that GFS is on the "Next Quarter" block of the roadmap.

It has come and gone. It was slated for "Next Quarter" in September of last year... that was four quarters ago.

DMG pg. 227-228 and 231-232 would argue otherwise.

These books should have been handled first, not years later. And as a result core options that are built into the game are inaccessible when we should have had access long ago.

Those optional rules that you are supposed to be able to choose whether or not you want to use them are fully off the table.

I know I'm in the minority but my campaign has gone from 1-20 and I've had to get really manual and go off book entirely for epic levels and epic things. I don't want there to be an end to level progression, and the tools just aren't there to make this feasible.

How do you apply this to your character without taking up a feat slot?
Directly on the character sheet under “Features & Traits”->”Feats”->”Manage feats” and it can be attached directly there.
