Been slowly working on a blood hunter subclass that has a draconic spin on the order of the lycan. Infused with dragon blood and turn into a half-dragon and such. But the first character i want to play with it would actually be the dragon from which the blood curse is derived, but part of the extraction process cursed him into a humans body and the transformations are actually him releasing some of his true form and power. His ultimate goal is of course to rid himself of the blood curse and regain his true form.....and incinerate all those that imprisoned and tortured him.
I'm not saying you're wrong because you are never wrong in your own story, but a Lycan looking to rid himself of Lycanthropy is a HUGE departure from the canon of the Blood Hunter Order. I would encourage you to heavily play this up in your subclass description as a juxtaposition against the existing Order of the Lycan blood hunters. These two orders would likely not think highly of each other.
I think you skipped the line of this character actually being _the_ Dragon from which the draco-lycan blood curse was created, as a consequence he gets trapped into the form of a human. The actual sub-class order would be your more traditional blood hunters embracing the curse
Right on. I think the subclass idea is pretty cool and I wasn't looking to contradict you. I hope it didn't come off that way, but I suspect it might have. At any rate, we both see the tension it would build between it and the Order of the Lycan. That by itself would make for some cool interactions and division within the Blood Hunter ranks. I think it's a pretty neat idea and I still think you have a great opportunity to lean into the conflict. It's your story to write however you want. I'm interested to see how it builds up. Feel free to also start a thread in the homebrew forum with more details on the subclass. I would like to read more about it.
Ni'zu (loosely "No Tail" in Draconic), a deep gnome Way of Shadow monk raised by Kobolds. Uses a loaded sling as a melee weapon (improvised club, hence Martial Arts applies subject to DM discretion) and has Hunting Trap as a custom tool proficiency (adds proficiency bonus to saving throw DC). He is completely naive to the world outside the subterranean tunnels.
A Kenku college of lore bard named Klaxx devoted to discovering the true origins of his cursed race. He has an annoying tendency to use detect thoughts, spouting whatever he may glean for all to hear. He carries with him a small black shard, as a pendant around his neck, that he suspects to be connected to the Kenku's past. The shard is in fact one of the 333 shards of Tharizdun, once used by his ancestors in a failed attempt to release the Dark God. The remnants of the abyssal chaos transforming a once mighty race into the dark and mysterious Kenku. (Note: The shard is a story hook to be used at the DM's discretion)
I would treat them as one character for all purposes until something happens that makes them split. You can of course drop hints during play such as "when Gorlak dodged the lightning bolt, you though you saw his shirt go one way and his pants the other"
Then if they split, you would have to of course limit the available actions they can take, like they can both move, but only one can take an action and one can take a bonus action.
Harumi the Sharp, a kitsune eldritch hunter ranger whose lover has been poisoned by an otherworldly curse. She left their woodland home to journey to find a cure before it is too late. https://www.dndbeyond.com/profile/Houligan/characters/8868667
You just let it happen, like you said. The only time you need special rules would be during combat.
Would you then even? You could say they have the same turn, but one uses their turn operating the arms while the other does the legs, combining to look like a single character turn.
I think you just gave an example of needing special rules...
Maybe taking X amount of Budgeoning damage knocks the top one off?
- Equipment (Cobblestone,Boulders,Sack to Hold Cobblestones)
- Attack Types, to use said rocks as weapons (with level and Class selection requirements)
- Bonus Action specific to duel wielding Cobblestones
Let me know your thoughts, specially on the rock weapons and attacks. I want to convince my DM to let me roll this character next campaign. I attempted to make it colorful for a "Fezzik", but balanced. Cobblestone attacks are mirrored after War Hammer and Heavy Crossbow for damages(much less range). Boulder attacks can only be used by Barbearians who have selected "Aspect of the Bear" at lvl 6, due to the increased lifting/carrying strength this adds. Also, the Boulder attacks (4d10 + 1 STR) are such high damage due to the use of them negating the Extra Attack he would get at lvl 5. Therefore, I figured the damage needed to have a slightly higher average than 2 Maul attacks, to make it a more risk/reward option over doing two Maul attacks. (4d6+ 2 STR's)
i make a small buissnes selling premade dnd characters, some of my favorites have been....
the legend of zorro, combined with zorro from onepeice, but he's a swordfish
a blue dragonborn who weilds copper javilens
THE stereotypical paladin (with a twist)

BORK NORK THE SCIENCE ORC

How does one 'steal' character ideas in the first place?
I have this really great idea that I came up with about two kobolds in a trench coat...
I know what you're thinking: "In that flurry of blows, did he use all his ki points, or save one?" Well, are ya feeling lucky, punk?

Characters with one sentence backstories I came up with when one of my characters didn't like what they were playing:
Feel free to take any or all as is (basic character sheets provided to level 8)
Zera De'ath, a changling barbarian skald collecting tragic sagas of battles lost. She uses her shapechange to transform into the characters while she is storytelling.
