Yeah but if you're Wild Shaped, they won't know who you are. Just some marauding terrifying bear carrying a message about how they're all going to be dinner if they don't institute such and such policies. Then the bear turned into an owl and flew away. Maybe guys, just spitballing...maybe we should put a pin in that offshore drilling project for a while...like the nice bear said...
There are a lot of good choices for this such as an Undying Warlock, Knowledge Domain Cleric, Inquisitive or Mastermind Rogue, and Glamour or Lore Bard. But I would have to go with Lore Bard due to the versatility of all the extra skills you can be proficient in and have expertise in, Jack of All Trades making it so that you likely won't suck at non-proficient skills, along with two free 1st/2nd/3rd level spells from any class due to Additional Magical Secrets and two more spells that can also be 4th/5th level from any class at 10th level due to Magical Secrets. I don't think that Bard can be just limited to the entertainment industry as you could be a novelist, blogger, Youtuber, motivational speaker, ambassador/diplomat, pretty much do any sort of career that involves interacting with or helping people in some way via written or spoken word. Depending on the kind of person you would want to become and what you want to pursue, you can choose which skills to be proficient and expertise in along with all the different spells to choose from to suit how you want to live. Comprehend Languages and Tongues, travel the world and become a translator/reviewer/food blogger or Youtuber. Proficient and Expertise in Persuasion, become a diplomat and bring about world peace by convincing all the world leaders to sign a peace treaty. With Bardic Inspiration and spells like Calm Emotions, Skill Empowerment, Guidance, and such; become a motivational speaker or therapist to help those in need of motivating themselves to continue living and to live better. The possibilities are endless really. I would love to have that 20 Charisma so that I can become outgoing and sociable, less ugly so that I may actually feel like a normal person and be able to live the full fulfilling life that I've always wanted to have, contributing to society in a possibly meaningful way. Also I’ve always wished that I could learn how to play the violin, so being able to be proficient in that and two other instruments of my choice would be really cool as well.
I would be a druid every day of the week. I mean, Stealth? Ant. Jumping? Kangaroo. Combat? Inland taipan/Bear. Transport? Eagle or Shark. The versatility is endless. Also, we are facing a HUGE climate problem, and you could just go around spamming plant growth. Need a business? Sell herbs, fruit and vegetables. Also, IRL you cant really use damaging spells or attacks, I mean, murder isn't as common as in D&D. But druids have SO many utility and protection spells. Oh, and don't even get me started on healing. One word: Revivify. You can bring people back from the dead! Broken arm? Cure wounds. Why choose cleric when druid are just Cleric 10.0.
P.S. I am new here and this is my first post. I didn't realise like nobody had posted for years on this thread.
Why do ships ship cargo and cars carry shipments? Why do we have fingertips but not toetips and can tiptoe but can't tipfinger. These are all the questions of the universe.
Any Artificer, but probably Armorer. You're basically Iron Man, and 10th level is when you get the Magic Item Adept feature, letting you make Common or Uncommon Magic Items in 1/4 the time for 1/2 the cost. Normally, a Common magic item takes a workweek (5 days, 8 hrs a day = 40 hours) but this lets you get it done in 10 hours. And most DMs allow Artificer Infusions to work as Magic Item Schematics for Crafting Purposes if you want to make any Uncommon or Rare Magic Items for yourself.
So, if you are willing to work some long days, you can make the following magic items for sale (to the rich and famous or the military):
Bottle of Boundless Coffee (but Starbucks may send assassins after you)
Chest of Preserving (Food DOES NOT AGE OR DECAY while in it. nothing will ever spoil in it)
Cleansing Stone
Cloak of Billowing (Everyone wants one, you know it)
Cloak of Many Fashions (bring back capes for men in popular fashion)
Clothes of Mending
Earring of Message
Ersatz Eye (You can give people sight. This isn't a nerve thing, it magically attunes to you and you can see through it)
Feather Fall Tokens (the only way I'd ever Rock Climb)
Instrument of Illusions
Pot of Awakening (Go on, become Poison Ivy)
Prosthetic Limb (see Ersatz Eye comment)
Shiftweave (Have 5 outfits ready to go AT ALL TIMES)
Tankard of Plenty
You can even make the following Potions in 5 hours time:
Potion of Climbing
Potion of Comprehension
Potion of Healing
Any of these Common Magic items would sell for thousands of dollars each and have it only cost you a day's work.
The only downside to being a level 10 character is 5th level spells come online at level 11. So we miss out on Real World changing spells like:
Awaken: make living trees? Hell yes.
Dream: Get into the minds of rulers of nations and companies and have them change their stance on things.
Geas: Like Dream, but deadlier
Mass Cure Wounds: Obvious
Modify Memory: So many uses
Raise Dead
Reincarnate
Scrying
Summon Celestial/Draconic Spirit: Holy crap this would be crazy
Teleportation Circle: Over the course of a few years (takes a while to make em permanent), you could do away with the need for international flights. Just teleport from Chicago to London directly. You'd need an Artificer Friend with a Mark of Passage to build and run a hub for multiple uses a day though.
Wall of Stone: You can build anything. Combined with Stone Shape, and you can really design a lot.
5th level spells are available at level 9 for full casters.
Do I have to be a single class? Reading thru this it reads like folks are saying more of what they would like to be and less of what they are but pushed to L10. For me, being a knowledge hound more than anything I would have to be a Wizard but really clear which type other than not an evoker (no real need for focusing on blasting spells in real life) . Going with what I am and 10 levels to play with I would be a Monk 3/ranger 3/Wizard 4 and look something like this:
It's my solid conviction that social skills beat all other concerns hands down and no contest. So ... bard. Obviously. No level of personal power will beat the ability to literally bring the UN, or the US or whatever, down on someone's rearside.

Blanket disclaimer: I only ever state opinion. But I can sound terribly dogmatic - so if you feel I'm trying to tell you what to think, I'm really not, I swear. I'm telling you what I think, that's all.

Well, I'm an idiot! Getting rid of the nonsense then.
If you could pick one 10th level class ( with NO leveling up) that you could actually BE for your life, what would it be? I'm not sure if there's already a thread about this.
I think that I would be a Wizard because I'd love to get all those spells. Being a Cleric would be cool, but Wizards get some healing spells too.
What healing spells? I’ve been playing for years now and no wizard has ever had a healing spell in their base spell list. I’m sure this is just a bit of a mistype…
Have to consider Component cost when choosing spellcasters.
Most math points to 1 gold being somewhat equal to around $100. So your 10 gold for find familiar? Yeah, that's $1000.
So I would need to look at what spells don't use components with a gold cost for a Wizard. Or maybe choose Creation bard (they can just create the components).
If this was a "you dont need components" kinda deal - wizard, hands down, no contest.

It was mentioned when this thread started a few years ago that these are clearly fantasy wishes as opposed to what you'd really be in 10th level game terms. That said, one of my favorite bards has a line in one of my favorite songs, "Well I'm no hero, that's understood" so I'd probably be an NPC the DM can stat out to be as challenging or foldable before the heroes as the game needs.
But couldn't a 10th level Druid terrify and subjugate a room full of oil executives and politicians? Because that would go a long way.
Looking for new subclasses, spells, magic items, feats, and races? Opinions welcome :)
I refer you to your You have one spell in the real world...which one? thread, and the comments about not getting burned at the stake, or dissected in a Black Site lab somewhere :P

What I’d like to be:
Transmutation Wizard - it’d just make life easier
What I’d probably be:
Rogue - I have a general skill set that is useful; and I can make myself scarce when I need to.
What my friend told me I’d be:
Paladin - apparently I’m “honorable”…but also they said Oath of Conquest; so that’s a lot to unpack.
Diviner wizard.
