I do physical dice most of the time, while playing online. My players all use the Foundry digital dice because they like the multicolored/surfaced options in the Dice So Nice! mod, which is an awesome mod. Occasionally I will do an "open" roll in front of them (usually when they really want something to happen, and I have to roll a monster saving throw or something, because it seems to add a little bit to their excitement to see the roll) but most of the time, I just use my fancy metal skullsplitter dice.

WOTC lies. We know that WOTC lies. WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. We know that WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. And still they lie.
Because of the above (a paraphrase from Orwell) I no longer post to the forums -- PM me if you need help or anything.
When I am a player, I use physical, but when I am DM'ing I use digital to better hide my rolls, since one of my players is a little snoop who likes to peek.
As a Player, Physical dice just 'feels cooler' for lack of a better adjective.
As a DM, I use both - Physical dice for your basic attacks or d20 rolls, though if I'm rolling a ton of dice e.g. 8d6 for Fireball, it's quicker for me to use Digital. So technically I use both.

Why buy them if you aren't going to use them at times?! Yes some are just for show because they're too nice arguably to scratch up but otherwise use them! Hearing the click clack is part of the fun of this game.
Even with online play I use physical dice and will show the DM via camera what I rolled but usually we imply the "good faith" mentality when we HAVE to play online for some reason.
Ditigial dice do have a place in the landscape I will say though as when you have to/get to roll 6 d12 for damage or something you kind of need a fast roll and math answer. Ha
As a DM I honestly use both about the same, when playing in person. Depends on what I’m rolling for…..
I set up pre planned encounters on D&D Beyond, so often find it easier to roll monster attacks direct from the D&D beyond encounter UI, however when it comes to everything else or unplanned encounters) I go with physical dice.
I prefer digital dice. I'm actually slightly annoyed that DND Beyond does a simulated virtual roll that takes some time rather than instantly spitting out a randomly generated number.
There is nothing satisfying to me about dice. I just want to get the calculations done as quickly and easily as possible so that I can get back to playing the game.
I just want to get the calculations done as quickly and easily as possible so that I can get back to playing the game.
On the one hand, I get wanting to rapidly return to the game but on the other, if you just want quick numbers why not homebrew to say anything over 15 hits and after so many hits something dies/falls unconscious (10-15 half damage and under 10 is a miss)?
Digital dice can certainly help when you have to roll multiple kinds and multiple amounts so again I get the use of them but physical...the click clack sound man, it's so good and you physically feel like you beat the challenge instead of just being told you did. :)
I use the digital dice on DDB even when playing in person, it's just easier, plus the DM can see it all on their screen - not that we've have fluffing rolls, but makes it easier for them to do their Dm bit :)

My wife actually uses both. We play in person but use a tablet for our characters. She uses physical dice when she makes a weapons attack, but uses digital when she make magical spells.
As a DM, I am using digital more and more because it allows me stealth rolls.
Human. Male. Possibly. Don't be a divider. My characters' backgrounds are written like instruction manuals rather than stories. My opinion and preferences don't mean you're wrong. I am 99.7603% convinced that the digital dice are messing with me. I roll high when nobody's looking and low when anyone else can see.🎲 “It's a bit early to be thinking about an epitaph. No?” will be my epitaph.
I made a purchase recently to get a set of metal dice and another set of dice to use for my bard. He now has enough dice to "give" inspiration dice to anyone that receives it. Then we collect them all back again every short rest.
I wager I have over 100 d6s, the old fashioned spotted kind.
I have "regular polyhedral dice" and gemstone dice. I have a d24.
I don't need any more dice. And I like to roll them.
But, on that point, my wife, whenever asked to "Roll For ..." she picks up all her dice and roll them all (eight, I think, she has 2 d20s). Then she hunts for the one she needed in the bowl.
Physical dice is a part of what brought me into the hobby and I just can't see ever going all digital.
But ...
In one game I play, the DM insists we use the VTT which automatically applies all the modifiers to the roll for you. If you swing your weapon, the to-hit adjustment is in there. If you make a wisdom save, the AbScore modifier is in there. But, I'm good enough at arithmetic to do that myself.

I only play with friends and family and therefore 99% of the time, I play physical with physical dice. We only played online a few times during the pandemic, but I still used physical dice, though I don't ban digital dice, if a player prefers them. Otherwise we use digital tools only for character creation and depending on the system, character advancement. But as I allow point buy and average hit point characters only, in these cases, there are no dice involved.

Just curious. (I love my real dice!)
P.S. I don't know how clear the title is, but only answer the second poll if you usually play in person but are currently online.

When playing in person I always use physical dice.
When running an online game I will either use DND Beyond/ RPBot or roll my physical dice, if I remembered to bring them in.
I use physical dice.

I use physical dice in person, and also when I played online I used physical dice unless my DM said otherwise.
I do have players in the game that I am the DM for that use online dice rollers because they find them really fun.

I use digital when playing online, but I use physical when DMing or playing offline.
I use digital dice, but I have only been playing during COVID, so I have never played in person.
but I think it makes a lot more sense to use physical dice in person
I use physical dice as much as possible!
