For those with high Passive Perception, you would have spotted that the latest issue of Dragon+ is out.
Our favourite Product Lead Badeye was interviewed about D&D Beyond, including how Beyond was born, goals of the Digital tool set, and some handy insights into how some of the subscription tiers will work. Also see a wonderful shout out to all beta users so far - Beyond has evolved in such a short amount of time and that couldn't have occurred without the input from the community!
and there is the answer many were looking for -- the DM sub will allow sharing out characters and info to the content he has unlocked. So effectively, your group can share 1 DM sub, and play together with that content!
I love all new Info. Thank you for being awesome moderator!

"...Debts must always be paid, sometimes in more than blood and gold. But this is Ordo Ursa," Ren places his hand on Erakas's chest, right where the Dragonborn's heart is. "Right here. And it always has been and always will be. Don't ever forget that. Because I won't."
Serandis Mendaen (Aereni Elven Rogue/maybe one day Wizard)- Project Point Playtest
Six Slots sounds very fair right off the bat, enough to play with a couple of characters at around the same time, especially if we can import/export characters to dump some into storage for a while- im loving the sound of a curated homebrew collection, hopefully we can get r/unearthedarcana and it's curated collection to be recognized, i'm really eager to see something like that provide greater legitimacy to more homebrew works (Sterling Vermin's Pugilist for example would be amazing to have in the builder)
The news about the master tier is awesome. It definitely takes away some of my reservations regarding paying for the content when I have the books already. Being able to have my players have easy access to not only the WotC official content but also the homebrew content I've added to my campaign you can't really put a price on. This will allow groups to easier get new players into d&d and is a much better option to passing hardcopy books around the table.
Rebuying is my biggest fear right now. I just started with this and I've bought 5 books already (plus another one soon)... If I didn't buy off Amazon it would have cost me over $300 at MSRP (if not more). I shouldn't be expected to drop another $300 or even $100 to get the same things I already bought :(
And to play golf 3 times, it could cost you the same. It's not free. It's also not a necessity. Buy what you can, and just enjoy the game.
I, for one, am pretty sure you will have to re-buy anything you use here. But it's not the same, it's digital and it's indexed and it's cloud saved and it's lightweight. It's new and different and I'll be paying for it.
Sometimes when we watch a movie in the theater, we can't expect the VHS, DVD, and Bluray to all come free of charge. Retailer media is charged separately at location, which also covers D&D.
Calling it rebuying is seriously one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. I swear that the developers at D&D Beyond must have the patience of saints to put up with this kind of crap.
I am not a saint.

"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."
Like some people, I am worried about the cost: however, I am pretty sure I'm going to pay it. Right now, I feel all in on D&D Beyond. Having all the rules and such at my finger tips without digging thru a book. Yes please.
Very cool. This was nearly exactly what i was hoping for in all honesty.
I do have some hopes for the Master Tier though:
Donate/Gift: My hope here is that there's a way to allow easy sharing of cost as with most toolsets, most of the financial burden falls on the DM. It'd be great if there was a seamless way to donate/gift for subs or at least gift content to the Master sub (depending on how that works).
Content: I don't mind at all buying a physical and digital copy (already do this with literature, movies, etc) but it sounds like the Master Sub is going to have some sub-levels since there's hints of ala-carte and full access. As long as there's an offline mode (Spotify has a great offline mode) my concerns would be pretty minimal as I'd 100% rather carry around an indexed/searchable D&D library on my laptop/iPad than every single book I own for conventions/road trips.
Some very good news here. I'm glad players will have access to whatever their DM has bought. Still no indication of whether there will be an "access-as-a-service" option or if DMs, too, will have to buy each thing piecemeal. The character sheet looks pretty fantastic, though, able to track, like, all the things. That's awesome.
Let me rephrase what I meant by scared of having to repurchase every book I own (don't give that BS about it not being repurchasing. If you already own the content in physical form then you are rebuying it in electronic). This is ONLY in the case that I will also have to pay a large subscription fee a month.
If the subscription fee as a DM is at a low price then I'll be happy to buy the books and content I need. However, if I'm looking at $20 or more a month with an added $150 downpayment to get the core books, that's pushing it. Especially if I can only get people together a few times a month.
I'm absolutely want to pay for this service (paying helps keep it going and hopefully get better over time) but only as long as it's feasible for a normal person (or group) to afford it.

Funny until reading your post I hadn't noticed the character sheets. Went back to look again before I said "what character sheets? What am I missing?" Somehow I passed right over the pics on the article as if they were adds like every other article you read online these days. They do look great can't wait to be able to test them.

How do you get a one-armed goblin out of a tree?

Hoping the pricing is still manageable however.
So will Dungeon Masters have to rebuy published adventures that they alreay own?
