This is a place to share your unused ideas - the ones you never got around to fleshing out, or that never found a way into the game, or that relied on that NPC not getting murdered by the party.
Post up your abandoned ideas - be them NPCs, PCs, plots, BBEGs, weapons, magical items, settings - anything you feel like you'll never get around to finishing for yourselves and that you think might find a loving home elsewhere! And if anyone adopts an idea, please come back and give us an update on how it went! And of course, there's nothing to stop you from coming back to your idea one day!
I'll open with some of mine, which I never got around to finishing off as I couldn't work out the effects.
A magical spyglass - battered and sold in a junk stall for cheap, this eyeglass functions like any other spyglass, but if you focus on one creature for one minute, then some random magical effect will occur - anything from them becoming instantly aware of who you are, where you are and what you're doing, to you and them magically swapping positions, to power word kill. I couldn't think of enough effects for this one to make it viable and fun, as I dislike repetitivity.
The Wizards Party - this was inspired by one part of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy book series. The concept is that some wizards decided to throw the best party ever, and at some point they also decided that it should fly. That was some hundred years ago, and this wizards tower is still flying around, with lively music playing and alcohol flowing, because nobody wants to leave. They frequently perform raids on inns and breweries for beer and snacks, and are equal parts tourist attraction and bloody nuisance. Most of the time, if anyone resists their raids, they decide that they're boring and need cheering up, so they abduct them to join the party. This could lead to a very peculiar kidnap rescue mission!
Do you have any ideas which you're prepared to put up for adoption?
Urban Fantasy Setting (Literally gave up after 5 minutes)
House of pendragon - A intrigue campaign that I also envisioned as an anime. Its based off of a weird dream I had. Two people wearing the same red() uniform. They both have blond hair and are from the same family. They are arguing about something and its really tense. Someone in the background is just staring out the window. The argument gets more and more intense until the third person turns around and blasts both of them with magic missile. They are unharmed, though. Then I woke up.
Campy Horror campaign idea I had about a year ago: The Fellowship of The Van.
You all get really drunk one night and hit it off, plus it's half-off Fellowship Initiation Night at the tavern so you all decide to go for it, plus you make friends with the king of the kingdom (Also drunk. ), but he goes into the men's room and never comes out, so a royal attendant goes in to check on him, and he's dead on the floor, the doctor identified that he died of unnatural causes, you all feel terrible and you swear to drive around in his Volkeswagon van he he called the "Party Floatilla", as it could drive across water, so they would encounter all kinds of weird monsters and it would be a Beer-and-Kill sort of campaign.
God, this would take hours. Here's my last couple of things I probably won't get around to:
A bar called Stabby's;
The Chaos War: The Eternal War between the forces of Chaotic Evil and Chaotic Good. The problem is everything is so outlandish and random it's impossible to distinguish from the ordinary state of the Planes of Chaos. The forces of Law aren't even aware that it's happening. It just looks like pure gibberish to them.
Writing semi-personalized notes when a PC dies that describe their afterlife experience depending on their alignment.
Fram Hampson: an NPC who writes a local politics column in a broadsheet and gives the PCs his card, offering to meet with them once a game session and explain something that's confusing them.
A lizard folk campaign with no caster classes, set 20 million years in my homebrew world's past, where a small group of lizardfolk, tortles, and possibly grungs, have to protect and hatch the egg of a dragon in order to raise it to be their protection from magic-using yuan-ti malisons. I might still get around to that one someday.

From my notebook of random ideas:
Mind Flayers need cholesterol to survive (good cholesterol is essential for proper brain function in humans)
A dream catcher which can be used to drive people insane by inducing horrific nightmares.
Cleric Domain of Art. I love this idea, but none of my players wanted to play a cleric. :(
“Venus” spell which drains beauty from the target and confers it upon the caster.
I live with several severe autoimmune conditions. If I don’t get back to you right away, it’s probably because I’m not feeling well.
